I've got both actually and have been with them for several years now; they don't make a difference when I go between REVO4 SX, 5SX, back to 4SX RKT. That's swapping from say a top water mono to coming up on stumps on 360° going to braid with a big difference in lure weight. I'm currently using REVO4 X, S, SX, SX RKT, REVO5 X, SX, STX, REVO IKE's and a 3 of the ZENON MG-X's Personally, I think they're all phenomenal reels, good quality, great line capacity, etc etc. The braking system and drag on all of them is what sold me. Can you tell a difference between the ZENON and the X or SX? Absolutely you can, but it is nowhere close to what people think it is. So for the money, imo they are where it's at. Sure everyone has their preferences as you do. But if you're like me, you've spent your life on the deck of a bass boat you've used and abused multiple brands, models. I completely brake every one of them down and clean, do routine maintenance on them and I'd put them up against any other brand, especially in same price point market. Anyway, wasn't intended to be jackass tone if came across that way

So excited for these. I have the 3rd and 4th gen SX’s and they’re phenomenal. So glad they introduced the IVCB brakes on the SX. Best braking system I’ve ever used.

I have the revo5 sx but the brakes are shit as I cast it, it birdsnests itself when my lure is still in the air

​@sammyt8165 b/c you're not adjusting the spool tension correctly, and the IVCB 6 external brakes correctly. You have to adjust the spool tension so the lure drops moderately slow to slow, especially if your casting motion is fast. The bearings on these reels are very fast spinning and will over spool if not adjusted correctly.

Great reel but I can’t cast far. Used a 3/8 jig head and the mag break was all the way down. Even turned down the tension.

With the gen4 the centrifugal brakes are way over powered, turn all off but one and set spool tension so the lure drops slowly . I had the same issue and took ages to work out why lol . One centrifugal brake, a few up on the mag brake and a tighter spool tension she will cast a mile you just need to thumb it more

Still no gull wing for the side plate. Thing falls off all the time on the older model because the open/close gets kicked open with your hand. The MGX has a gull wing but that was a $360 dollar reel.

I can’t stand 90mm handles. Why is Lews the only company that consistently puts 95mm handles on all of their reels.? 95mm gives the perfect combination of power and speed. Perfect example; just bought a shimano metanium mgl and it comes with a tiny 80 something millimeter handle which is extremely uncomfortable and requires much more energy than with a bigger handle. I love my Daiwa and Shimano reels but hate replacing the handles on new reels.

Bummer they don’t use the foam grips anymore. Work a lot better in the rain than the slick rubber..

Abu shit blows. They tend to over extend their rod power. A medium to them is a extra heavy to other rod makers. Their reels really lack the sophistication of Japanese made reels
