I hate that people bust on Wayne's skating abilities. He's a rapper that skates, not a skater that raps. To be fair, he’s been skating a much shorter period of time than he has been rapping. I wouldn’t expect a skater to be anywhere close to his rapping ability in 10 years even if that skater consistently put in 40 hours a week to rapping. That’s just to give you some perspective.

Skating used to be such a tight nit community of a certain type of person back in the early 2000’s and there was such a stigmatism from the rest of the world as to who we are. Wayne brought an opened eye and different perspective to the rest of the world of what skateboarding was. I think so many of the friends in skating I cherish today I wouldn’t have had Wayne not brought skateboarding to the outside world. ❤

Dude Wayne has always been apart of my life. I was listening to him in 8th grade when the first Carter came out. Then all of a sudden when the Drought 3 came out all my friends jumped on the bandwagon in high school. We even called ourselves “The Squad” and did the Squad up hand sign for us. Mind you this is the mid to late 2000’s before ppl started wearing skinny jeans and shit. We lived in a suburb of Chicago part in Cook County part in Dupage that had no gangs or anything at all. Yet our police never had anything to do aside from chasing drunk high schoolers or kids smoking weed so they took us seriously which we were joking. We thought they were just being ridiculous until we saw all of our pictures up on a wall with surveillance photos after my friends house got raided lol.
