Great video, as always. Some people don't like watching drawn games, but your analysis makes every game interesting. I would like to see the 1978 match between Karpov and Korchnoi. Not all 30 games, of course, but both players had some impressive wins. Or, if you do Fischer v Spassky, you could highlight some of the Candidates matches. Even though Fischer beat Taimanov 6-0, he said every game was a struggle.

The diets are more indicative of their ages than “what works”...when you’re 22 you can eat whatever. Anand, well into his 30’s and from a primarily vegetarian culture, he has to eat a bit better to perform well.
@salmarwow6 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I can agree with you on this. You can eat whatever - applies if you aren't playing chess seriously. Try to eat something which is digested not so easily and go to play after one hour. You'll see you are not performing at your top level. Carlsen is eating some light food so he doesn't feel hunger, also some chockolade which gives him more energy and sugar for the brain.
@fienddube6 жыл бұрын
Oh good call. So he was 43 here. I thought he was 43 now. So my point exactly. Ya gotta eat well when you’re getting older. Not spaghetti pizza carb bombs.
@cantankerouspatriarch49816 жыл бұрын
Shawn Roberts, processed flour is easier for many people to digest than whole wheat because potential anti-nutrients like phytates have been removed. Some would struggle more with Anand's diet because lentils (dal) and aubergine are filled with anti-nutrients called lectins.
@bobbyfischer6046 жыл бұрын
Diet or no diet, being more talented and quite younger, that's an easy match for Carlsen.

I dont think we can ever compare modern day players to those from the days of Boddy, Tal, or any of the old legends. They didnt have computer analysis anywhere near what today's players have to analyze positions and play the best opening lines as possible. We'll never know if a Carlsen born 40 years ealier would find this same success.
@BoggiFroggy6 жыл бұрын
There is clearly a lot more to the game than opening lines. Computers and opening theory can help you avoid making mistakes but they do not replace genius or experience or hard work. "We'll never know if a Carlsen born 40 years earlier would find this same success." Well, you just made assumptions in the last few sentences. Think about it, if Carlsen couldn't play chess well 40 years ago than neither could anyone else today. Do you seriously think chess genius dried up over the past twenty years just because of computers? That is rather inane.
@crisgon95526 жыл бұрын
Carlsen is good at memorizing the games. Computers ruin things. Chess hasn't been the same sense the computers. A good opening/theory help out so much.
@BoggiFroggy6 жыл бұрын
"A good opening/theory help out so much." It does, yes, but it doesn't make you equal Tal or Fisher. You still need to actually think to win. Tal and Fischer memorized hundreds of games and extensively studied theory. I get the impression people idealize past players as pure prodigies who could calculate 50 movies ahead with no training, ingrained experience, or theory. That is simply wrong.

@10:56; I saw a move that wins at least a pawn. Maybe there is some positional disadvantage to it. The move I was looking at was Nd6+ instead of Nd4. If black replies with f×d6, then White replies with N×d6+, picking up the Bishop, and possibly the c6 Knight afterwards. Can anyone let me know if that is a good, or a bad idea, please? Thanks!
@lightningprowess60316 жыл бұрын
Bad move in the end white will have = 2 pawns,2 rooks black will have = 3 pawns, 2 rooks,a knight are you missing something? edit: what do you mean by fxd6? there's no black's pawn at f square maybe you mean cxd6? do you use the wrong timestamp? you made me confuse
@LJLMETAL6 жыл бұрын
Lightning Prowess After pawn takes Knight, the other Knight takes the pawn, forking the King and Bishop. Black King moves, and then White plays N×e8. If Black takes the Bishop, then R×c6.
