Fun fact, for all of his crimes (including ones listed in the sequel/continuation manga), Light Yagami’s sentence in the US would be 33,890 years in prison-4492 life sentences-and 397 death sentences. Edit: I counted most killings as single murders and group killing (examples for groups range from the FBI and the massacre after L’s death) with the difference being did he do a bunch in a row. First degree murder is punishable by up to 24 years in prison in most states with mass murder (three murders or more at a time, there is no cap to how high it can go) are death penalties or life sentences. The count also uses all possible minor crimes with maximum punishments as well as his incitement of riots and bringing in multiple accomplices.

The most damning thing about Light wasn't even the fact that the moment his power was threatened. He chose to kill innocents without hesitation. Nah he went through a whole arc with amnesia. Working with L, being good friends with him. You see the man he couldve been if he never had the Death Note. The moment he gets his memories back. There is no delay, no internal conflict, no hesitation, nothing. Where most characters in this scenario change their ways or contemplate their choices. Light just went right on back to being an evil mastermind with no pause whatsoever. Absolutely vile.

Like, Ryuk implies this was all Light's doing, and Ryuk was just in it for the show. And frankly, he knew the outcome, but it was no skin off his back how we get to that point. I thought it was surprisingly good writing. I think at his core, Light is just a manipulative dude with a God complex. Since episode 1. Just needed that little push. The crazy thing about the amnesia thing is he's such a conceited manipulator, he even manipulated himself. Gave himself amnesia, made himself innocent, set himself up to be tormented in jail and everything. He turned himself into a victim in his own experiment. He is THAT motha fucka.

And the ending in the manga definitely hammers home how Light was nothing more than an egotistical man baby with a God complex, with him begging and crying about how he doesn't want to die at the feet of Ryuk as the whole task force just watches.

List of things CJ didn’t explain. 3:17 Light almost killed himself writing this guy’s name, because it was explained in the Death Note that if the user purposely wrote the person’s name wrong 4 times in a row, not only will the person being written on there be free of the Death Note, but the user will die. 18:12 Misa had it made. As dumb as she may be some, if not most of the times, she was good. Because what CJ forgot to mention was that shinigamis if they care for the human to the point where they would sacrifice themselves to save them from the assailant by writing the assailant‘s name on the Death Note, that human the shinigami saved gets his/her lifespan. Assuming the shinigamis had bodies on their Death Note written before meeting Misa and sacrificing themselves, Misa could live for countless generations. So cutting her lifespan in half twice over wouldn’t really affect her at all. 27:26 100,000+ is a lowball for Light his actual count has to be within the range of 344,195 bodies give or take a few 40+. And finally even though Misa had longevity, she still couldn’t live without Light. It was strongly mentioned that shortly after Light’s death, she not-alived herself.

If he wasn’t in those circumstances he wouldn’t regret his choices as he seemingly got his pie (killing people out of his lust for power) and ate it (Remaining inconspicuous and alive), but only did so once those choices and murders finally cost him his life. It’s like a nihilist who claims to be indifferent to death for themselves begging for mercy once their life is in actual grave danger of ending to the people or person who put them in that position. In Light’s case, he was regretting nothing until his life was about to end in which he starts begging for mercy from Ryuk and the task force as he was cocky enough to think he was getting away with all of it alive; he only regrets the consequences he’s now experiencing, not the actual actions committed.

I wonder what kind of Lawyer would take Light's case. That would be one of the most famous cases in history. Since the argument would obviously be can you prove that the Death Note kills people. He would definitely be tried for: *Being an enemy of the state * Plotting Murder Criminal Negligence Criminal Threats Criminal Conspiracy But most if not every charge against Light Yagami would fall apart if they can't prove the Death Note kills people. And having a bunch of people say they saw it happen doesn't fly depending on the court and jury. Cause the problem is...having the Death Note in possession and proving that it actually works. And then there's the jury. Getting a jury together would be harder than our recent set of famous court cases. Setting up an unbiased Jury against Light Yagami would be damn near impossible cause everyone either hates him, worships him, or are scared to death of him.

I think one of the scariest things about Light is that, unlike most anime villains, or protagonists, that turn to a dark path... Light didn’t have a tragic backstory. The most scariest and dangerous thing about Death Note is not the possibility of a Light Yagami (normal person finding the note), it’s the fact that there is no “L”. Light’s foil was that there was an L to thwart him. A Batman level detective who could find and draw him out into the open. Light is also insanely intelligent, but rarely do we see intellects of L’s caliber. Without L…Light solos the entire world, and truly establishes himself as god. Fun fact, the second victim who had that accidental death, the one that tried to force himself on that girl, in the manga he never actually went that far. He was bothering her and not giving up despite being told no, but he never actually did anything illegal there. Yeah Light got 2 massive lucky moments in the series I see people gloss over a lot. The first one is what you described with Naomi which I think is fine because it shows that even while insanely intelligent light does need to rely on luck. The second is Misa having a shinigami that's willing to off themselves for her, imo the author should have explained why the 2 shinigami were so attatched to misa better or just not included that part at all. Because to me it takes away from lights character big time. Instead of using his own wit and ability to deal with his biggest adversary he literally just has this immortal ghost creature do it for him. He didn't even have to give anything up to have the shinigami do it instead it just game bonus with the massive luck package that is Misa.

I don’t really have a proper source for this, but I think that the author even admitted in an interview that Light got extremely lucky there, and the main reason why she instantly believed Light’s lies there was because he would have absolutely been arrested if she didn’t. Like, with her and L working together, along with the evidence she specifically had, the series would have immediately ended.

I know this isn’t a black Air Force video, but someone to seriously consider for the round table is Gohan. Throughout all of the canon, it is stated that he could be the most powerful of the Z-fighters, if he trained like Goku or Vegeta did. Since his introduction he has been fighting people stronger than him, Raditz, Frieza, Cell, Buu and he’s made them all (Aside from Buu) just feel impressed by his latent power that he just wasn’t able to draw out at that point. He later gets a major power up and after not training for years, he trains with Piccolo for one to two days and he’s on par with blue Goku, making Goku have to use the Kaioken in his blue form. After two days of training. Let’s not forget the fact that the promotional material and Toriyama himself said that in Super Hero, Orange Piccolo is on par with Goku and Vegeta at that point in the manga canon, that means that Beast Gohan is at the very least on par with Goku and Vegeta if not surpassing them. Also, Super Hero takes place after both the Moro arc and the Granolah arc, making them at the very least on par with Goku in the current manga canon.
