Lightning Does Strike Twice With a Tudor GMT Pepsi ( Date Issue Again !!! 2021)

I have had many people wanting me to do a follow up on my Tudor GMT date issue video. Well I think now is the time to do one. I have also had many people share with me their own experiences with their very own GMT. So sit back and have a watch ;)

Pleased i stopped you. Like i say i love the watch it is amazing but paying that money to get a flawed design is wrong. They can't even fix it. Go for a Omega I say :)

I bought one this year, runs perfectly. The dealer says any GMT shipped after late 2020 has not had the issue. Not one. This is a mega-Tudor watch dealer...two locations near Los Angeles. Mine runs perfectly...my new fave, of three Tudors and many other nice watches.

My GMT has the same problem. But this time there is a twist. Returned to Tudor Service Centre by my AD. 5 weeks later, informed that they would not even investigate the issue unless I agreed for them to replace the bezel which has a minute scratch on it, barely visible to the naked eye. The quotation for this being £309. Watch returned to my AD un-repaired, who I are in complete agreement with me that Tudor are being unreasonable. It’s like have a scratch on the boot of your car, and using that as an excuse not to repair a known engine fault. Tudors argument is that the scratch on the Bezel might compromise the water resistance of the watch, and hence their Warranty. I wasn’t even aware that the bezel had any interaction with the water resistance of a watch, and certainly not by a scratch visible under a magnifying glass? I would be interested to hear if anybody else had encountered Tudors obstructiveness over this issue, and any thoughts on a way forward. Thanks.

That's way out of line, what does a bezel scratch do to water resistance of the watch? You shouldn't agree to their reasoning for it's completely irrelevant.

My dad has the same Tudor Pepsi GMT. Same problem with the date. Kept time just fine, but the date was screwed up. Took it to a local watchmaker and he got it back today (ironic). Date function seems to be working now.....but we'll be keeping an eye on it for a while.

See i'm so tempted to have a look myself and see how the date function works. Looking from pictures seems a standard mechinism to most watches. But being in warrenty don't want to do that. Hopefully your dad has more look than me :)

I was considering purchasing one of these from a grey dealer at a good discount. After so many other videos regarding this and now this video, I have 0 confidence in the BB GMT. There are a bunch of Tudor/Rolex fanboys that will tell you their watches are awesome, but I can already tell that this is going to be a nightmare to deal with when it eventually does happen.

My Tudor GMT started developing this date issue a couple of weeks ago. Date stuck halfway. I left it running until next day, date advanced 2 days. Let it continue running again and advanced another 2 days. Purchased March 2019, received in May 2019, rarely worn, “I” serial. Will be taking it back to my AD…

I have had the GMT since its release with no issues until a couple of weeks ago. Mine started loosing time. I reset it one time then it just stopped working altogether. It’s back being repaired under warranty hopefully it’ll be fixed.

I bought mine last May 25, 2022. Hopefully that issue is fixed by now knowing that the same movement is being used with the BB Pro.

I haven't had any problems with the date wheel. I wear the 2019 version GMT with Tudor"s "in-house" movement!

Really disappointing. My Black Bay 41 is still in good shape after two years but knowing how badly Tudor shat the bed on this issue, I won't be adding any more to the collection. This must be going on four years since this problem was discovered. On a positive note, I do see a Parnis GMT in my future 🤣🤣

My watch was bought in July 2018! So it's an really early batch. Had no issues until just now, which is why i landed here on this video... My datewheel skips a full day sometimes, so it does not land in between two days as most other. My 3,5 years of warranty are soon over. So, i'm not sure what to do when i get the watch back from Tudor...

This is getting so old, it's obviously a huge design or parts issue in this movement. Why Tudor can't seem to verbalize what the issue is and how to fix it, means honestly, I don't think they understand it either. Not the way for a luxury brand to function.

I have an original 2018 model that had the date issue. I sent it back, and it had the same issue again after about 4 or 5 weeks. Now its hard for me to wear it because the date issue bothers me so much. I think I’m going to trade it in. I don’t know what they will do though.

