Many - broad way Few- the narrow way Hell will be full😮 Wake up repent and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour
@gdiaseht22 күн бұрын
According to Sproul, you can't wake yourself up. God has to do it because you are so dead (not just in your sins, but also in your head) that you cannot choose God's Son to save you. God capriciously selects some and you can't do anything about it. You will go to hell if He hasn't elected you, whether you live in repentance and believe the Bible. According to Sproul, there are no conditions.

@ It is true we cannot wake ourselves up. The Spirit of God is He who quickens However this is not for us to go around and say “ I am not quickened so I am not saved”. Why then are you an evangelist? The Bible tells us “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” Titus 2:11-12 The Bible also tells us why we need good preachers who rightly divide the Word, evangelists and teachings who rightly divide the Word; BECAUSE FAITH COMES BY HEARING AND HEARING THE WORD OF GOD.

Yes, the Bible teaches that most people will end up in hell. This is a sobering thing to think about, but the Bible says it.

It's really sad to think about it that people you know that seem "decent" will be there. I will pray for all souls that they may receive Christ.

@@stephengorman1025 OK, a few points: (1) Gehenna, Tartarus and the Lake of Fire are essentially synonyms. They are not very different concepts. (2) Hades and Sheol are used a bit differently from the previous 3 terms. Sometimes they refer generally to the place of the dead. But Hades (and Sheol, I think) can be used specifically to refer to the pre-judgment, temporary place of the unrighteous dead (e.g., Luke 16:23). (3) You clearly imply that kolasis is not used in connection with punishment by God. That is actually incorrect. Matt 25:46 refers to eternal kolasis, when speaking about the judgment enacted by Christ. And 1 John 4:18 refers to kolasis in a context of fear of God's judgment. (4) Unending conscious torment of human beings is found in Matt 25:46 (eternal kolasis). It is also found in Revelation: in Rev 20:10 we are told that the devil, beast and false prophet will be tormented forever in the lake of fire, and in v. 15 we are told that anyone not written in the book of life will be thrown there, certainly to experience the same fate. (5) The early church fathers took different views on many issues, including hell. I'm not sure if you are supporting universalism or the annihilation of the unsaved. If you are supporting the former, here is a quote from 2 Clement that contradicts your view: 'For if we do the will of Christ, we shall find rest. But if not, nothing shall deliver us from eternal punishment if we shall disobey his commands.' (2 Clem 6:7) (under different ways of dividing chapters and verses, this is sometimes given as 2 Clem 5:5 or 2 Clem 3:8). (6) Christ takes away the sin of the world, but that doesn't have to mean that everyone takes advantage of this. The taking away of the sin could easily be a potential taking away.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” Matthew 7 This scripture is for “ believers” who are not saved Wake up repent and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour

There's not such a thing in the New Testament as an unsaved believer, notwithstanding the demons who tremble. We are not saved by our performance, but by the imputation of the work of Christ to us. @ this is one who thinks he is saved , but isn’t, This scripture is speaking to that person. See below 1 Corinthians 12:1-3 “Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: Here, Paul lays down a broad principle for discerning matters regarding spiritual gifts - judge things by how they relate to Jesus Christ. Does a supposed spiritual gift glorify Jesus? Does it promote the true Jesus or a false one? i. Jesus made it plain, saying that when the Holy Spirit would come, He will testify of Me (John 15:26), and He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you (John 16:14). The ministry of the Holy Spirit is not to promote Himself or any man, but to glorify and represent Jesus. THE TRUE BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST WILL TESTIFY TO THE TRUTH OF THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST.

Ro 8:7-8 says that the unbelieving mind “does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Is this not a “total inability” to believe the gospel? Absolutely not! The context clearly shows that the inability here is related to THE LAW, not to the gospel. As long as a person is controlled by the flesh, he is unable to obey any command of the law as God wants it done and as the law requires. In the unbelieving state he cannot please God with respect to the law. But this text says nothing about a sinner being unable to respond to the gospel, or through the power of the gospel being unable to redirect the set of his mind from flesh to Spirit.

Verse taken totally out of context.
@d22theking6023 күн бұрын
So what does it mean? Literally everyone says this is what the verse means(because it’s self explanatory)
@1974jrod23 күн бұрын
@d22theking60 it's not self explanatory. Read the verses around it, start with chapter 6. If it seems self explanatory, it's because YOU, nor Sproul understood it in context of what Jesus did say explicitly about salvation.

@@1974jrodapparently I am missing “the context” that you are referring to. I would appreciate your thoughts. It seems to me that the verses in question can stand on their own especially considering the larger context of scripture. The majority of people in Jesus day did not receive him. They didn’t just ignore him but they killed him. Again I would appreciate a different perspective. We can certainly get locked in on an interpretation if that’s the way we have interpreted it in the past.
