Lil Wayne turns pro

10 years in the making for lil Wayne turning pro. I remember the first time Wayne started skating and seeing how determined he was with it and really reminded me when I first started. Thank you phil (Wayne Filmer) for bringing this moment to life… we all appreciate you. When you pick up a board and fall in love. I am happy to see my bro turn pro and be apart of the process. This is the first time in my life I see the inner child of Wayne. As a child he couldn't be that growing up, the adult was forced on him and it's sad. I don't think people realize how many people started skateboarding because they seen Wayne start all those years ago... especially young black kids, that is quite literally pro sht. Real talk, he inspired me to start skating again, I was around 25 when I seen one of those early videos of him starting to skateboard and it inspired me to start skating again, I just turned 34.. so yeah it's been around 10 years. Nyjah got better than SOTY because he won over people's respect, I'm seeing a lot of people who really haven't fvcked with him much at all, have their minds absolutely melted from his footage this year and they absolutely can't do anything else but respect the dude at this point, let alone all the interviews and stuff him showing more of his personality, people realizing he's really just a skate rat that made it big and has been super successful with sponsors and contest, but overall being in the streets, skating with his closest friends is what he cakues most out of skateboarding. SOTY is thrashers personal award to whoever skater (and possibly their brands) that they fvck with the most. This year should tell people what thrasher SOTY has always been about because it's always been like this and hasn't changed...it's not an award from the general population of skaters, it's literally thrashers sht. I personally think they should change that and make it about what the people want, but they aren't going to...that's their thing.

Then I saw the second video , how much better he had gotten from that first video . I instantly felt he isn't here for the fad , Tune is here to stay. Wayne is the definition of a Legend. Not just because of his work in the rap game but this dude literally became successful to become a BIG KID again (remember he has been in the rap game since 12). I look at this as more of a tribute board. I think he knows it too. For this release it’s more about the iconic status and the love for the game not necessarily the raw talent or skills.
