It may not be a necessary entry in the franchise, but as we move into what appears to be Kiryu's endgame, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is a treat, a reward for those who have followed his story since the beginning. I genuinely was not sure what I thought of this game until the credits were rolling, and then the intention of this project clicked in my head. It's a celebration of this character that fills in a few blanks but doesn't overstay its welcome purely for the sake of matching the length of the other games and a teaser for the main course coming in a few months. I've never been more excited about the future of Like a Dragon.

I like Ichiban quite a bit so I don't mind him taking over the series and Tak was a cool MC in his two games but there's only one Kiryu. I've spent so many hours with that big softie. Good to see him back in his own game even if it's a spin off.

nah to me this is Yakuza 7. Like a dragon is spin off (not even the same style) and Judgements are in distant future. Like a sister series.

My Game of the Year. As much as I like Yagami and Ichiban, it’s great to be Kiryu again. And while there are fewer sidestories in this game, it does help with the overall pacing.

You said, "Like a Dragon, as its called now" Just for anyone to know, here in Japan the series has always been called, "Ryu ga gotoku" which roughly translates to "Like a Dragon" "Yakuza" was the western release title only.

Yakuza is definitely the cooler title but as the second guy rightfully pointed out, it isn't really congruent with the series' main themes

I was hyped as fuck for like a dragon Ishin but unfortunately the unreal engine change made for a poor choice. The combat just felt bad especially off the heels of lost judgment which has great combat. I’m glad to see they returned to form with this and it’s a great time to be a Yakuza/Like a Dragon fan.

The combat is probably more a result of it being a 2014 game, cause it doesn't seem like they really "remade" much of the game other than visuals

For me its 7/10 compare with Yakuza 0 and Yakuza 7 (the best and the second) of the series. But it 8/10 and worth to play it.

@@True_ChristianThey just gave the west the original name. In Japan, that game is called Ryu Ga Gotoku (Like A Dragon in Japanese) 7. And Infinite Wealth is Ryu Ga Gotoku 8. So yes, Yakuza Like A Dragon was Yakuza 7.

i appreciate short and sweet nowadays i play a lot of rpgs and souls games, just this year finallly beat zelda breath of wild and tears of kingdom and red dead dredemption 2 and a lot of games arent short or sweet, way too long and boring. finally beat uncharted 4 and tho its not thaaaat long, it felt like it took forever to finish cus i was so bored. somethign that doesnt really happen with me and yakuza games

Dont forget PC, where it runs fantastically! Regarding the title, 'like a dragon' just more confidently reflects the series tone, better than the awkward 'yakuza', which sounds like a edgy 2000's western exploitation title.

I still really dislike that they didn't actually kill Kiryu off personally. Still gonna buy this, there has yet to be a Yakuza game release that I didn't enjoy, but still - I'd have a _lot_ more respect for RGG had they had the guts to actually stick with their original idea.

People already mentioned months ago that the game would have as much content as the Kaito Files, but while that was a $30 DLC, this is a $50 standalone release, and considering this game's original title is "Like a Dragon 7 - Sidestory", that is what it should've been. I don't know, I'm feeling since the explosion of the series in the west Sega is milking the franchise like there is no tomorrow, we are getting THREE standalone games in the span of less than a year, that's INSANE, and we are starting to see the drop in quality, first with Ishiin!, and now with Gaiden...hoping most time and money went to Infinite Wealth, because I'm starting to get worried about the future of the franchise, we know what happens when Sega gets greedy.
