Thank you for your clear explanation. I use Lightroom in the cloud, and there I can use an intersect mask, both in the small icon and in the large icon!

Great explanation. I found the examples very effective...

Basically the first mask selection is just that-- a selection like a lasso selection in PS. Then the intersect "brush" allows you to do whatever just within the first mask selection.

Matt, thanks for the clear demonstration of the new tool. Here I just thought the “intersection” feature was a way that Adobe used to oppress the masses.

Note that you can hold the OPTION key on Mac (ALT on Windows, I think?) while in the Masks panel, and the "Add" and "Subtract" buttons then turn into a single "Intersect" button, in case you prefer that over the right-click and menu selection method (at least in Lightroom Classic, which is the only place I've used this so far).

Hey Matt. This was outstanding! I can't tell you how much I was confused by this tool and you have explained this so well! You have simplified what some continue to "speak over our heads". Thank you and I'm very grateful!

Kind of surprising that Select Sky does not get the reflection sky too?
@JimRobertson2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matt, much clearer now. Question though. When masking there is sometimes a fringe that gets missed and I have a hard time dealing with it. For example with the girl in the sweater there is a green fringe around the sweater, it is there all the way around, more noticeable on the right sleeve. (see 4:50 in the video) Is there a way to deal with this? Thanks
@JimRobertson2 жыл бұрын
I just noticed that the fringe was there from the very start!! So in this case it wasn't a masking/selection issue....

Hi. I had a subject (a duck) with its reflection in water: I would like to increase the colors in the reflection. It would seem that intersect would work, especially like the Photoshop intersect section in this video. Would that be correct? How would you do this? Thank you.
@isoawe18882 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matt. Did you notice on the first image that there was a bright green halo around sweater? What caused that?
@MattKloskowski2 жыл бұрын
Hi. If you look the halo was there before. She’s very backlit. Changing the sweater accentuated it but it was always there.
