Those Band T-Shirts are so nostalgic. they remind me of my Highschool and College days. I used to have a couple of Slipknot, sepultura, pearl jam and silverchair shirts that I wear to school 😅

You should make some picky merch, James! For example, a shirt or hoodie saying "I chuck on my sound bar..." I'd buy that 👍

Hi Picky Audio it would be cool to hear your take on the JLab Epic Edition which is there premium ear bud. I believe it came out last year and apparently it compares to the top tier buds. It's in the $200 bracket. Thanks for your chanel it's probably my favourite for audio reviews.

Hey. Nice review. I've heard samples recorded by a binaural microphone , and I feared the S5 to produce sibilance and fatiguing treble. Listening to your review, I guess you'll confirm my impression...

Yep a bit too much but it can be fixed with some EQing.Thank you 👍

500$ for planar is not cheap, maybe they have a better than average driver, but considering you can get wired planars for under a 100$, wireless variant could be 200-300 $ easy. Mark up here is huge, previous model was around 300 I think on release.

the integration of the stax s5 is in reality really robust. they have perfect integration of all features and have perfect LDAC support in my experience. most other headphones tend to break connection after a meter. but what isn't justified is their lack of integrated EQ. i returned them because the sound wasn't adjustable to my hearing abilities and couldn't provide me the listening experience even a lousycheap anker lifetune could provide for 50€

R&D costs a ton, and this driver may be more difficult/expensive to manufacture. Not justifying its cost, just saying a lot goes into developing a product

The S3s were $400 on launch. It goes on sale from time to time, but the standard price is about $350 these days.

how do they stack with audeze maxwell which is probably their biggest competitor in the planar wireless field.
@cuerex85803 ай бұрын
i tried both for 14 days. the audeze maxwell sounds way more spacious than the stax and surpasses the quality when using EQ by $500. what speaks against the stax is their lack of EQ. what speaks against maxwell audeze is that they tend to break rather quickly and have alot of software issues and are bulky. i send both of them back because the Anker LifeTune/Q30 is still better for the price for just raw EQ'd sound quality. i don't see a reason to upgrade at all.. if you are not interested in EQ the Stax will sound pretty balanced.. but alot of headphones sound balanced. especially in this price range.

Bro Picky Audio, please do a Triple TWS Mic Test Battle for phone calls between: ✅ Earfun Air 2 NC ✅ Soundpeats Air 5 ✅ Soundcore Liberty 4 NC And rank them #1, #2, and #3 based on clarity, with valid reasons.

i tried the Stax S5 and was not impressed by it. there are more detailed and spacious headphones by default. also the lack of a sturdy Equaliser is an absolute deal breaker for this price tag. The Anker Lifetune/Q30 sounds better when eq'd and at this price point its advised to get the Airpods Max and be done. no need to worry about any feature, especially if you are an iphone user.

Did you know ATH M50 (without any letter behind it) was the original dynamic sound copied from Yamaha and Sony? Anyway, Edifier copied the tine and use it for their so called Dynamic sound. So S5 has the signature Edifier Sound (dynamic mode), Signature Stax sound (the monitor mode), and the original (S3 sound). Since you are listening to Wintersun Time 2, I suggest you listen to it in Monitor mode with lower volume, then slowly raised the volume until you regular listening level. Why? Because Stax is famous for the ultimate aound engineering headphone with their signature Electrostatic drivers, super revealing and very flat. Why do this? Because the older you get, you will prefer such sound more. I was a fan of V-Shaped sound, but now I listen to a lot more flatter sound IEMs formuaics like Wintersun, Nightwish, etc. You'll be surprised.
