In this video I take a look at Stark Future's innovative featherlight motorcross inner tubes. You're not going to believe how much lighter they are than traditional rubber inner tubes!

Bicycle tubes have had this technology for a while. They are about 2x stronger than a rubber tube and you can patch them if you get a phncture. Tubolito, Schwalbe and a few others sell them.

@b45her Do you realize how much money some people pay for titanium items to save a little weight. Saving around 5 lbs on rotative mass is innotive by just changing2 tubes. If it exists for more than 2 years in bicycles, why nobody did it before on motorcycle?

10x lighter, but probably 10x the price? I'm also curious about durability. If it's more durable but same cost or maybe a bit more, then it would truly be a benefit to the sport.

Thanks for another great vid. Appreciate your YT content in spite of all the "know it all"s" and "sarcastic" comments. I'm sure 98% of the dirt biking world (and Stark enthusiasts for that matter) don't or didn't know about these. I sure didn't. Super cool. Hope they are robust enough to endure a decent useful life. Keep up the great work, mine won't be here till November.

I do remember the president/owner of Stark saying that they looked at EVERYTHING on the bike to save weight, so I'm not surprised. This reminds me of another "issue" the EV's have... much more torque, which equals less tire life. It's an issue with automobiles, too. In fact, EV cars have special tires because of the increased weight and torque that they have. I wonder if the dirt bike tire manufacturers are going to start making special tires for electric dirt bikes? Again, I would not be surprised. Thanks and keep these cool videos coming... looks like you might have a good, new career as an influencer??? 😉

The tubes are not yet displayed on there website. I am wondering if they will not limit for now the tubes order to the varg owners, because if every rider start ordering them, they may not be able to respect production for now, until other companies start building the same tubes. Also they said that it is stronger than regular tubes. The big question will be the price of the tubes.

I always thought that tube and tire weight would be the next breakthrough technology. Normal tires and tubes are extremely heavy and they are unsprung weight! Since it is rotating mass it makes and incredible difference. Lighter tires please! And tubes!

Unsprung weight is very important weight to get rid of (allows your suspension to be much more responsive to movement). Additionally, weight at the ends of the bike (as apposed to the center of the bike) are even worse. This is good stuff. I'm assuming it holds up well enough if Tortelli and Hill didn't kill it.

Guys- this isn't new technology! My friend is the innovator of the Eclipse inner tube for bicycles which was back in 2009! On a MTB same story...his 29" innertube weighed 52g. It got tested against regular tubes in a comparicon test by a german MTB magazine and it proved to be the most reistant of like 20 tubes which included also a Downhill-innertube at like 350g. These tubes are out of Thermoplastic which is waaaay more resistant. It isn't as compliant, not as elastic so you have to pretty much have it made to size of the tire. The MTB innertubes had like 0,4mm thickness only. Already back then i told my friend he should do MX tubes...but anyway - he had too many conflicts with big companies and finally gave up. But such tubes are used in MTB of various manufacturers. The red ones are made by TUBOLITO. Those have exactly the same colour.

To weigh it properly place the scales on a plank sticking off the bench, put the inside of the tubes top on the scales. If the tube rests on the scales base use a tared off plate yo widen the scales top to stop it.

Actually if you race a mountain bikes you would run tubeless tires with liquid sealant. A tubeless setup is more work than using a tube...costs more...requies a pressure check (and usually a little air) before every ride. But if you want to lose 5 pounds of rotational weight and eliminate flats tubeless is the way to go. Not sure why companies like Dunlop don't make tubeless ready tires for motocross and cross country racing but there must be a good reason.
