I am an ethnically Jewish Presbyterian and this is the best exposition I've ever heard. I don't agree with dispensationalists on the one hand who think the state of Israel is some magical kingdom of awesomeness and they think every news headline is the fulfillment of the Bible, but I also don't agree with those who say the Jews are irrelevant to God's future plans.

The New Testament speaks of two ages, "this age," and "the age to come." The understanding of these two ages and when they changed is fundamental to interpreting the Bible. The New Testament writers lived in the age that they called "this age." To the New Testament writers, "the age to come" was future, but it was very near because "this age" was about to end. 1 Corinthians 2:6-8 (NKJV) "However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory". The wisdom and rulers of "this age" were coming to nothing because the age was passing away. He is speaking of the Jewish leaders and the Old Covenant system. The rulers of "this age" crucified the Lord. These rulers would shortly have no realm in which to rule because "this age" was about to end.

The Jews of today did not kill Jesus or the prophets, but we cannot deny scripture, just because the Jews are offended and call it anti-semetic. God dealt with the Jews when he sent the Roman armies to destroy Jerusalem (Mystery Babylon) and the temple in 66-70 AD.

Judaism, though much in vogue with Evangelicals and Roman Catholics, is totally alien to the only Biblical religion on earth today, Christianity. The rabbis teach that the revelation granted to Moses had been delivered in two forms, a smaller revelation in writing, and the larger one kept oral. The Talmud indeed blasphemes Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. Tractate Sanhedrin 106a says that Jesus’ mother was a harlot: “She who was a descendant of princes and governors played the harlot with carpenters.” Also in Tractate Shabbath 104b of the Talmud, it is stated: “Miriam the hairdresser had sex with many men.” As regard the Talmud’s treatment of Jesus Christ, Tractates Sanhedrin 107b and Sotah 47a say: “Jesus was sexually immoral, worshipped statues of stone and brick, was cut off from the Jewish people for his wickedness, and refused to repent.” And even a more vile blasphemy is written in Tractate Gitten 57: “Jesus is in hell, being boiled in hot excrement.” The Talmud teaches that a Jew may *kill, **steal, and ***lie to non-Jews with impunity -yet all of these actions are in violation of the 6th, 7th, and 9th commandments of Moses. Here is but one example of the Oral Law making the Word of God “of none effect.” [*Tractates Sanhedrin 58b; **Baba Mezia 24a; **Sanhedrin 57a; ***Baba Kama 113a]. The Talmud teaches that the Gentile is a lower form of humanity. They all believe that they have this special-ness about them, believing the myth that they, not the Christians, are the “chosen people.” The main tenet of Judaism is Jewish self-worship. Judaism has as its “god,” not the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but the worship of the Jewish people. Jewish self-worship is at the core of the Talmud. The secularist amongst them shares in this self-worship. Coupled with the false notion that they are the “chosen people” - regardless of their unethical conduct, their gross distortions of the God of the Bible, their unbelief, their hatred of Biblical Christian culture, (which has afforded them asylum in Christian nations), and their persistent rejection of Jesus the Messiah - the Talmud teaches that those within Judaism are of a higher form of humanity than others. For they pray both in the synagogue and in their homes, “I thank Thee O God that Thou has not made me a Gentile.” In the Gospel of Mark Chapter 7, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees saying, “You make the Word of God of none effect by your tradition that you have handed down.” There is little in the Talmud which refers to Old Testament Scriptures - but rather, teachings that are contrary to the Scriptures. Christians must understand that the religion of Judaism is Anti-Biblical and AntiChrist. The true religion of the God of Israel is Christianity not Judaism. Judaism is simply a perversion of God’s original revelation to the Hebrew nation-it is the very religion of nullification of the Old Testament. Now what fellowship has light with darkness? What fellowship has Christ with Belial? What fellowship has the true worship of God with idols and “Judaism’s strange gods?” None!

Anne Wood I know you wrote most of these comments six months ago. I agree with all of them and I’m interested to learn more. Do you teach anywhere? Are you possibly close to the Dallas area? I’ve read several books that teach that the current “Jews” are not Semitic. Ashkenazi are descendants of Japheth and therefore Caucasian. Sephardic are descendants of Ham from Morraco. It’s interesting when I did my DNA all of my ancestors before Jesus were Semitic Jews. Then obviously an ancestor was a part of Jewish proselytizers that went to Morocco. So it says I’m Sephardic but in parentheses it says Moroccan. Then apparently they married into the Ashkenazi. Again the DNA people don’t call them Jews. So my own DNA proves the story of the fake Jews.

