Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, Ethan and I take on a much less challenging job than last week's video. This week is a Chevrolet Turtle, I mean, Cavalier, that has rolled onto it's roof on a gravel county road. The Trooper tries to play a joke on me and has the driver stop moving when I walk up. I know it's a dark sense of humor, but we have to joke about some of the situations we see. It's a coping mechanism which some people may never understand. It's not meant to be offensive to anyone...Just having a little laugh. Anyway, I let Ethan take the reigns on this job and do things his way. I'm there as traffic control and assistance only. He is stepping up nicely. Thankfully, the driver of this vehicle was not injured in the crash.
We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

Enjoyed Ron's comment about Ethan's sense of humor and then he cracks me up with the Austin Powers reference!! That's a classic for the channel. As a very young tow operator, (on a single boom/sling Holmes rig sitting on a F350 chassis) many years ago I find myself answering Ron's advice when watching. Most of the times I get it close to what he/Ethan does. Good stuff here. The business I worked at is still operatin now owned by a mid-30s family and the tow business is still operating as well. Much better equipment these days. The younger tow operator watches this channel, smart young man.

Another very informative video Ron. Thankfully no one was hurt. I used to do accident/crash recovery involving cars and small vans many years ago. All I had at my disposal was an old 88 inch wheelbase Land Rover, with a tuckaway hydraulic A frame on the back, and no winch. The Landy might have been old, but was more than capable in de-ditching cars with a chain attached to either the front or rear tow hitch. Every recovery was different, so I was learning all the time. Todays recovery vehicles are amazing, shame we didn't have them 40 years ago, they would have made life so much easier.

What did Ethan learn from this recovery? When you put it back on it's wheels, it rolls if you haven't made sure it's in park/gear with the parking brake set... Even then it "can" roll, so it's not a bad idea to put a safety chain to a tie spot!

Wow! All I can say is I'm glad I've never yet been in a roll over. I bet the driver is going to be feeling that for a while. Then, 10-20 years down the road, too. Believe me, I know that for certain from experience. Like 3 major lumbar surgeries and 2 major cervical spine surgeries later, I'm still feeling it! I don't envy the driver!

Another professional, straightforward rescue of a poor unfortunate little car that had a bit of a mishap. Good that no one was hurt. Here in Los Angeles the other day, we had a guy do the opposite of professional and straightforward. He was driving a tow truck like crazy, smashed it into a bunch of parked cars, flipped over the tow truck as well as some of the cars. Two people were hurt, not too badly, including the tow truck driver who was led away in handcuffs. Driver is suspected of DUI, and reports say a total of 13 vehicles were involved, plus some damage to structures and homes along the road. The video of the crash is mind boggling. How can someone even do that?

I had a 4 door 2000 Cavalier and had to take it off the road 3 years ago because of really bad rust around the tops of the rear strut mounts due to the heavy use of pure salt on the roads as well as the use of the liquid that's sprayed on the roads before a storm starts, but that little car had 265,000 miles on it and the engine and transmission ran absolutely fine! I loved that car!

Those Cavaliers of that vintage last a long time with simple maintenance. Easy to run over 500,000 miles. Even the earlier ones last a long time. My 01 Toyota Corolla has 220,000 miles and it doesn't use oil. Those engines are known to consume oil but mine doesn't. Barely broken in. I heard Alex laughing this morning over the owners legs sticking out of the car. This time of year is pretty hard on him. It is this week 9 years ago is when police found him locked in the small dog cage. This year seems a bit better since his mom now is spending the rest of her life in prison. He seems happier and less stressed because of it.

There are basically 4 reasons why this car ended up upside-down on a gravel road/driveway. 1. Another car hit them or they were forced them to take evasive action. 2. Driver was distracted, i.e. texting or having a good 'ol time with friends. 3. Driver was drunk. 4. Driver was going too fast. Which one or combination of reasons do you think caused this crash, considering there is only one set of tracks on the gravel?
