Encountered weird bug which repeats the "Game Over" Heat Action finisher Kiryu performs when you're at low health 04:01
Some heat actions are very loud, so loud it hurt my ears. Turned down the volume of those loud heat actions via editing.

I kinda like and hate it at the same time. Like yeah I like the fact Kiryu didn't lose because of plot, but I hate how Ichiban doesn't seem even as strong has any of Kiryu's notable past opponents.

Kiryu just never lost. Kiryu would let you in on something very important. The Yakuza game, its not like boxing. The Man who gets beat down isnt the loser. The guy who cant tough it out to the end, hes the one who loses. Dont you agree? In the yakuza life, there are no KO's. Kiryu would tell Ichiban that not winning a battle doesnt mean shit to him. Getting demoted from main character to side character or side protagonis? couldnt give a fuck. As long as hes alive, he will keep getting back up for more. Which is why Ichiban, a half-ass like him is the one thing he cant stand.

Thanks for this wonderful, engaging video! If LAD hadn't been turn-based combat, I wouldn't have gotten into playing the series. As it stands now; I have completed the game twice, have put almost 300 hours total into it, am working on getting all job stats and ultimate weapons totally maxed, and am planning to hit the true dungeon. I have also started trying to play Judgement, but I am terrible at the controls and can't get past the first boss. That has me unsure if I should buy LAD Gaiden, or skip it and get Infinite Wealth instead.

I would suggest doing a lot of streets fights so you'll get more used to the controls, also buy a lot of healing items and remember to use EX Heat Mode's heavy attacks as they deal a lot of damage. Good Luck. If you won't enjoy or really like the "Beat 'em up" style of combat at all then go with Infinite Wealth.

That's fascinating to read! I usually don't see this kind of comment so I love understanding your mindset. I happen to be the opposite, and I avoided LAD b/c it's turn based. I usually binge games before putting them aside for a long time due to life, so having to learn rpg strategies only to forget them makes playing rpgs difficult. Good luck with Judgement!

can only hope the mod maker can somehow work the party into functioning AI controlled npcs, though the kiryu fight should still be solo since it would be too easy with idol or nanba healing you.

It's been awhile since I checked on this mod and I'll admit when I heard about it forever ago I was kinda disappointed that it was just a Brawler reuse but it looks like you gave it a lot of new moves. I like that you made Tenacious fist presumably his hold triangle move, is Rock Throw his regular throw animation? Also the bat style looks good. Is there a clip online of the crane fight?

Hi, i'm not the creator of the mod. Please read the description. Tenacious fist is infact his hold triangle/hold heavy attack move. His bat style (Hero Job Moveset) is his "Close Proximity" regular attack move from the demo of Infinite Wealth So far only this Crane/Heavy Machinery fight has been uploaded with an earlier version of the mod by the creator. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2Swe5ibhJV7jrs

One thing i love about kiryus appearance in LAD is that his voice lines are pitched lower to make him sound a bit more intimidating

Are they actually pitched lower or is just them actually recording new in-game dialogue for Kiryu. Some of the non-cutscene voice clips in Gaiden go as far back as Kenzan and Yakuza 3.

@@DrMasterAlex By the looks of it, it's re-recorded lines as he toned his voice down. Maybe intentionally to age him up a bit but no actual proof if this is true

@@Ron1n_Sim Yeah, most voicelines were re-recorded for 7, which was surprising since they have been reusing his old voicelines for a while. What's wierd is that most of his voicelines from Gaiden are pre Y7 voicelines, what stranded out the most from the gameplay I've watched were the Y0 battle grunts, it's wierd that they decided reuse his Y0 voicelines when some of them were exclusive to that game and helped distinguish his younger self from the present one. Not a huge problem since I saw a mod that replace most of his vanilla voicelines with the ones from 7 and 8's demo

@@LightningBoltRaidenI might be wrong but I think Kiryu’s voice lines in 0 are the same ones as in 3, and I think some of Majima’s are date back to Kenzan or Ishin I think, I know I’ve heard the same ones in Ishin in 0, and Kiryu has Kenzan lines in 4 for those who don’t know.

As Ichiban takes his shirt off, Kiryu asks Ichiball's friends to leave the room for the fight. Ichiban is surprised as now this turn based fight is much harder. Little did he know, as Ichiban thinks of which skill he should use during his turn.. Kiryu throws a punch out of nowhere and it was so painful that his turn-based fantasy is ruined and he must fight Kiryu head-on.

I gotta say i love ichi's style (i know this is just a mod not like his full potential in a style.) but given his rowdy delinquent like nature. Some of his attacks are just all out. The charges heavy being him swinging his fist before connecting his moves are all wrestling or brawling. So sloppy hooks with grab moves that hurt. Bad. Ichi has technique but he has no. Real definitive style. But it gets the job done. Love freelancer too.

They are not playable at all as for now and you can only play as Ichiban, but we can expect mods replacing Ichi with one of his party members or other characters in the future with also the possibility of them having an unique moveset.

Honestly the turn based gameplay feels a lot more appropriate for the series as a whole. You get good with one fight style in the classic yakuza games and a lot of the rpg elements go out the window for me
