I think the Captain's ceiling was inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, whose work features dots, and especially black dots on a yellow background.

Great interview, Captains a champ! The one thing I hated about early punk was all the Music Press and their "Year Zero" shit, I was only 11 in 76 but even then I knew that nothing comes out of nothing, everything has inspirations and antecedents. Great video, cheers!

As a teenager I would've loved to have met the Captain. As a man in my 50s it seems I would still love to meet him. Great stuff. Shame that the only time I saw the Damned was when he did his solo stuff.

God..the captain is inhis mid 60s..i saw the damned on tour with marc bolan. I think it was 1977..where has the time gone ? A great character.
