Interesting light. But it's bad that all lights follow the lumen race and fool ignorant buyers. This light could probably put out 3000-4000lm constant brightness for 1 hour or so and that is true performance. The drop from 10000 to 800lm almost instantly is just ridicilous and it's more or less a lie to advertize it as a 10000lm light.

I agree the market needs to embrace better advertising for an ever-more-knowledge customer base... Peak output is perfectly fine to claim, but show your work and acknowledge that that much heat invariably leads to thermal stepdown. Using 10k lumens for 5 -10 seconds is fine and dandy - stepping down to 800 is fine, too. That's plenty of useable light and it's very impressive to hold it that long... Having more info about runtimes for other output levels (2k, 1k, 500, etc) would be good to know and might make this a way more appealing general-use light with that flashy burst of monstrous output when needed.

@@eckyeckypikangI mean... they do acknowledge it... Pretty much every flashlight manufacturer lists runtimes for each mode to include "turbo" and stepdown time / output. This is a tired and meaningless complaint. It's like asking a car company to stop advertising peak horse power because you can't actually use peak HP all the time. Also, this particular light comes set up with "ramping" so there's really no way to give you other output levels, because it is effectively infinitely variable between low output and high. There's also very obviously an indepth review video in the product listing right below the photos that explains everything including output measurements and runtime graphs.

I can’t find this one in silver anywhere. Did they stop making them? I really wanted to get one with the extension tube but it looks like I’m out of luck. Anyone know where I can get one and will they make them again or is it over? Seems like if they want to make more money they would make more or come out with the new version. Is there a long version of the FT01 one or the FT02?

Dude apparently had some serious issues as a salesman... But word around town has been that things have drastically improved - at least as long as you don't expect easy or rapid contact response. I can't say I've ever ordered from him, but I've been surprised by some of the more recent positive commentary from those who have.

I had an issue with an order that never was resolved and I had time to reach back out and he fixed it right away. While things are improving I think it’s the classic challenges of a small business operating beyond their customer base scale

It's a matter of heat... 10k lumens gets stupid hot, extremely fast. Hot enough to burn your hand, hot enough to burn out the electronics - turbo is for momentary use. Stepping down that hard is to be expected without more thermal mass, cooling fins or active cooling fans. 800 lumens, sustained for 6 hours is more impressive to me than thousands of lumens for a few seconds - that's quite a lot of light you can use for a very long time. I'd imagine it'll run even longer starting at something like 500 lumens. You might think such drastic differences in output are a negative - until you see just how much light 800 lumens is in practical use.
