The city proper has under 200,000 people.
There are 3 lines that cumulatively have a weekday ridership of 67,000. The system is over 40 miles long and has 50 stations.

To clarify to everyone, this was filmed on possibly a Saturday afternoon where it's at it's emptiest, this isn't at peak times which is when it's the busiest and most packed, trust me they're used

I completely trust u 'coz all the system is unusually (for US) rightly done: high speed, seldom located stations, fully dedicated lines, not waiting at traffic-lights.

@@poshmalosh14 I think this is what he meant: I believe you. Because the system was unusually well designed (for the US). High speeds, good distance between stations, separated rail tracks from car traffic, therefore no wait time at traffic lights. 😉

It wouldn’t be Saturday because (at least they used to) only run the newer cars on the weekend.

As a former Trax operator, I can answer some of the questions here. If it is a one car train, it was filmed on a Sunday or during a non-peak revenue period. The empty 4 cars are either about to see heavy service, just finished heavy service or are being routed back to the railyard. On an average weekday rush hour evening, I would load up to 100 passengers per stop. It gets used I promise.

For local fares it is 2.50, each platform has ticket kiosks at each end. If your kiosk isn't working properly, just board the train and at you destination you can pay. UTA police regularly patrol the trains and check tickets and the fine is hefty for failure to pay.

I love the trax system. I use t to get to school! But they need to update the blue line! Badly!!! They are constantly having doors malfunction, sometimes the heating doesn’t work when it’s 17 degrees, and it is a real pain to get my bike up the stairs.

Agreed, I love TRAX but living on the Blue Line feels like living in 1999. The doors and heating break more often now despite their claims of a "state of good repair".

After living in CO for half a year, I've found it isn't really what I've expected (while there are great opportunities in Denver the cost of living is relatively expensive, so I ended up moving south to Colorado Springs which doesn't have great public transit). I've decided after some research and really looking into long-term strategic growth, I will be moving to SLC this May. This is because the UTA system looks convenient (especially frontrunner) and good job opportunities matched with a decent cost of living in comparison to CO's big cities. I've found that my personal preference is a smaller city with the convenience of light-rail, and a higher millennial demographic (late 20s to mid 30s). Colorado Springs is better as a retirement town. SLC is also closer to the mountains and airport which is great so that I can visit family in CA without much trouble. :)

I assume that if I buy a ticket from a machine, I can use the same ticket to transfer onto say from a green train to a blue or red train. Additional question I have is how do I buy fares if I need to take a Trax and then connect to a ski bus? Do I need to buy two separate fares?

They really should get new longer trams. The dead space between cars could be used to fit more people.

In august I´m moving to SLC, I´m going to the U of U, and I wanted to know if there are some routes that go all around the campus or if they drop you on a certain entrance of campus. Also are you allowed to get in with a bike? And do they work until midnight? Public transport from where I come from its REALLY bad, so this system is completely new for me but I´m really excited.

I'm not sure as far as bus routes go, but the campus does have it's own bus system bringing people around the campus. Also, the Red Line Trax terminates right near the Medical Center and there are two or three other stops on campus.

The TRAX Red Line passes through the U of U campus and terminates near U of Utah Medical Center. It has many connections with both the campus system and the numerous UTA bus routes on campus.

I live in the UK I'm afraid, so my knowledge of 'foreign' trams is only what I glean from videos, - your excellent ones mainly. Whilst I collect model trams - none British - I hasten to add, not that many 'motorized' UK ones are made, I just love the variety Worldwide.

Denver has the same models of SD-100/160, yep! Same with San Diego, and I think a handful of Canadian systems, too. They're not terribly popular anymore, and I wish UTA would move entirely to the S70.
