LightBurn Camera Placement and Cable Routing

I would like to see more about the cables being hooked up at the end. I have the camera, USB and Female to Female connector, but it won't work when connected into the system. The camera cable shows fine, until I connect it with the machine USB. Maybe the cable is too long. I will try with a shorter cable. I'd just like to see more discussions on this topic.

We have ThunderCAM kit specific instructions on the support site that cover this but ultimately as long as you get the camera plugged into the computer you are running lightburn on that is all that matters. Some drill a hole and run the usb that way. This is all standard USB2.0 stuff. LightBurn has years of data and instruction for the LightBurn camera so we rely heavily on that as well. And yes, the longer and more "adapted" the usb cable is, the more likelyhood of connectivity issues.

@@ThunderLaserUSA Looks like I did follow the instructions you have posted at support.thunderlaserusa.com/support/solutions/articles/65000166052-thundercam-installation. I do have the same components as the Thunder kit. Lightburn camera, Lightburn USB cable, and female to female connector. The camera works fine with just the one cable from the camera to the laptop. It is when I connect the F2F connector that LB won't recognize it anymore regardless of the machine cables. I am looking at the LB support forum now. Thanks.

@@jarroddavis4025 yeah sounds like the extra adapters and length. You could try a powered hub. that works for many.

So on top of the usb cable coming from the camera to the pc. You still have to plug the pc into the laser with a separate cord right??? So 2 usb cables going to the pc.

Which way does the camera face ? When setting up upside down or normal facing ?

normal. the usb cable should be on the left looking at it from the front of the machine

Im trying to do this with my chinese laser. Im using an ethernet cable so my USB port is free. How can I hook up my lightburn camera through the USB on laser and make it work?

ultimately the camera connects to the computer and has nothing to do with the laser except it happens to be mounted to it. we provide some adapters to use the u-disk port on the side of our machines so you wont have to drill a hole but this is not necessary.
