The Jofas are the GOATs! The Reebok's and Much of the CCM technology is based on the Jofas lines. Unfortunately some of the new equipment is not as nice as the 20 year Jofa equipment. I did go from a pair of Jofa ahin guards to a new pair of Sherwood Rekker Legend 2 and they have been impressive.

I had 3x shin pads. got tripped, landed on my knee and felt like there was no padding. My knee was so sore for weeks. Picked up the ft6 shinners and they are worlds better. They do however fit short like you showed.

Was it the 3x or the 3x pro? Just curious as I just picked up a pair of the pro’s but I got home and see they look light on padding on the knee cap

This review has me hoping my Easton M5's last forever. I have yet to get a shot to the pads themselves that really stung (I play D League, so that could just be a matter of skill) and aside from ones where I get my legs turned too much to the side, none of the shots to the sides of the legs have really bruised or anything painful beyond some on-ice cursing and grumbling back at the bench. But the nicest part has been that the knee padding seems to be decent enough. As a new skater, I've fallen quite a bit in them, and even with some knees that aren't great as is, I haven't really had any issues at all.

It’s such a shame that the memory foams have come out of almost all protective lines (Tacks seems to be the one holdout at the moment). Protective should protect, but a lot of gear is just trying to get as light as possible imo. Hope we see a shift back to gear prioritizing protecting the players again

CCM's Tacks line up is good for protection. This one is specifically designed to be light and not as protective

It's not really fair to compare the FT6 Pro to your old Tacks, they were designed for different tasks. You should be comparing the AS-V PRO's to your tacks since they are of the same lineage. The AS-V PRO's are insane on protection and were the only pad that allowed my Patella to heal due to injury as a result of other pads lacking.

Comparing different lines is a completely valid comparison, especially when I'm not expecting these to be in the same realm of protection or function as the Tacks are. Which is also why I directly called out my use of the Sherwood shins that prove you don't need to be as big as the Tacks, but still offer good enough protection.
