@samperkelt14968 жыл бұрын
That would be very hard, but the problem is to have enough pressure in the tank to keep the airplane in the air, i think it would be almost impossible, but i haven't finished school jet, so i don't really know a lot about the subject

+Awesome Meister you never had a "airhogs" toy as a kid. 15 years ago i had one that was powered by a on board plastic air tank,. the thing ran for a while. was prob cheaper than what it cost to make the can air tank.

Also some dude recently diy'd that with a 3d printed engine and a soda bottle. Tom Stanton or Stranton or straton or some similar such name.

GREAT idea, the beer/soda cans as an air tank... an ULTRA LIGHT air tank. LOVE IT! BUT (always a but out there). Do wrap that can tank with something like cloth, that way IF/when it does let go the cloth will absorb any possible shards. HECK even *"The handyman's handy dandy secrete weapon"* cloth duct tape will work nicely. Although personally I'd try to find a little thicker can[s] or maybe the newer soda/beer aluminum bottles. *ONE nice thing using those cans, the bottom is concave for a reason, releasing excessive pressure.*

A recommendation: add a pressure release valve or make a makeshift one by drilling a hole and covering it with several layers of tape. This will prevent it from rupturing.

@zumbazumba110 жыл бұрын
Why dont you simply use deoderant tank or air refreshners -those things are made to whitstand a pressure and they are light and cheap.Will be better than beer cans for sure. To safely empty one all you need to do is slam the valve on ground(it will drop inside can) when TANK IS EMPTY AND HAS NO PREASSURE IN IT(simply hold it and let all things out untill nothing comes out)-its safe i did it before no matter what they say on warning label -those warnings are for idiots that would try that with full can. Then you can drill bigger hole and put a valve in it since area around valve is rienforced,also bottom of a can is stronger than the walls.
@vanepico10 жыл бұрын
You know a beer can is a pressure vessel as well right? Just a lower pressure, hence the requirement for a larger volume to make the capacity worthwhile, this guy makes air motors, he knows what he is doing.

Deoderant tanks may be stronger, but not in any way lighter from beer cans, the whole structure that i made weighs less than 75gr (2.6oz)...

@fm000788 жыл бұрын
+robert boykin "Fill with water @ first test, won't be so bad if fail." . . . QUITE RIGHT! The less air volume there is the less mass of expansion will occur. The water will still exert the airs pressure evenly, just not expand. . . . . So instead of BOOM it will go pop. .

***** Some of them are from parts that i salvaged over the years, or if i haven't something that suits my needs, i look on ebay...
@DoNotPushHere8 жыл бұрын
+johnnyq90 Is that tiny engine a "ball poppet" valve like the air hogs or the CO2 engines? I was wondering if this engine used to run on CO2 or regular compressed air. I ask this because I recently got an old sovietic CO2 engine and the piston has a huge depression that makes the compression ratio very very low. I asked to some CO2 modellers and the answer was that the engine ad to use that hollow space to let the Hipressure CO2 expand a bit in order to prevent damage to the connecting rod. Maybe the engine was using CO2 and you find such dead volume on the head of the piston...and fill it with epoxy for low pressure operation...
@johnnyq908 жыл бұрын
+DoNotPushHere It's an actual micro glow plug engine, only with almost no compression, dead in other words and that it exactly why it spins so nicely.
@DoNotPushHere8 жыл бұрын
***** Oh, well, I think I saw it in another video... do you have a second YT channel? Anyway dont you think it would be worth to build a poppet valve and fill some of the dead volume? performance could be glorious... I heard about intentional dead volume on CA motors to run them more "soflty". Even they used to call this "lead" refering to the lead on gasoline engines XD
