This Ligier Myli is build in France, by the company that raced in formula 1 in the 70´s and 80´s, and won several Grand Prix with Jacques Laffite and Patrick Depailler.

In Italy you can drive this if you are 14 years or older (it is classed as a microcar)..glad it is finally silent now it is EV, the older versions were sooo annoyingly noisy.

Even at (almost) 30, I enjoy driving my Ligier JS50 and have no urge to try and get a normal license, it's slower obviously so I get a lot more reaction time while driving. I didn't like highways during my manual/automatic driving lessons and I'm much happier just driving slower on Dutch roads.

The Silence S04 moped car has already started deliveries in Spain, you should check it out when it gets to Norway, it reaches 85km/h with two removable batteries (11 kWh) starting from 10 200 euros with 30€/month battery swap service.

Too bad it's more expensive than a real EV; while having less range, less power and no safety equipment (crumple zone, airbags, etc., they simply don't exist as it's classed as a sort of moped / quad and not an actual vehicle). At a price point of 16k€+ for ABS and A/C it's a waste of money, as it does not even qualify for EV subsidies due to its classification.

The diesel variant is commonly seen in France - its a ‘sans permis’ so if you lose your license for drunk driving or something you go and buy one of these to drive to the bar!

In Germany, too. There are versions going 6, 25, or 45 kph. For anything above 6 kph you need a kind of permit. The 45 kph variant requires an actual drivers licence (theoretical test only). Can be driven from age 16 on.

I am not sure if they are the same company but there is another company called Ligier Automotive, in France. I used to work with them. They manufacture very high end race vehicles (eg. Le Mans LMP1/2, F3/F4). Would be complete opposite sides of the spectrum. Good looking ride and excellent for European city and country travel. Wouldn't work, here in the US (I am in Miami). Any teen who gets this as their first ride (prior to being of age for a real car) is living large.

Yes, it's the same Ligier. They built things like sports cars, F1 cars for their own team and also the Citroën SMcars before they specialised in ultra light cars and utility vehicles and autonomous micro busses.

I think most countries classify these as quadracycles. Not legal in most of the US, but I’d go for one of these in retirement villages over the golf carts they seem to require for their residents.

Some states have NEV and/or LSV laws, product would be legal in those states. There was a lot of talk about NEV in the late 90s due to the lack of full size EVs.. NEV = Neighborhood Eletric Vehicle LSV = Low Speed Vehicle

I would love to see a thousand-kilometer test with this one. LOL. Looks like a cool car. In the Netherlands, these can be driven from 16 y.o. with a moped license. They are often used by older people that do not need a full car anymore or by students. Perfect for city traffic and groceries. They are a bit pricey though. Dutch prices start at just under 14K euro

14k euros, why would 14 year old drive these? Max speed 45, its a moped but cost way too much... Up to around 190 range for high spec, why u need that if u cant go on to the motorway. Im not sure why People buy these.. Not to get wet when it rains? Lol they would be perfect for the city, but id rather get a moped for way cheaper...

I would guess that the 1kW heater is not sufficient in Norway. I have an electric K-car , and 2kW is not sufficient in winter (PTC element limits itself to 2kW at low SoC.) You also need power to initially heat the cabin.

You don't need a driver license to drive these. 45km/h is plenty for somebody without a license (usually, they lost it because of bad driving).

Survival rates of pedestrian plummet around those speed. 50km/h it's only 40% of survival. 30km/h is at 85%. 40km/h is at 70% The curb is exponential, 5km/h DOES matter a lot. If anything, the speed limit should be lowered. the drivers of these vehicles, are REALLY dangerous.

That is by far the best looking small car and not embarrassing like an Opel Rocks or Citroen Ami where they did not even produce different parts for left and right, and front and back. It costs about 13000 Euro in Germany which is more expensive, but not to compare with a Rocks.

In Portugal, we call these things "papa-reformas" which means "retirement pension eaters". I think you can guess why. Seniors can have a very hard time getting or renovating their driver's licenses so they can have an easier path by getting an easier license with vehicle limitations.

This is far more like the EVs of the future should be. At present we are just replacing enormous energy sucking ICE cars with enormous energy sucking EVs. These are perfect for 90% of city drivers and use a fraction of the resources. Bring them on!

If an F-150 doesnt acknowledge you there is a risk of becoming a bug on the windshield. Considering the frame is very weak. They weigh maximum 425 kg, like 1000 lbs.

Like most French small vehicle builders Ligier started to address the Sans Permis market. Like every Moped in Europe these were license free in France. This category got included in EU not that long ago. Category LS06e, is what you are looking for, though the Citroen Ami/Opel Rocks-e is heavier and more powerful, not sure how they got away with that. Normally that would have been LS07e, requiring an B(1) license not an AM. First Ligier actually marketed ca. 1980, with the classic 50cc limit on 2 stroke Mopeds: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqTEqZ2lZq5psNU When did they increase the weight limit by 75 Kg, or a smidge over 21%?

When we lived in Kansas, it was 14 for a permit (learning with a licensed driver/instructor that is at least 21), 15 for a restricted license (can drive directly between home, school and work alone, or anywhere with a licensed driver that is at least 21) and 16 for a full license. Here in Maryland the permit age is 15 years 9 months.

Great car, if the price would fit the useable performance. They are to expensive. But Ligiers are expensive, even with fossile drive train. They probably do not have high enough production numbers to achieve economy of scale. Maybe the electrification can help with that.