This isn't the first time Tudor has design issue...about 10 yrs ago I bought the heritage chrono which also have some issue. Everytime I press the chrono, the minute hand will move forward n springback...although the timing was still ok, its irritating to see this happening everytime i press the chrono.. I understand this issue was caused by the smaller movement house in a larger case n using a longer stems on the chrono buttons. These are basic standard watch function n not so complicated movement so how can this happen. Its really a shame...n now with this gmt pepsi issue, it goes to show how bad Tudor design n engineering dept is...even now the latest GMT design with the yellow gmt hand, has a date issue. Confident has shaken for watch lovers like me.

Great video and thanks for the update. I really like the BB GMT however the date issue is still occurring with many owners. I eventually gave up and decided to purchase a Rolex 16710 and couldn't be happier. Much more expensive of course but life is short. What's more dissapointing is that Tudor is a little brother to Rolex and they build one of the most robust GMT movements on the market? Cheers

I've had no issues with mine bought in dec 2020. I did see about a week ago it was a day ahead, that might be because i had it at the wrong 12 hour interval, or it could be the start of the date issue.

You would have seemingly remembered having reset it and being 12 hours ahead. It’s most likely the date issue

@@stevenc9207 could well be. I could easily have had it wrong though when setting it. It's not a watch that usually stops as it sits in a winder but I was playing around with the gmt hand a few days before. We will see all good at the moment

Mine developed that exact issue a few months outside the warranty. So I guess I'm fucked. Did anybody fix it at their own expense? If so, what am I looking at?

Had a used 2020 from AD only just over a week and it’s adding a day to the date so it’s going back in tomorrow to AD to go back to Tudor 🙈

Need a GMT, I just wear two watches. All my 3 Tudors will never have any date issues as they have no date. The Tudor GMT is a very nice looking watch but the date wheel issue would have to be completely fixed once and for all before I buy one.

Bought a ‘Q’ serial Tudor GMT from A.D. in June 2020. No date wheel issues yet, but have had some very concerning tactile feedback when winding the movement. Seems to have resolved itself before I could get it back to the A.D., but for a period of around 2 weeks after having not worn the watch for a month or so, I found the winding of the crown to be very gritty with lots of resistance. Not at all like the buttery smooth sensation I was used to. It almost felt like I’d over wound the main spring, but this couldn’t have been the cause as I was experiencing this issue from the point of winding the watch from a dead stop. No idea what it could have been down to, but it seems to have resolved itself. Thought maybe the lubricant had become slightly viscous due to lack of use, but surely not when you consider the modern materials and service intervals..... Who knows, but I think there may be more wrong with this movement than just the one issue.....

So Tudor who have an in-house GMT movement should use Breitling's GMT movement? The Breitling GMT movement that was an ETA 2893 and is now the Sellita 330? The 'Breitling GMT movement' that isn't a true GMT movement? And then you explain yourself, why 'new' Tudors still have the date issue, because they're grey market watches from when the model first came out. Der? I have had the Tudor GMT from new from my local AD (who can't get enough of them , demand is so high, and is selling 10 or so a week) since August 2020. No probs. Nor have the 40-odd watches he's sold since then. Maybe your local AD just doesn't sell enough and still has old ones?

Tudor who have an in house movement which you pay up to £3k for but has a fault. A fault which they don't seem to fix either. Would rather have a 3rd party movement in the watch that worked. And yes i know the 2893 is not a true GMT (Have one in my Horizon) But at £800 i have had no faults with it what so ever. My brietling Steelfish has an ETA 2826 in it and yet again no issues. As for the grey market arguement I know at least two of the people that sent me emails bought them from a big European AD who i doubt would still have GMT watches from over a year ago. The UK guy I got a email from was Goldsmiths. At the end of the day I have paided a premium for a watch that should work without any issues. However stuck with a watch that can't even get a sample date function right, even an Seiko NH36 can do that right ;)

The AD (Baker Brothers Bedford) where I go mine last week said there was a second small batch that had the issue - but should be fine now i am keeping an eye on it though - I was lucky that they had two in stock.

Your living in a wonderful state of denial. A simple internet search would show you that the quantity of people having issues is crazy high. In addition, a simple search shows you that multiple people with 2020-2021 watches are having issues, many from authorized dealers.

Except that modern Rolex movements also have issues..with date changing and amplitude/accuracy loss.
