So everyone got two free Fastpasses to ride anything except Peter Pan, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Meet Mickey. I'd be straight off to Space Mountain and Splash Mountain. Totally worth it.

@@WickedlyMe328 I didn't mean to sound as though I was complaining. The cast members did a tremendous job in escorting everyone off the ride and explaining the situation. With the amount of people they had to get off the ride I can only imagine how frantic that must have been for them. Plus, I got to use both my fastpasses in that limited time frame so even better!

We got really lucky because they fixed whatever the problem was so when we got to the end we were told to stay put and ride again. It was awesome. Worth the time for sure

Happens a lot actually. Most of the time it is dropped cellphones, bags, shoes, clothing attire, you name it. If the sensors pick up anything on or near the track the ride stops and the castmembers have to do a complete walkthrough and run it for 30 minutes before guests are allowed back on.

Last time I was at Disneyland (2012 for my younger autistic brother’s high school graduation present) and we went on this ride, we were at the grand ballroom part when minor technical difficulties occurred and we had to sit there for about 5 minutes. Some people were getting frustrated, but I had fun watching the dancing ghosts and wandering how the effects were done. Plus it’s one of my favorite parts of the ride so that helped out a bit. Wasn’t until a couple years ago I learned what the special effects were

At 9:30 what's really amazing to see is how much actual empty space is behind the "doom buggies" as they're entering the ballroom scene. You would never ever see this otherwise. I'm pretty sure that extra space, directly below the evacuating guests, is what's housing all of the actual props and turn tables and hardware to start the Pepper's Ghost effect in the show scene.

Late to the comment party, but catwalks are "secret passageways" often used by maintenance personnel. Having a patron of the park use them is often dangerous and difficult, especially if someone has a mobility disability.

the entrance is only a small building. you can exit the other building in case of an emergency but you wouldnt be in the park anymore

Have ridden that ride multiple times. It's nice to see what you can't see when the ride is operating and the lights are out. It's also nice to know that the emergency escape is a regular walkway and not a catwalk with ladders.

Oh my gosh, THIS IS MY DREAM!!! 😍 I would have taken my time taking photos and trying to sign that book in the library! In Disneyland I got stuck at: The bolder scene in Indiana Jones and had to walk off after 1 hour Stuck on it’s a small world for 10 minutes (my favorite ride but my hubby wasn’t so happy) The increda coaster (walked off after 45 minutes) Saw someone throw up in the middle of the hallway scene at the haunted mansion (guest was drunk. They called someone to put the powder down to clump it up) Pirates of the Caribbean waterfall (stuck for 25 minutes about to go up it) Jungle Cruise, the boat I was on lost power so another skipper brought another boat (on the side because the main boats are on a track) and took us the docking area. All of these didn’t happen the same day (thank god)! I hope I get stuck on Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion (my 2nd favorite ride).

They just unlocked the bars on our cart and helped us out, walked a few steps to the unload gate. It turned out someone’s t-shirt had fallen into the track. I saw them pull it out, all covered in oil.

As someone who loves to work behind the scenes, I was amazed with what you don’t get to see on the ride as well as how employees compensate customers for the i convenience. I work at a theme park in Missouri on the train and it is difficult to compensate them with courtesy passes when there’s 200 of them getting off at one time. Great video!

What a treat! I got stuck on Splash Mountain, just after the drop. If it had happened a few seconds earlier, we would have been stuck at the top. That would have been stressful. When we got escorted off, we went past some of the animatronics, and into a large indoor area with a ton of stairs leading us through water pipes and machinery. Got fast passes afterwards, but that was just a bonus.

Years ago my friend and I were stuck on The Pirates Of The Caribbean ride when they sent out too many boats at one time. We started colliding into each other when we got stuck. They came out in big wading boots and tried to push the boats loose. It wasnt working until someone on our boat said that maybe if we all lean to one side it will loosen and thats exactly what happened. Then the other boats were loosened and we just traveled along our way.

I wonder if it’s based off of how much time guests are waiting to get off the ride. The Pirates exit takes you through some backstage areas - very cool to see! I'm working under an attraction ride, and for getting an evacuation time is 1 out of 10. The need of evacuation is only if the ride techinal issue can't be fix or there is a fire alarm occurs.

