I'm a noodle arm. I found that the fastest disc I can throw at max weight and have it fly it's numbers is a speed 6. So, all of my discs above speed 6 are very light weight. The fastest discs I can throw reasonably well in light weight discs are a speed 9. I have a Mamba that's really light weight that I can throw decently sometimes, but not consistent. At my current arm speed, the lightweight doesn't help me above a speed 9. As I improve and attain better arm speed, I'll increase the weight of my faster discs. I didn't know about the head wind vs tail wind dealie with distance drivers because I don't throw any, but will keep that in mind. I did however, know about the disc up/disc down depending on wind dealie. Thanks for a great video.

Honestly I just love that you are sticking with 9 speeds for the time being. No need to go up to drivers until you are 100 percent ready because the 9 speed is more controllable and will go just as far💪 thanks for the watch!

I’ve switched to 160 class Emperors and I haven’t looked back!

And you shouldn’t either 💪

Lightweight discs are kinda underrated. Heavier stuff is gonna be more consistent, but lightweight stuff is so fun

I use a 150 class bag in full - including putters! It is easier on this MA50 player and I can recover lost distance. And circle 2 putting is a blast!

MA50 player.? What does that mean.?
@allaboutthegyro2 ай бұрын
@@TG1980 so, in PDGA play there are age protected divisions. MA50 is for individuals 50 years or older.

In guessing the dichotomy here is related to more lift and more rapid deceleration due to less weight. Less weight means more lift since the disc shape and speed determine lift which is counteracted by weight. The lighter the disc gets the more drag forces work to slow it down after it’s thrown. The happy medium for each is probably determined by someone’s max throwing speed. Big arms will lose light weight disc speed too rapidly to benefit from the increased lift. The lift vector also determines your high speed turn and fade since its forward and aft drift pull the disc left and right through gyroscopic precession. The technical understanding is fundamental to determining how these discs may work for you.

I keep lightweight versions of my drivers for uphill shots. I also have a max weight, very overstable driver for downhill tee shots. It's so overstable I wouldn't throw it for any other reason than a steep downhill drive which is where it shines because at max weight gravity wants to keep accelerating it and the overstability keeps it straight for longer.

That’s awesome. I have always just thrown my straighter discs downhill but I LOVE the idea of throwing an over stable lightweight disc!

As I am getting older been trying out some newer molds in lighter weights

counterpoint: max weight performs more consistent in wind which is more important.... plus comparing flight numbers between innova and house of discs as you did is kinda pointless because house of flip stuff is always way more under-stable than they list... You probably should have seen the same results if you compared light weight innova and max weigh sweedshit.....