Things like the Book of Revelation, the great tribulation and Christs parousia (second coming) all happened in 70 AD. Many commentators today equate "the times of the Gentiles" with "the fullness of the Gentiles" mentioned by the Apostle Paul in Romans 11:25. In fact, most all reference Bibles make this connection in the margins. But mixing these verses together is strange indeed, since "the times of the Gentiles" refers to the treading down of Jerusalem by Gentile armies, while "the fullness of the Gentiles" refers to bringing the Gentiles into a full equality with Israel. The emphasis is on status, on full, equal standing in the spiritual blessings. This is the mystery in Romans 11 . The truth is, there is no connection whatsoever between the times of the Gentiles and the fullness of the Gentiles, as they are speaking of two completely different things. The times of the Gentiles has to be kept in it's proper historical context. Jesus said that "all", including the times of the Gentiles, would be fulfilled before his contemporary generation had passed. Dispensationalists go outside the box of "this generation" in order to teach a futuristic view of Christ's coming. To do that they have to redefine both "the times of the Gentiles" and "this generation". Needless to say, their "1948 generation" has proven to be more than just a little embarrassing.

Thank you for your comment, i have never heard anyone explain the term fullness of the gentiles in that way, but makes so much sense! Futurists all day it means until every last gentile is saved, your explanation fits so much better with all other scriptures that describe the mystery of God, thank you!

The mystery very simply is that Jew and Gentile are brought together now in one body called the Church. Galatians 3:28;Ephesians 2:11-22. “There is neither Jew nor Gentile” “you are all one in Christ Jesus.” This is the fullness of the gentiles, the full equality with Israel the Jewish remnant, Romans 9-11. In verse 32 of chapter 21 it says that generation would not pass away until those things were fulfilled. So, the times of the gentiles are included in the scriptures leading up to 32.

This teaching is the correct interpretation by R.C Sproul.The "End of the Age" is to be understood as the end of the "Gentile Age". .Revelation 11-2 "The Gentiles will trample the Holy City underfoot for 42 months which is the fulfillment of Jesus and the prophets prophecy that is still to take place before he returns to reign with an Everlasting Kingdom on earth in Jerusalem.Then ,the Gentile nations rule and reign shall be finished forever for they will have to come to him and acknowledge him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords in his millennial reign.

God in the Revelation to Jesus clearly defines the exact time of the "Gentile trampling" of Jerusalem as 3 and 1\2 years. (Rev.11) How can R.C. miss this. It's right there in the revelation. This was the exact time that Eleazar and the zealots, many of them Idumeans, i.e. Gentiles held the Temple mount before the Romans showed up. Josephus himself records Titus standing at the walls of Jerusalem and quoting the prophets that men of "lawlessness" would destroy Jerusalem by their own hand.

I don't think he did. The Roman siege of Jerusalem & temple lasted precisely 42 months / 3.5 years. Fulfilling that verse precisely - also showing the Futurist Premillenal 'Last Days' schemes to be totally illogical AND scriptural as they ignore obvious Historic fulfillment. The times of the gentiles began with Judah's exile and the destruction of Jerusalem then (586BC). God certainly judged Israel in 70AD. But, as the prophets speak of in the OT, there was a divorce between God and His people, but He takes them back. Mr. Sproul does not incorporate enough of the OT into his discussion, imo. The post-mills, also, make a big deal of the Kingdom of Heaven being something we are in now and always building up. It is not something solely for the future that we yearn for. One more funny thing about this, non-premills are critical of premills for all their "comings" of Jesus. Yet they do the same thing.

