The wrecks at Tangalooma, Moreton Island, have had their superstructures removed. Deemed to be too dangerous. We spend two weeks each year on holiday there and have dived on the wrecks innumerable times.Fantastic sea life.

when the fishing society keeps on telling to use non corrosive hooks for fishing just because when it snapped/lose, it wont corrode in the sea and "pollute" the waters with rust...

The ships in Benicia, CA are the mothball fleet. They are kept in a state of readiness so they can support the navy if needed. They aren’t just floating and left to rot. The Navy makes sure they are ready to be refitted with equipment and weigh anchor to support the military if the need arises.

There must not be enough money in scrap metal. I just saw a lot of it.
@KumaBean3 жыл бұрын
Scrap steel from WW2 era and before is worth more than the scrap steel of today, it's referred to as 'low background steel'. This is due to all of the nuclear testing after the war, steels became contaminated. Because of its higher value, the steel from sunken WW2 vessels has been stolen, from what are effictively war memorials. Low-background steel is used to manufacture medical and scientific equipment. 🍻

There are boats and submarines in the middle of deserts around the world.
@WedgeTornado2.63 жыл бұрын
Well true because it could have been a lake that evaporated from the heat of the sun and that causes ships to be in the desert or maybe it was moved from a ufo

Never understood why ships are so worthless after their service? Seems they would make awesome real-estate inland "right off down town!" What value would they have then?
