Only person in Hip hop watching the numbers daily is Akademiks, and only so he can compare every rappers numbers to Drake, who he is obsessed with. All this attention on sales, is apparently making some artists fear dropping their next project. It should be about how much people enjoy your album and are they replaying it. Are people discussing how good the songs were, the lyrics, has that artist grown creatively.

I think the problem with EA2 is the little to no fanfare compared to the first, yeah it had a trailer and did that UFO thing in NY but that was it. The first EA had way more marketing to build up traction and not only that, there was also the hype and general excitement of whether or not the album was even releasing at all due to constant leaks or label issues. People really thought that album wasn’t ever gonna be released so whenever Uzi dropped singles like New Patek, Sanguine Paradise, and That Way all it did was raise everyone’s expectations and hype even more, almost like a perfect storm

I personally think he just dropped this because he was originally gonna release some Barter 16 project a year ago but due to leaks he had to scrap it and get back to the drawing board however he needed to drop something this year I guess so here we are. I’m still satisfied with this release regardless, or at least I don’t think it’s bad

Leaks and snippets have proven that, but Even though this album was a blatant throwaway album to get him out of that garbage record deal that he’s been in for the past 9+ years, Uzi was NOT in a position to drop another bad album Back to back years in my opinion. also, Uzi‘s biggest problem will forever be his song selection due to his questionable song selection and with Atlantic records picking the songs mostly.