I believe Colossians 1:23 is talking about the same thing as v. 5-6 in that same chapter. “because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. You have already heard about this hope in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. It is bearing fruit and growing all over the world, just as it has among you since the day you heard it and came to truly appreciate God’s grace.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭ When you read Romans 10 ; “But I ask, “Did they not hear?” Yes, they did: Their voice has gone out to the whole earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:18‬ ‭ Paul quotes Psalms 19 and it’s referring to Gods creation. I am a descendant of Aaron, R.C. Sproul was very good in his exegesis however he would do better if he would consider the writings of the Prophets regarding the last days of this system. Ezekiel 38 reveals that in the latter part of the years Magog, Tubal and Meshech would come upon Sheba and Dedan who were dwelling together without disturbance alongside Israelites brought back from the sword and Sheba and Dedan who are Arab descendants of Abraham and Keturah whom Abraham married after Sarah had died see Genesis 25:1-3. Correspond that with Ezekiel 38:13 and you will see the same people ie Sheba and Dedan. If you should think as those who don't know scripture fully that it was by divine right Israelites came upon Sheba, Dedan and Jews brought back from the sword see Ezekiel 38:10-12 that Yahveh God prophesied it was an injurious scheme to steal much wealth and property that they came upon the land. Also consider who came upon those who were dwelling together in security without disturbance. It was Gog who was head chieftain over Magog, Meshech and Tubal 1 Chronicles 1:5, and Togermath vs.6, all descendants of Japheth not Israel. Also Daniel foretells the ships of Kittim come up against the king of the South being Germany, same family 1 Chronicles 1:7. Also Isaiah 23:1-18; 24:1-6 identifies the enemy to be of Tyre identifying them as people of Tarshish same as 1 Chronicles 1:7 see Tarshish. Moses identifies Gog the head chieftain over these Ashkenazi's to be an Israelite descendant of the tribe of Reuben 1 Chronicles 5:1, 4.

Sproul did not comment on the second part of Luke 21:22 "For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. " It seems to me that Jesus just said he was going to fulfill ALL Bible prophesy. I don't see how "all" can be interpreted as "some".

In classical Greek the word "all " is used mostly in relation to the context of what is being addressed. i.e. Everyone in the Roman world was taxed. Those who pierced Christ in the first century would see Him coming in the "glory of the Father" in judgment of Old Covenant Israel. Jesus said, "my words are spiritual and they are life." There is no indication of what Sproul assumes, that "there would be a period of time AFTER 70AD, where Jerusalem would be ruled by gentiles"... And he clearly missed the reference of the end of that length of 42 mos, in the connecting verses above. Also, the "temple will be PROPERLY restored at the end of that period" (Dan 8:14) cannot refer to another physical temple because God Himself said "Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. What kind of house will you build for Me? Or where will My place of repose be?" (Isa 66:1). God destroyed the last physical temple to end the Jewish/Mosaic/Old Covenant age of law and to "bring in everlasting righteousness" in the New Covenant age, and "establish the kingdom that shall never end" (Dan 2, 12). The only way this was possible is by ending the ritual sacrifices and temple worship to signify that the kingdom of God is not made by hands, it is within us as believers and we attain righteousness through faith, not dead works.😉

The KJV is correct. You have to continue through the end of the passage. Matthew 13:38-43 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. The angels gather the tares and throw them into the fire at the great white throne judgement, and the rest of us enter the eternal kingdom in the new Earth. The personal beliefs of Dr. Sproul precede, and supercede his reading and understanding of the text. No angels gathered up Jews and cast them into the fire. His ideology forces him to have to reinterpret this to be metaphoric, or else his interpretation doesn't hold water. 4:15 Regarding the differences between the KJV and the NKJV, the NKJV was not taken from the Textus Receptus, so this could explain the difference between end of world and end of age. The PRE-TRIB RAPTURE CHALLENGE: Read 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18 in context. Do not add or take away ONE word from the text. Ask yourself WHO it was written to, what their beliefs were at THAT time (they believed jesus was coming back in wrath during their lifetime), what question Paul was answering of theirs and then ask yourself this question, “How can I be both ‘alive and remain’ UNTO the coming (physical return of Christ; parousia) and already be raptured and gone?” It is impossible. One huge logical fallacy of many. In actuality, Paul is putting the catching away UNTO or AT the physical return of Christ in His wrath, the exact opposite of what pre-trib teachers teach. They ignore the word UNTO in the passage and can’t see that it is all ONE event (the catching away along with the physical return of Christ). The event is the NOUN parousia (coming) and the VERB harpazo (catching away) happens at the same time- paul is speaking of the resurrection here which is ONE event. He is answering their question, “Will we see our loved ones again that have died in Christ”? That simple. This is not a pre-trib rapture verse by any means. It is when Christ returns the second time, the Day of the Lord, which is judgment and we are taken right then and are not part of that judgment.

