As such, expect a flurry of late cheap deals from the Championship too.
@dannytheh3ro3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily true, clubs playing in Europe are required to have a minimum of 4 players trained by the club and 8 trained within the nation for a minimum of 3 years before they turn 21. This is actually the reason why good English players are so ex0ensive in the first place, the big teams need them to fill out there squad. If they don't have these players they are restricted with the number they can register for European competition.
@dodge33cymru3 жыл бұрын
So many comments seeing this as an opportunity for people's chosen clubs, but IMO it's a terrible thing for football that the bottom clubs in England can buy the players from the top French Champions' League clubs; it's at risk of becoming the Super League by stealth. Don't get me wrong, it's arguably improving competitiveness in the English top flight, but for the future of continental football it's a grim future unless the other league's can find investors with similar pockets. It's a pity because the future of French teams as a competitive European force seemed to be on the way up with this original deal.

@@asheru9254 yes, but when they announced their new TV deal originally it indicated that there may be a future where the top French clubs were less reliant on that transfer income. Now, because of the deal's implosion (and subsequent replacement deal being much lower), it's the opposite case.

@AlexJones-ue1ll3 жыл бұрын
@@miamitten1123 Covid is a nightmare for football. Not only no audience, but people worried about jobs and the future have little patience for millionaires whining about lack of crowds. Football enthusiasm in general has cooled off; and with the EURO2020s giving a good show case on how large crowds spread the disease again, there will be no support for having crowds in stadiums when numbers rise again ... leading to another period of empty stands - which in turn make it less attractive to watch them on the Teley. And at the same time there are crazy fees in the air again. Like that 150m€ for Haaland. Thats just an insane amount of money and the feeling of a parallel universe between football and the average guy on the street will intensify.

@@AlexJones-ue1ll disagree.. fans are itching to get back into the grounds. The love for your club hasn’t really changed. Pricing may change, but English clubs are well financed, and whole clubs are being bought for peanuts in France, Belgium etc. More groups of several clubs are coming, Utd World for example.. Sheff Utd that is. There’s economies of scale, and transferral/specific roles like recruitment/data management, still in development for football. Pubs are going out of business, because beers are in supermarkets. Football clubs and crowds will endure beyond covid.. they’ve survived pandemics and wars before, and the fundamentals are still there. Football teams bond communities.

@@PhilWhelanNow they are well financed ... now. Thanks mostly to overpriced tickets and a overvalue TV deal. Next time the TV deal is up for negotiation, it might only be half, or two thirds of what its now. And then the "well financed" clubs may have problem.
