I've had Lightburn for a year...never even saw this video until today! I've been trying various software to do this very thing and most fall short. I can't wait to try this!! I'm hoping the saved files will work with EZCAD for fiber purposes. Crossing fingers !!!

Nice video. What if you want to have all area-colour-change of the owl? And if you want a single line for the perimeter? And if you want to have the perimeter line set to cut and the rest to engrave?

Where can I get these files he is using? I tried a couple of other files I found but the trace image doesnt do the same for those files? I would like to see it exactly as he is doing it so I know what its doing exactly?

Hey Jason, just a thing you may not be aware of. I have been finding that there is a substantial lag in the amount of time from when I hit the “stop” button in LB to when my machine actually stops (as though the machine is saying “ just let me finish this line! THEN I’ll stop”). I have a k40 upgraded with the c3d mini smoothie board. I feel like if I need my machine to stop in an emergency I need it to stop immediately. Please look into this. Thanks!

As with your owl example, mine is tracing both sides of every line. So I am getting each side of a single line. Is there a way for me to have Lightburn just trace the single line path?

Not at this time. That’s called a centerline trace, and we don’t have that yet. It’s something we’re working on.

Is there an opposite function of weld? If I had a circle image and wanted to put some flowers in the circle but needed to scale the flowers to be large, maybe the stems are out side the circle. Is there an easy way to purge the stems or anything else that is outside the circle?

I'm using the trace tool for the first time and adjusting the threshold setting. Lower I get the lighter details traced and higher I get the darker details traced but what if I need all of the details? Can you combine the traced objects or is there another way to grab the lighter and darker areas together?

How do you get the image to import in gray scale? I have imported some svg files and they all stay in color and aren't recognizable to trace

How did you get the eyes to change after the preview?

Nothing was changed. The preview is showing fills, and the edit window is in the default “outline” mode, not showing fills.

@@lightburnsoftware7189 hi, may i know why the printer couldn't read the image to be engraved?the cutting is function but not the engraving. It keeps engraving the lines instead of the image or wording.Please help. I'm using AtomStack A20 pro

This was super helpful! I'm using this tutorial to trace a drawing to laser cut right now. However, it traces the outsides of my lines, meaning if you draw a line, it's tracing both sides of the line rather than just following the path of the line. Is there a way to program Lightburn to just follow the thickness of my line as a path?

Hi, I’m still in the process of building my own laser. Meanwhile I’m looking in to different software and LB looks to be a great option. I have a question after watching this video. Is manually tracing possible?

LightBurn Software Yes, that’s what I was trying to ask for in my Norwegian English😊 I think that would be a great edition to the SW as the need for other SW would get even more reduced.