You MUST know the names of all the groups and accurately apply them, to have understanding. Judahites, are the tribe of Judah, which is Jesus's earthly ancestry. Most of the Jews were Edomites. Judeans, Israelites, Benjamites, Hebrews, and the lost sheep of the house of Israel, who are the Gentiles, to whom Jesus sent the disciples, mostly in Europe (Israelites with amnesia). Which Greek text is he referencing? The KJV was translated from the majority text. All other English translations from the early 1800's on are translted from a different Greek text compiled from 2 manuscripts that do not agree with each other or with the majority of the manuscripts. So to say the KJV doesn't translate it correctly you are not using the same Greek text it was translated from....

Uh, respectfully, no. "For the division of history into "this age" and "the age to come," see Matthew 12:32, 1 Corinthians 1:20, 2:6, 8, 3:18, Ephesians 1:21. "This age" refers to ordinary history as we know it - an age of sin and death. "The age to come" will be radically different and will break in with the resurrection at the second coming, as Jesus says in Luke 20:34-35: "The sons of THIS AGE marry and are given in marriage, but those who are considered worthy to attain to THAT AGE and to THE RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD neither marry nor are given in marriage." ("Providence," by John Piper, footnote on page 667) So, if the end of the age and the age to come simply refers to the end of the Jewish age, then no one in this age that we now live in marries any more because we have been resurrected from the dead. Ideas like Postmillennialism and Preterism just need to go away because they do a horrible disservice to the text...

Scripture (KJV) teaches three timelines: the time past and the last days (Heb. 1:1-2), and the latter times (end times), which is mostly spoken of in the O.T. by the prophets, including 1 Tim. 4:1. The last days and the latter times are not synonymous; they are two different timelines. Therefore when believers say we're living in the last days now, in truth we are not. The importance of realizing we're no longer in the last days is that it show why the latter times timeline began when it did, which has to do with the church coming to the full to believe another gospel, which is not another, and deceives many to think they are something they're not by that gospel they believe and teach, which is not the gospel, which is of upmost importance. On the latter times timeline (end times) lies a period called the latter days, which is the very last portion of the latter times timeline. It's in this period, the latter days, when most of what the O.T. prophets prophesied about, which is when most of those things take place. Again, the most important thing to understand is what the gospel of Jesus Christ really is, which the church has forsaken, having turned the gospel into another, which is not another, and deceives many, thus why the end times (latter times timeline) began when it did. It takes approximately 2,200 years for the sun to pass through a constellation. Jesus’ birth marked the beginning of the age of Pisces. We are nearing the end as we enter the dawning of the age of Aquarius. Look up Mazaroth. Think about the magnificence of a God that put such a clock in the heavens for us yet very few ministers know about it!

I waited for some comment on the change 'sons of the kingdom' to 'children of the kingdom', but you moved on without mention of it. Sons covers males in one version, while children covers both sexes. I view this as being as different as genesis 3 is, in two different bibles. One points to man alone being evicted from the garden, without anything in the text to support Eve was evicted with him. While the other states clearly that they were both evicted.

It's interesting the number of languages people from that part of the world speak. In a much broader sense geographically speaking, I find that on average folks commonly speak a minimum of 2 and 3 languages to some degree just to communicate with everyone. I found it to be amazing when I lived in India to encounter that phenomenon and to discover that it isn't limited to just India. I would not be surprised at all if in addition to Aramaic, Jesus was able to speak some type of Hebrew due to religious reasons and Greek, due to His close proximity and need to communicate with those who spoke Greek. But I have to wonder if in the end it is relative to the real question at all considering it really speaks to the inerrancy of scripture and God's ability to preserve it. If you believe He is absolutely capable and wills it, then it doesn't really matter what language Jesus spoke or anyone else through the ages. What really matters is our understanding that the Word of God is flawless and the problem springs up when our interpretation and understanding of scripture leaves much to be desired at times. Your point does help us when we are trying to interpret scripture in the context in which it was written. ☺

Jesus didn’t pen the words he said. We do know Paul spoke Greek & probably Luke. If I remember correctly so I am not dogmatically stating that. Since I haven’t taken the time to check it out. Many of the earliest surviving transcripts are in Greek I believe. We do believe the biblical transcripts are Divinely inspired & preserved by the shear number of handwritten copies allowing any mistakes to be weeded out by the other copies.
