the consumption and the look of the belt-drive-train is very similar to my Citroen Ami. Higher charging speed is more important than bigger battery in this class, like you said.
@thorbjrnhellehaven5766

But charging speed is linked to battery size. If you double the battery size, you can double the charging power. The time for a full charge might be the same, but how much time you need to gain a certain range is less.

@@thorbjrnhellehaven5766 charging speed is only linked to battery size once you are maxxing out the cells charging speed. here for instance 12kWh / 2kW (6h charge) it could peak 10x faster no problem even a passively cooled Leaf can charge 80% in 30 min. these smale cars are never gonna have 400V dc fast charging..
@thorbjrnhellehaven5766
@thorbjrnhellehaven5766 Жыл бұрын
@@geemy9675 yes, I guess your right, with a 12 kWh battery, it should for sure be possible to have faster charging than 2kW. At least 1C shouldn't be any problem, probably 3C. I guess the major point could be the cost of larger chargers, as well as added weight. I haven't been able to figure out battery voltage for Ligier Myli, but I don't expect it to have anything close to a 400V architecture, to remotely allow using 400V DC-charging (as you point out never gonna have 400V DC fast). (As a reference I believe the Cirtoën Ami has a 48V battery pack. I'm not surprised if Ligier has a battery pack of similar voltage, and probably the same voltage for 4kWh, 8kWh and 12kWh configuration, just putting 2 or 3 modules in parallel if you want more capacity, to keep most of the design the same. As s minimum, I think an option for triple-charger would be interesting. 3-phase: 400V AC @8.7 A = 6 kW (3 chargers in star configuration) 1-phase: 230V AC @26A = 6 kW (3 chargers in parallel configuration) Or maybe just double-charger as an option too.

Oh, this was you. Down Gjelleråsen I passed you when you let people past. We're not used to the 45kph cars here in Oslo. Much more common going out to the small towns. (Btw, the asphalt at Alnabru is "supposedly" getting worked on soon. They just redid the asphalt going down Grorudveien down from the Kalbakken T-junction and down to the 4-way with Tesla, as that was horrible as well with loads of potholes. One day we'll get to go to Alnabru without feeling that you're destroying the car.)
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I try to let people pass me especially on places where it's illegal or hard to overtake. However, as I said in the video, many Norwegians are very passive and they don't overtake even if there's many good places to overtake. Ligier is so small that it's easy to look past it to see if it's clear or not. Way harder to look past a big tractor which typically also drives the same speed.

This would work well I think in cities and suburbs like we have here in Australia, but would need to increase the speed to 60 kmh, which is what the majority of the roads are limited to. 45 kmh is just too slow and will slow down the trucks and buses.

In the UK this will be called a quadricycle like the Citroën Ami.
@thorbjrnhellehaven5766
@thorbjrnhellehaven5766 Жыл бұрын
Quadricycle is the European classification L6e and L7e vehicles, respectively light and heavy. While the subclass L6e-BP are light quadri-mobile for passenger transport (like Ami and Ligier) And subclass L7e-CP are heavy quadri-mobile for passenger transport (Like Renault Twizy) In Norway all classes with 45 km/h max speed are called 2-3-4 wheeled mopeds. L6e-B are "light moped car" and L7e-C are "heavy moped car" (even if the later is not restricted to 45 km/h, but otherwise closely resemble) Some people argue that L6e-B and L7e-C are "not cars" because they are "quadricycle". Yes they are in that class, more specifically quadri-mobile. But what is a car? M1 class are: "passenger vehicles with a maximum of eight seats in addition to the driver's seat", several vehicles within M1 would probably not be described as "car". Car (according to Oxford Dictionary): a road vehicle with an engine and four wheels that can carry a small number of passengers I will argue that L6e-BP and L7e-CP vehicles fit perfectly well within the dictionary definition of a "car". Because "car" isn't actually a term with a legal definition, while quadricycle and quadri-mobile are. They are not necessarily mutual exclusive.

Torally agree with the comment about battery size, and charging. I think smaller versions with 60 km and 100 km range could be interesting, as I expect the battery to be a significant contribution to the cost. I think the Ligier seems interesting, but I woudn't mind to save some on smaller battery. Chargning I think would be nice to have option for 3x10 and possible to run in parallel for single phaser 30 A, or 3-phase 10 A. then you could benefit some from 16A 3-phase and 32A compared to 10-16 A single phase.

well I live in Greåker and between two cities so this car would be ideal for me, yeah 45 is a bit slow but good thing there is parts that can make it go 60, just switch out the variator and poof 60 km/h in the diesel engines. for the electrics there must be a tweak to make it go faster. Anyway living between Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad these cars would be perfect. And I hear you can also get trucks...

