ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns as Queen of Country Reba McEntire claims her red chair alongside last season's champ, Niall Horan, and returning superstar coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon.
The show's innovative format features five stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and Live Performance Shows.
This season, the block returns to the Blind Auditions, and during Battles, each coach will have two steals to use. The Three-Way Knockouts are also back. This time, however, artists will select their own songs to perform.
Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast. This time, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

The mix of falsetto, head voice, chest, and runs is just impeccable. She just has such a storyteller voice. That tone is just on another level. It’s warm and rich, but also unique! I do however, think it would be nice to see her truly connecting to the lyrics and bringing those emotions to life. @@equinoxious6969 good performers first and foremost connect to the message of the song and deliver that. The song is about suicide and drug addiction. Here, the big smiles/laughs removed the possibility of a strong emotional portrayal (which would have added so much) and showed a disconnect.

She did a great rendition of a classic. Thankfully, in reality, music is not a competition, what she did and what Stee are very different. Both great respectively. I would have to say that technically and for me emotionally Stee was vastly superior, but again, music is not a competition, at a certain level it becomes a matter of taste and style and song selection and communication to an audience. Is Bob Dylan as good of a singer as Pavarotti? What if I said YES. Does it matter? Or is the power of music that which connects to you in a certain moment? And thank Heaven that’s what music and art is! That’s why these competitions are meaningless. This a network television show meant to entertain you and sell advertising by creating drama but it’s all an illusion. Everyone participating knows that. I hope that all of these great artists remain true to their amazing selves and find their audiences and remain themselves and do what they do best and am thankful they have a national forum to do it. Don’t be fooled that one voice is better than another because everyone’s voice is beautiful and perfect to the right listener.

Artistically, this version is truly original and beautiful. Lila takes this classic James Taylor song (one of my favorite songs of all time) and makes it her own. Her musical changes are interesting and wonderful. I only wish, though, that someone had given her a bit more background knowledge of what the song's about. James Taylor was talking about the suicide of a childhood friend, his own difficulties in overcoming drug addiction, and his trying to bounce back after professional failures. He has *lots* of reasons to say "Won't you look down upon me Jesus, You've got to help me make a stand, You've just got to see me through another day." It's hard for me to imagine smiling through this song, unless perhaps you are trying to smile through all the pain. For me, this song expresses the hope of remembering the upbeat times of life ("sunny days that I thought would never end") in the face of so many struggles, especially when you are dealing with the unexpected loss of a dear friend. It's hard to tell this story through the song if you don't know what the story is. 😞
