Was there a story reason for the Halcyon having lightsaber training?

Shug Drabor built the training Dojo, to honor the Jedi that saved the ship on an early voyage back in the high republic era. It was in issue #1 of Halcyon Legacy.

I'm hoping that someone will eventually take measurements of this and share them so makers like me can build our own. It's a cool design and I wouldn't mind having one on my wall but won't take a cruise on the Halcyon any time soon. It would also be nice if someone going on a cruise took notes of the holders for the shields on the wall so those could be reproduced at home. It looks like a good candidate for 3d printing.

You could try and use a Covertec setup and modify your outfit some so it could carry the shield. But you'd likely need 2 connector sets if it's as heavy as you imply. You'd also want something like a harness (like Captain America wears) to both sew into the back of your outfit and the Covertec rigs. It's doable... but it might take away a bit from the type of Jedi your outfit concept is based on.

A really simple way of bringing that shield with you without having to carry it in your hand would be to put a loop of material (nlon, leather, fabric, etc) on your belt then just put the loop around the handle. This is not too different hoe Medieval and Renaissance people carried a small shield called a buckler, although they tended to carry it by putting the rip over the hjilt of their swords. But the idea is basically the same, carry it on your belt. Alternately, you could add two hooks to you belt, sort of like what you use to carry a lightsaber hilt, and then put that handles on that, but it might not might be as secure as a loop would be though. But a pair of hooks might hold the shield a little tighter so that it soesn't move around as much. Disney really needs to offer something to go along with that shield, like a blaster toy that interacts with it. Mkae it sort of like a laser stage gun but add an actually light in addition toe the laser or IR light so that you can kind of see the blaster "firing" at you. That would make the shield much more interesting, although it might be fun to use it with a chape lightsaber for a bit of sword and buckler dueling. I wonder if people have started to or will start to take these apart and use the guts to put into a custom shield design like people did with the lightsabers. It would be expensive as ahell given that it's a Starcruiser exclusive but I could see some collectors buyinga a customer shield, maybe one that's strong enough for use in dueling.

I think the packaging for the training shield is kind of meta: it doesn't say Star Wars on the packaging, it says Chandala Star Line.. so it isn't a Star Wars toy, it's an in-world reproduction of the shield you used on the Halcyon. Maybe I'm under thinking it, but couldn't you use a messenger bag or a cross body bag to carry your shield? I think personally if they would have built it on some sort of gauntlet it would have made it so much easier to carry and look cooler if it was like built into some sort of gauntlet you could wear because when you look at some of the Star Wars characters that produce a shield from their wrist it's usually on some sort of gauntlet so I just think that that would be a cooler way to carry it or have it be interchangeable you could put it in your hand or attach it to a gauntlet of some sort just my thoughts on it LOL LOL thanks for the video I always enjoy your stuff keep up the great content 😁

@@Dan-O I am not saying I do not like your content, more I’m not happy with the manner that Disney is going about merchandising the IP ad infinitum with out much regard for what came before, I get that the hotel experience is exactly that but it’s clear that it has been made with one eye firmly on creating exclusive (and in my opinion questionable) merch to get the punters spending even more.
