I agree! Me and my wife are seeing him in a couple months and it’s just not her style of music. I just love music in general, but James Taylor is something special. His humor is what has won my wife over and now she is looking forward to seeing him. Can’t wait!!!

What's cool about James is that Fire and Rain is literally perfect. But he was cool enough to have fun and do a parody of his own stuff. Props to the original JT for not being "that guy" who thinks that his songs are the second coming of Christ.... some of his fans do and that's cool, but he's level headed about it.

I’m a little late to the party here, but this is just too important not to weigh in. I was actually around back then and we were taught there are some things you just don’t do and one of them was, “You Don’t Mess Around With Jim” You Millennials, always lookin’ down at your phones might not know, “When the bad folks all get together at night You know they all call big Jim boss, just because, And they say; You don't tug on superman's cape You don't spit into the wind You don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger AND YOU DON’T MESS AROUND WITH JIM So I just don’t want to have to say this again, I am a pool-shootin’ boy My name is Willie McCoy But down home they call me “Slim” You Millennials need to Find out where it's at And it's not hustlin' people strange to you Even if you do got a two-piece, custom-made, pool cue Well...do,do,do, Uptown got its hustlers, Bowery got its bums, 🎵🎶’ kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5W3amOwrNqJZ9U Sticks-of-TNT 🧨🧨 P.S. All in fun My Millennials ... With apologies to the late, great Jim Croce and James Taylor, much love. You STILL rock‼️

I can't stop smiling. I've been in love with James Taylor since 1970 when this song came out and I had just moved to Northern California from New York to live with virtual strangers (cousins). I would sit in my room listening to his soulful voice and tender lyrics days on end. Some 52 years later and he still surprises and moves me. This song is a new classic! And of course, Mr. Colbert is a lovely addition. Thank you, my sweet baby James.

On the request of my wife, we went to see him about 10 tears ago at the Montreal forum along, to my surprise, 15,000+ other people. Didn't know much about him and could vaguely recognized some of his big hits. Then, for two hours I felt like it was just me, my girlfriend and the 30/40 people immediately around us alone with him and his band. Along with Paul McCartney also at the MTL Forum (1990) this is by far the best musical performance I saw, and I've seen quite a few........

I've only had the pleasure of seeing James live once - at an outside concert in Connecticut, back in the late 80s. My boyfriend at the time was with me, and he was a jazz piano student at the university we went to. At that time he had very little respect for music outside of his beloved jazz, so he didn't really know JT. But when he heard him live, he was blown away. James Taylor is one of the best musicians in American history. A lyricist, and song writer; the way he engages with the music, the band, and the audience; the way he improvises, and the fun and humor he brings to performances. His comfortable guitar playing, the stellar musicians he surrounds himself with; his humility and talent side by side; the singability of his songs, the way he brings an audience together. I'm 53 years old, but I still wanna be James Taylor when I grow up.

I just love that James has no ego and can spoof his song. Coming from perhaps the most influential songwriter of the 1970's. Pit his top ten songs against any other solo artist of that time and he stands out at the top.
