One can get all the items from lightwire suppliers a lot cheaper, I found one in UK and they have so many more options than lightmode offer. I'm going to power mine from my bikes 12v system so I don't have battery packs and switches on helmet. I'll also install a switch so I don't drain the battery when bike is out of use for long periods. I'll use a strong clear 3m tape to fix the wire to my expensive helmet so I can remove the wire and put it on a new helmet if or when I want.

This helmet is great it's supposedly long oval but I have an intermediate oval head and it's just fine so keep that in mind .

I love LightMode.. My buddy has it for his helmet and i was gonna get red for mine. The process is time consuming and a pain in the ass honestly, but it looks cool and definitely gets looks. I just wish the battery pack was smaller, the damn thing is bigger than my Sena lol great video ZJ :)

Do a search online. You can buy electroluminescent wire, EL tape and the drivers/inverters separately for much cheaper online. They are just packaging it in a kit with some string and some glue for quite a bit more. You can also by inverters that you wire right into the bike so you don't have to mess with batteries and worry about run times.

i think if the battery was smaller and there was a better way to hold them down so you dont see the little globs of glue under them i would like it more. cool idea though and definitely ads a level of safety and coolness if you dont have high viz stuff on the back of your helmet.

after awhile the colour fades and burnout if you live in a hot country like i do the sun fades the crap out of it so really you need 2 helmets a day helmet and a night helmet to attach the lightmode to it.

Was going to point out that blue lights and the fact that they flash on an off rapidly aren’t legal in some states, such as mine, but the fact that it’s a turquoise, cyan, teal lookin color... it may just he legal! :O

The glue doesn't come off its almost like a super glue, but LightMode has a guarantee on their products and plans for reimbursement if the product screws up your helmet. One is for a helmet put to $200 and the other is for up to $500, you do have to pay extra for it though...Check out the website.

I was considering this for my Arai. Only issue is that I know some states have light color laws. I know the OP said he's in Boston, I'm in NH. You sure you're not going to get flak from the PD around for having blue. I've been told before that red (other than tail lights) and blue are illegal because they're designated to emergency vehicles. Any info related to this?

Not sure about where your at, but in Texas, and I would assume it's similar to other states, you can have blue or red as long as you keep the strobe off unless I'm a concealed/private area.

Brendan Dupont The blue/red lights not permitted most likely relates to bright lamps on a vehicle, not a much dimmer decorative lights on a helmet which improve safety. From the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario: "...a police department vehicle may carry lamps that cast red and blue lights, but no other motor vehicle shall carry any lamp that casts red and blue lights to the front." This makes sense because cops don't want people to confuse those with emergency vehicles. Such narrow definitions are then freely extrapolated in forums to cover all kinds of lights...

bought this for my helmet-my old spare one thank God as it makes it look rubbish in daytime amount of glue i had to put on it lol....Biggest gripe is it last me less than a week in UK weather as the motherboard in controller got wet in the rain and it fried,is not in any way shape or form made waterproof-i mean come on thats basic haha i ordered a replacement control box which they gave me a 70% discount on,but after import tax i paid same as whole kit cost me originaly,but this time i put inside a plastic waterproof bag then smothered with electrical tape to keep rain out-makes it a nightmare to change the batteries,but so far has last me 6 months so worth the hassle of taking tape off every time need change battery. Highly reccomended if want pose at night,does look cool,but beleive me its not waterproofed at all so do what need or your wasting your money! (Oh and after sales when complained said because i put the larger strip over battery box rather than how they suggested in their vids voided warrentee-which is BS,but be warned,they get out of it legally if have a problem,they will!)
