Instead of using paint thinner (which is chemically designed to thin oil based paints), you should be using acetone for spray paints where they are ether based. Plus, you wash off the waste into a plastic or metal container, not down your drain where it will pollute your water system (either town water or your water table if you have a leach field).
@Putrid1864 ай бұрын
to piggyback off this, actually just check with your water authority for drainwater if you have city sewage. Many things actually CAN be drained down your normal city sewage (like antifreeze in most places, holy smokes) but never your leach field (like antifreeze, holy smokes)
@PhilipCook1236 ай бұрын
Use masking tape over anything you want to test run. You will have to lower your speed and power but once you get it dialed in just to mark it and not cut through, it works perfectly. I use blue masking tape because the marking turns out better.

Instead of using a masking paint that requires thinner or acetone to remove try using water washable tempera paint. Some people brush it on but I invested less than $100 on a Harbor Freight airbrush compressor/air brush set. Apply the tempera paint, let it dry, engrave your image and wash it off with water. That simple!

Hello! I am having issues with my Xtool D1 Pro Laser. I received it and tried it, the first try was perfect. Then the second time I tried it wouldn't work. The laser would move around but the laser light barely had any strength. It would move around as if it was doing the job and would take the amount of time the project would take, however there were no marks on the plywood or anything and the light was very very weak. You could barely see. I emailed customer service and it has now been a 3 month battle or recommendations and changes they want me to make which I have but nothing has solved the issue. I went ahead and tried another laser head which is the one for metals. I did 1 dog tag that came out beautiful. I went ahead and tried to do another dog tag....same thing happened....the light was too weak barely visible, the laser would move around as if it was doing de project but nothing would engrave. I didn't change anything on the setting from first project to second. I was working with pre-establish material settings. Power speed and all was verified and still nothing. Do you have any idea what it could be or how to fix it?

Very good question. Depending on the material, lower speeds and higher power may be best. Or higher speeds and lower power. This is why I recommend doing a cutting and engraving test file. It will help you to determine which setting is best for you. If you are use to 3d printing, then lasering will be no problem for you.

Home first. Then learn about where to start the job; current position vs exact dimensions. Also be aware of start location (the 9 dot grid). If you’re starting at top left and you’re engraving “selected items” they must be at that edge of your on screen project. In other words, if you have vertically, A, B, C and are only engraving B and C, it will skip the location of A even though you’re not outputting it. Also if you have the Blue laser head (with red crosshairs) make sure the Offset is on, for the IR head, it should be off. There are some great tutorials available. www.youtube.com/@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy this guy is good, but has the remarkable ability to take a strong five minute video and stretch it out to twenty. Loves to hear himself talk, but has lots of good info.
