I love that his origin literally boils down to "Since I'm a robot and there's no way I'm the same person, I'll just give into the intrusive thoughts, lol" only to encounter Inuyashiki, who kind of has the opposite mindset ("Since I'm a robot and have been blessed with these abilities, I'll do nothing but good with them") and have his world complete flipped on his head. It's not that simple. I don't mean to be "that guy" but Shishigami or as I'll refer to him Hiro kills to feel human. If I recall correctly he has a whole moment about not being able to cry (come to think about it I think that was Inuyashiki) Anyway to feel alive again he needs some pretty intense stuff. Most of his kills throughout the series were for A. Revenge B. Self Defence C. To Feel Alive He is a textbook psychopath who lacks empathy for people and pretends to have the emotions he thinks he should have, I believe this is why he begins unrealisticly crying when reading One Piece. If I remember correctly I always thought that Hiro tricked himself into thinking he lost his humanity when he died when in reality he was always like this from the start. Inuyashiki is the polar-opposite of Hiro and is a man who is conventionally unattractive while Hiro is youthful and often portrayed as almost angelic when it comes to beauty. Hiro is at first seemingly an innocent boy to tragic villain and finally the monster he truly is. Just wanted to share my personal thoughts, have a good day.

The scariest thing about Hiro to me is that he could've really easily succeeded in ending the population on day 1. He said himself that he has nuclear launch codes, and showed that he didn't need air to survive, so he coulda just launched them mfs and took off into space. Even without that, he could've fulfilled his goals if he started suddenly booming people through their phones without prior warning. He could've gone to the ocean, giving him an infinite energy supply, and continued his assault through the internet without any interruptions. He could've just made humans extinct everywhere except Japan, or brought his gf to some remote island to prevent her death. It was, by all accounts, his emotions that got him killed, which I find incredibly poetic.

This series really shows the difference between being kind and just being harmless. Inuyashiki , the protagonist, chose to do good and tried to not hurt anyone or abuse his power even though he very much could. Whereas Hiro is just a straight up psychopath who is choosing to live out every intrusive thought he's ever had. Showing that he was always a budding serial killer deep down who was just harmless because he didn't actually have the *power* to act on his fantasies

But they and the cycle of violence through revenge were also why he kept crashing out. There’s several psychopathic/sociopathic and murderous characters featured on this channel or ones that have committed all kinds of heinous acts (some even involving the destruction of entire worlds), but Hiro’s sheer malevolence is all relatively plausible, mass shootings, acts of terror, take away the telekinetic robot boy and several of these crimes are very close to reality, which is what makes them more eerie than most others depicted in fiction. The closest I’ve seen to character like Hiro in live-action is Andrew Detmer from Chronicle. Both regular kids with mental health issues randomly given powers by something they found outside (Andrew being made a psychic by a weird crystal in the ground and Hiro being reconstructed as a robot with telekinesis by aliens that ran him over) and going on to become increasingly destructive as the stability in their lives deteriorate as their antics become more public. The main difference is Andrew isn’t anywhere near as psychopathic/sociopathic or “emotionless” as Hiro, nor as deliberate with his violent actions, as violence itself isn’t what excites him. He mainly just wanted to be loved and respected, but decided to settle for fear when he couldn’t get his way. Hiro specifically enjoys crime and violence because it gives him the rush of emotions he otherwise feels he lacks, but just like Andrew, both have little to no regard for others, only caring about their own needs and wants above anything else (with the exception of their mothers, who both seem to genuinely care for and grieve for when their mothers die). Either way, both examples depict how dangerous a regular person with powers would be in the real world, as it would potentially compel a person to act on their worst impulses without any dangers or consequences dissuading them. Yet both also depict some individuals that, while still flawed, would have the moral integrity to want to use their power for others or at the very least, would want to avoid using them to spare others harm, wether they are successful or not.

Usually he either stomps or gets stomped, but Shishigami is actually able to hurt him via his screen shots and could possibly be immune to the Death Note thanks to being a robot. At the same time he's dumb, so Light could easily plot around him and stay out of the line of sight of any screens

I think the most terrifying thing about this guy is, ironically, the fact that he's not completely irredeemable. As terrifying as villains like Frieza and Dio are, they are completely 100% evil all the time and never show a single redeeming quality at any point, so with them you kinda know what you're gonna get (They're both still amazing villains, though. I swear I'm not one of those "pUrE eViL vIlLaInZ R bOrInG" people.) not one of, but Hiro is strangely capable of empathy and has people he genuinely cares about.
