This is one of the more sensible GHB videos I've seen. Hypothermia and dehydration are what kill you, not starvation or zombies. So many times in these videos I see a "survival" guy break out the "tactical" pen, 4 cell phone chargers, and a collapsible "tactical" baton, but he has no tarp or warm dry clothing. They need to remember that a $400.00 titanium multi-tool/saw/wrench/machete is very hard to use when you are shivering so badly your entire body is cramping, and your hands are so cold they feel like they are burning. Good job.

Very good. My first thought was foot care. Old tennis trick is two pairs of socks and foot powder. You get blisters in a tournament, you are in trouble.

You probably have one of the best set ups I've seen on KZbin and I completely agree about the map and compass stuff like the concept of these get home bags are you getting home from work you should know how to get home you drive back and fourth everyday even if you have to take a different route you should know where you're going but thank you

Lara bars are EXCELLENT pack rations. I've used them from 100F+ to low teens. High temps they get a little soft/wet. Real cold as you can imagine, they harden up yet still easily edible. Found 2 in my old bag 18 months past expire and were fine. Lara bars along with various nuts, oats, dried fruit, weight gain/protein powder are always in my bag and rotated. Took my thick skull years to realize candy bars, crackers, and processed jerky just turned me into a slug. Thanks again for all you do.

Thanks for the tip I've not seen any of those bars. I'll have to look. I've tried the KIND bars on a recommendation and I feel they sucked pretty bad. Not to mention needing big gulps of water to wash it down. So far the best I've found are the regular old CLIFF bars and the different mylar foil wrapped high calorie emergency rations . That, or a poly tube of peanut butter and a boiled egg

One of the more practical get home bags and get home philosophies I've seen. So many it seems expect they will be getting home begining in central Mexico and traveling under constant artillery and small arms fire. I just don't get those folks.

You actually did what others talk about. I am impressed. And I agree; socks and something to alleviate chaffing. Walk at speed, but crossing, climbing, descending, use caution and slow down. That's when I get hurt.

I like your comments about slowing down to control panic in these situations. An old Aussi bush trick, when you realise your 4wd is bogged solid, and you are here for a while, or you realise you are lost - stop, get the billy out and make a cuppa tea! sit down and drink it slow. Settle down, and then start working on your plan B.

As always an excellent video. One thing from the video you made while walking, I never thought about having my fire starting and misc. stuff in my pockets in case I had to drop the pack and move out for whatever reason. WOW, a wake up moment. That has echoed in my mind since you said it. Thanks for another great video and an absolutely maybe game changing wake up. God bless and keep em coming!!

Having to rapidly evacuate your place of rest is why I would not waste calories putting up a "bushcraft " camp. Wrap up in the poncho and liner and lay down in a concealed spot. If you have to run and leave a shelter behind, that's just saying yes- someone was definitely here.

Pretty decent collection of goods without the expensive camping gadgetry that many list in their videos. I'd eliminate any camping gear since in a time of unrest and uncertainty you're not going to want to be cooking and taking time to build fires and shelters and and such. You want potable water ready to drink and food that can be eaten while you're walking. You should either be moving toward your safe area or laying down wrapped up and resting to get moving again Thanks for the video

In the thousands of miles I have walked in my life I haven't ever needed, used or owned anti chafing powder or anything of the sort. I realize many people do, and I usually tell people to at least consider it, but for me I likely won't ever have it in a kit.

No Smaug and multi tool dam this guy is ticking all the boxes in my controversial checklist, I was thinking the same things, Multi tools are great but how often do you actually use them, a lot of items I would look for situations to use the tool rather than using the tools to help my direct situations I see people do this all the time.

also hearing people say I've got this multi tool encase I come across a vehicle on the way, as if they're some how going to hot wire or repair it with a multi tool is fucking laughable

How were the feet afterwards? Great looking loadout. Love the Pack, perfect looking lightweight option. Yeah FEET! All too often people just overlook foot-care, probably because they never actually get out there and walk. Looking at your previous video, looks like you have similar terrain as me (miles n miles of flat farmland with no trees). Yeah, I've never liked or wear shemagh's. Real good system.

Since that is a 72-hour kit have you considered trying to spend 72 hours living off of it?
@ModernRefugee3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the season, that kit would be for early spring through fall. For a winter kit that would be a little light for 72 hours. I do plan on going out with this gear this up coming winter. Spending a night out in the winter is the real test of man and gear. I would not call that kit 72 hours. I’d say more like 48. My most likely get home walk for me would be 40 miles or less. That kit realistically for me would be a 15-20 mile walk each day with one night spent outdoors. Speed for me would be of the most importance hence the light kit.

Testing is super important; took my 30-40 pound "hybrid bag" and found it was too heavy to be of any suitable use for the distance I was covering (>8miles) Good video m8

Hi. Why do you wrap things with Gorilla tape?
@ModernRefugee2 жыл бұрын
So you have some tape with you for repairs, fire starting or first aid. A few wraps of tape on a bottle or lighter saves the weight of carrying a whole roll.
@stalwart2632 жыл бұрын
@@ModernRefugee It’s a great idea to have some wrapped around your lighters. That will make fire lighting very easy. I have always used ranger bands but gorilla tape has so many more uses.
