Initially I totally blamed Tina Root for the spreading of the “Cyber” goth style 😅 It was like an amalgamation of what we now know as stream punk, with a good touch of nu-metal 😒 and lots typical/cliche accoutrements (coffin purses/lunch boxes, tartan dog collars as examples) Hot Topic type merch, And it was also taking over, finding clothing that you once had to make or travel great distances to procure, were now showing up in every mall in the United State. This to what was considered “nu_goths’ which also bore its owns type of music. I also feel some of this style was rooted (😅) due to what industrial girls were wearing in the clubs/ scene. The style became more vinyl, more fetish gear, and was much better for dancing to more ‘industrial’ type music in . IMO what is being called “Cyber” was based in this but may not have had as much impact as what is being tagged ‘cyber’ . Also the timing is pretty much the same 💜🖤

This was very well done. I'm not sure if you would want to do one of Backpacking subcultures! I like that you treated each of these Goths (most I have seen, you are spot on) as valid, interesting, etc... I guess I love goths, and sometimes like to dress up like Byron (English teacher!), not really goth myself, while my roommate was listening to Depeche Mode, I enjoyed it, but was following the GD about. But if you humm a little goth I can swing it, was a medeivel studies major in College.

Kinda missing in the 80s section, how absolutely common & de rigueur the biker's leather jacket was. Most often painted up usually in plain white acrylic paint with band logos or possibly an album cover. Jeans were black overdyed denim & skin tight, & Doc Martens featured very heavily in the male goth wardrobe of the 80s. I am a bit late but it is so nice and positive to see this video, during a hot summer, as a solo/lonely goth. 🖤💜🖤💜🖤 Personally, to protect my skin from the sun: high protection sunscreen, a black hat, oversized sunglasses, and linen clothes that are breathable and light despite the heavy heat. Goth is an offshoot of punk so they are pretty similar but they aren’t the same because they both have different music styles and different fashion. Emo is not goth because they listen to different music genre and they have a different look so they are all different subcultures.