I love the Pepper's Ghost Effect. That's like one of THEE BEST effects ever! And I love Disney's Haunted Mansion ride. I'd been to Disney World once and that only time was really cool cause I got to ride it. I love how the cast members were definitely apologetic for the ride breaking down and all, even though it wasn't their fault. Accidents DO happen as well as unforeseen mechanical issues.

i got stuck on the HM at disneyland when i was a kid, right under the screaming raven in the tree. 20 minutes later, i was insane. what would be great is if they made some additional animation for when the ride stops, and the dancing couples stop, look up at you, and then start coming upstairs to get you.

When I first started watching this video, I thought it was filmed at the haunted mansion in Disneyland in California. It wasn’t until I saw the part with the staircases going off in an Escher-like fashion that I realized it was the mansion in Walt Disney World in Florida! Love the haunted mansion ride! This truly is a dream come true to be able to walk through the ride as extensively as these people did! Incidentally, when I was riding the mansion in Disneyland in California, the ride stopped just as we were on the balcony overlooking the grand ballroom. It was only stopped for a few minutes, but I totally lucked out by being in that position at the time when it stopped. Got to take in the ballroom scene for a few minutes, and the work lights stayed off, too!

Been on this ride a few times...one of our favourites. Interesting that a cast member has to release (appears to be with some effort!) the retaining bar and front of the doom buggy. Just out of interest...if there was a fire on this ride, is the release automatic or would it still require a cast member to save the riders? 🤔

I suspect they have both fail-safe and fail-secure options. In the case of a fire, fail-safe would happen, all bars would release, lights on, all exits available. In the case of a ride breakdown, fail-secure makes more sense, you can release and escort people off the ride in a controlled manner. (thus being guided to the one exit).

The buggies aren’t difficult to open if you know what to push. First time opening a buggy takes like ten minutes but once you do it a couple times, it is pretty easy. But evacs can leave you with some pretty nasty bruises on your legs. No, there is not an automatic opening of the buggies in the case of a fire. It is faster and safer to keep the ride running and getting them out at the exit.

Every time I've been in the doombuggys, the bar barely even touches me. I could hop out if I wanted to. I would assume that is the case for most people and if a fire happens, I don't think anyone is waiting. Just jump out!

Back in '72 when my family went to Disney World while on the Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs ride it broke down and we went through a similar experience. Seeing a ride like that under work lights instead of the intended show lighting was a bit disappointing. I think they took us forward from our stopping point so the parts we saw under the work lights were sections we hadn't been to yet. I think we were about 1/2 the way through when the ride stopped. Then another time a few years later (76 or 77?) I was at an Amusement park when a ride broke down was at Bush Garden's in Williamsburg, VA. It was one of the mini roller coasters (in the German area I think) my brother, my dad, and I were just starting to get into the cars when the ride attendant told us to hold up and get out of the car, he then rushed to the control panel to stop the ride. Apparently some alarm had gone off because one of the cars got too close to the car in front of it somewhere along the ride. The interesting thing was the family that was in front of us in line who had gotten in the car that had just a minute before started the ride was a mother with her 2 sons (like 9 and 10?). The mom didn't want to go on the ride but the sons had convinced her to get on it. They got stuck on the top of the first incline of the ride. I think it took more than a half hour for the park staff to get everyone off the ride. Later in the day the ride was eventually reopened but it was an experience.

its so amazing how well disney handles these things and it comes down imho to having so many staff. at your average park theres probably between 3 and 8 people working a ride so in an evac they just get you off and kick you to the curb whereas disney has dozens working most rides and can have people giving fast passes and letting you off and apologizing simultaneously.

I remember Disneyland in the mid 70s going on this ride there. It was one of the BEST and so is the PIRATES.

on my bucket list is to get evacuated from a ride lol I was in Disneyland years ago and Indiana jones stopped right at the boulder,,,i freaked but the ride continued on after about a minute

It's cleaner than I expected. I guess because the effects make it look like a dusty old abandoned house when the ride is operating.
