Yeesh, that CNC part looks like it’d be a _royal_ PITA to machine! Out of curiosity, what would have been the actual charge to have PCB Way do that for a customer? (I’m sure it’d still be way, way cheaper than any CNC service here in the US.)

(I’m sure it’d still be way, way cheaper than any CNC service here in the US.) - And clever thought to use a 3D printer nozzle to guide the wire when winding the spring, I’ve tucked that away in the back of my mind for whenever needed 👍😁 (Likewise using the lathe itself for that; I could see the carriage drive for threading being great for controlling the spacing of the coils).

Wow, I just found your channel and am blown away! (Immediate subscribe and bell-check, which I almost never do) The sheer number of practical techniques you casually step through for solving problems, not to mention your intelligent, methodical way of diagnosing the problems in the first place packs in more value per unit time than most any other channel on YT. For the eventual nozzle assembly, I know virtually nothing about fluid dynamics, especially at such small dimensions, but I wonder if there might be a way to encourage laminar flow to keep the fuel stream together for longer after it exits the nozzle? (See my note at the bottom though, maybe there’s no need as the flow would already be laminar with such a small hole of any significant length.) I don’t know if liquid entering a tapering cavity would maintain its laminar structure or not, but I wonder if passing the fuel through a honeycomb of fine tubes in a larger diameter section before then tapering down to the 3 mil aperture might have some useful effect? Cutting them to length without leaving ragged ends that would defeat the whole purpose could be tricky, but it occurred to me that a packed array of fine tubes (hypodermic needles of whatever gauge, cut to length?) stuffed into the chamber ahead of the aperture might result in smooth, laminar flow up till that point. Then, rather than simply having a 3 mil hole in a flat plate, put it at the bottom of a 45 degree or longer taper. I thought of laminar flow because that’s the trick used in those “jumping fountains” or whatever they’re called, where packets of water leap through the air as perfect, undisturbed cylinders: The nozzles have a tightly packed array of small tubes in them so all the water is moving smoothly in the same direction without any turbulence before exit. In practice, it’s amazing how stable and coherent the little cylinders of water are over long distances. I don’t know if this would work on such a small scale though: The tiny diameter of the orifice probably results in a pretty coherent stream anyway, particularly if it has a relatively high aspect ratio and nice smooth walls 🤷‍♂️ (If you’re still here, thanks for indulging my verbosity 😂 - And thanks for the channel 😁)

If you were to put a hefty spring behind the piston in your original fuel tank, you could then pump your fuel in under pressure from an external pump and have the energy to drive it as stored. you could use whatever pump you liked then and the unit wouldn't need a pump or a motor. CO2 was another thought for power.
