Now this is how you deliver an instructional video!! Loved this scene set up! Now idk if I’ll ever use plates, but you inspired me with your step by step instructions, and the whole video just looked amazing! Bravo!

Car lights and a sheet or shower curtain as a defused... Simple clothes hanging rack can be the frame to hold the sheet/curtain can be bought at Walmart. If you need it to be wider then PVC pipes can make the rack taller or wider...

This was an amazingly instructive video. My only question is what camera settings have you used? I'm trying to shoot something at night and I'm doing some rehearsals of sorts, but I'm not 100% pleased with the image no matter the placement of the light in the shot. Can you help?

Did you use the 300d's full power. I am going to buy the 120d ii. Would that be enough power, or do you need something like a 300d? Great tutorial, I learned a lot! :-)
@shutterstocktutorials
@shutterstocktutorials 5 жыл бұрын
Hey there! We were actually using about 50% output for the 300d on most of the shots. I'd bet you'd be able to get away with using a 120d! -Robbie

@@shutterstocktutorials ok, thank you for answering Robbie. By the way I loved the tip with the car to take one shot with the light close and another one with it out of frame, bet still shining some light to the scene. I have always just taken a clean plate with the light off, but then it doesn't seem natural and you can see the mask. I will definitly use that trick next time!

moral of the story? goto the hardware store and buy some super cheap flood lights so you don't have to screw around with a huge amount of masking work in post. You can move your camera and you can also film cut aways and pick up shots and you know... actual film making stuff. Instead of being tied down to one shot. Multiple takes for the same shot and spending a huge amount of time in post simply because you cant spend 20$ on some flood lights from a hardware store.
