On April 17, 2024, I attached a GoPro to a rain covered window and recorded a 30 minutes video of a lightning storm at 240 frames per second. I kept only the clips that had lightning visible, reducing the video to just over 10 seconds. I converted the 240 frames per second video to 30 frames per second, which slowed down the video by a factor of 8. I slowed down the results by half again, making the video presented here 16 times slower that real time.
Camera:
GoPro Hero 8 Black Video mode at 4K and 240 fps.
Software:
Video editing software Shotcut to keep just lightning clips and convert from 240 fps to 30 fps.
Video editing software Adobe Premiere Elements to slow the edited video further.