You need about 2-4 kW to maintain 45 km/h in flat terrain. So the motor is not on full power because of the speed limit. The few times on hills and acceleration would not change too much range.

Comparing it to the silence makes more sense. I think the 73 Wh/km is okay compared to the 38 Wh/km for the SilenceS01 you tested. Weight still has impact. Silence is 215 kg with you on board and this thing is probably 475 kg.

I drive with various pedelecs, including a speed pedelec 45 km/h. I note my consumptions, so here is my list (without charging losses): pedelec 25 km/h: 3-5 Wh/km pedelec 25 km/h with kids trailer: 8-10 Wh/km s-pedelec 45 km/h: 20 Wh/km sitting upright and 15-17 Wh/km deep low. So the 70 Wh/km for the 45er car seems ok. I don't think you can charge it with 1C with a smaller battery, because the battery is not cooled at all. And a bigger charger is really expensive, you also need a charging station. For going to work and back, even in winter, the battery size is quite good. You can go one hour per direction, so about 40km and have enough reserve for extra tour to the family or shoping after work.

Another thing about the lower power at the end. Normally, they use 48V batteries. They go down to 35V when empty, but at 15% they are still above 45V. The motor controller normally is limited in Ampere, so maybe 125A. At 48V this is 6kW, but at 40V only 5kW and at 35V only 4,3 kW. You need about 3-4 kW to maintain 45 km/h, so every hill will slow you down when the battery is nearly empty.

Hello Bjørn, There are several good deals on 2WD vehicles currently. The big question is how well they perform in winter or off-road conditions. In addition to most of them being rear-wheel drive, some cars have software that allows you to engage both wheels when you're stuck. Can you start testing this? It's very interesting for those who can manage with 2WD.

This means extreme efficient. For the Ligier. Even when I estimate 1.6 m² front area with cw=0.38, this has at this low speed no big influence. This means inefficient.

The fact that it's Android Auto compatible is great because other than the basic car functions I'm sure the infotainment isn't much to speak of. In my country people are also scared to overtake the 45km/h cars in 50km/h zones because the law in my country forbids people to exceed the speed limit even when overtaking, so they would be forced to drive only 5km/h faster then the 45km/h car so the overtaking would take a long time and its risky. And the police in unmarked cars also drives 45km/h to set up traps for people who overtake them to fast (to fill their quotas for monthly income from speeding tickets) so that makes everyone paranoid and scared so people prefer to just drive slow but that is just in my country, idk how it is in others

Here in Italy nobody cares about speed limit so we just overtake without thinking 😂, naturally if you get caught you're in trouble

@@jacopodeangelis3033 I remember my first visit to Italy. I was driving on a badly maintained road with 50 kmh limit. At first i was confused why the locals had been been overtaking me with 80 but later I understood you're good as long as you're not caught. 😅

In stupid Denmark you need a special drivers license and must be 17 years before you can drive a 45' vehicle

23:58 _"...this time I calculate 10% charging loss..."_ According to my experience of charging with 2.3kW for a number of 250 chargings so far I got an average of 20% charging losses. When charging the same car faster the charging losses are 10% or even less. Therefore tmo the consumption of the Ligier can be estimated to be 13.7kWh*0.8=11kWh which for 169km equals 65Wh/km. 24:41 _"...when you hypermile a M3 you can go as low as around 60, 65Wh/km..."_ Wait a minute...you probably didn't charge up the M3 with 2.1kW but much much faster which lowers the charging losses dramatically. There is a big error involved not considering the charging losses correctly. I doubt that the M3 or Teslas have drastically better driving efficiency. If one wants to find out what's really going on much much more effort has to be done in gathering oll the parameters being involved here.

You mixed up all the numbers. Consumption for Tesla or Kona is of course what the car reports which is not with charging loss. The charging loss you talk about in Model 3 is totally irrelevant.

@@bjornnyland Ok, thank you for clearifying that the Tesla and Kona numbers are car reported numbers without charging losses. I must have somehow missed that. But nevertheless the charging losses while charging with 2.1kW are more like 20% then 10%.

I already made a video about this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n33QenybbrOSl6s&ab_channel=Bj%C3%B8rnNyland In that test, Model 3 had 15.7 % charging loss at 2.3 kW. But as mentioned in the video, Tesla seems to have a lot of "idling" power consumption for pumps, MCU, communcation, DC-DC converter, etc. Those things are most likely not present in Ligier since it's way less sophisticated.

In the UK we would call it a quadracycle…or a Wheelie Bin. We’d take the trash out in one. I’d not put an inexperienced 16yr old in one.
