IKR! They try to make it all really humorous and don't do anything to show how bad it can be. I mean, there are some where the characters drink and drink and drink and it's always 'funny' and there are no consequences. And there are some where they do something like say something they regret like "I don't need you." or something, and everyone is very shocked and angered by that. I mean, I guess that's better than just trying to make it humorous, but it's still dulling down the true dangers of drinking... I really like the way BMW portrayed alcohol tbh. It statred out as Cory doing it because he was depressed over the breakup. Then he pressured Shawn into drinkin (VERY SHOCKING THAT IT WAS CORY GETTING SHAWN TO DRINK THOUGH! HAHA). It all then became kinda lighthearted and they were being silly and happy and everything seemed fine to them both. Then they got arrested because they were underage. Got yelled at by Alan because it was a stupid thing to do. They agree not to, but Shawn can;t stop. That's when it becomes more serious to Cory. Shawn was still drunk and feeling good and all that, so nothing bad about it occurred to him. And then the really bad thing happened, which is Shawn shoving Angela. That's when he realised it was serious. He had already had all his friends (and brother) telling him it was serious and that he needed help and that they would help him through it, but he wasn't affected by it until he shoved Angela because he didn't really believe anything bad would happen. Then it did and he instantly sobered up (he was probably still feeling the effects of alcohol a ot, but he sobered up realising what he did...) Then he apologised to everyone, and revealed to Feeny that he and Jack are getting help for it. I do wish we got to see some aftereffects from it, and repercussions but knowing that he was getting help was okay too...

Jack tensed up and kinda came towards Shawn his teeth were kinda grit and he looked angry, but no. I think they just didn't really know what to do. I don't think any of them had dealt with anything like that before. But Topanga got mad, and I think Topanga expected them to do something about that fact, y'know, Shawn just pushed her best friend, but I think that's how come she gave Cory that look and then pushed into the both the Hunter boys, harder into Shawn.

And that shows when the two broke up and Topanga came and took care of Shawn and he said that they are friends too. There are a lot of sweet moments between them so in this scene, yes he insulted her but he insulted Cory too. It just highkey pissed me off that Shawn got angry enough to drunkenly shove Angela, and Topanga is able to brush herself past the Hunter boys without any repercussions whatsoever. Shawn was just too remorseful to retaliate at all despite still being very drunk, I guess? Obnoxious. I've always hated that. And you would think she'd show fear instead of anger knowing how volatile he was being, remorseful or not. The second thing is that Feeny was given an apple and an offer of 12 dollars, and Topanga was given an entire gift basket and a kiss on the cheek over a few negative words, which is nothing in comparison to shoving your girlfriend in drunken anger. All Angela got was a 10 second exchange at the end of the episode about how Shawn won't do it again and he doesn't like himself drunk either. The words "I'm sorry" were never even used. (I'm aware that they weren't used with Feeny and Topanga either, but gifts were offered to Feeny along with the mention of being "so out of line," and Topanga cut Shawn off when he tried to tell her he was sorry. Not to mention that, again, she got an entire fruit basket and a kiss on the cheek, LMFAO.) Had the roles been switched (Topanga were shoved instead of Angela), I doubt the rest of the script would have remained the same. Both Cory AND Jack would have stuck their necks out for Topanga, and her final apology would have been MUCH bigger despite the fact she and Shawn aren't dating.

I mean, I think it was pretty obvious to everyone there that Shawn was just as shocked and scared by what he had done as everyone else. It wasn't just remorse, it was exactly as he said right after Topanga left: "how did that just happen?" So yes, he may have still be very drunk, but even in that state he knew as soon as he did it that he had let things go way, way too far. So I don't think it was particularly unrealistic that that would have been enough of a wake up call for him, or that Topanga was more concerned than scared. And in terms of the apologies, well for one thing, in the scene right before that he mentioned that she wasn't returning his messages, so clearly he was reaching out a lot more than just the scene we see in the end. But I can also see it being a matter of him having known that sending "I'm sorry" gifts wasn't going to cut it after what he'd done with Angela. He had said some really nasty things in class and to Topanga, hence the gifts, but shoving Angela like that was very serious, and warranted a much more serious conversation rather than just an apology. So I think starting off with "I don't like me when I'm drunk either" was a really good start that went beyond an apology, and showed her a) that he fully understood the severity of what he had done, and b) that he was committing to put in the work to make sure he would never allow it to happen again.

Visiting her to make amends through a conversation, a gift (only because he'd done this for the other two), and an apology would have been appropriate, honestly. I still definitely think they could have written this episodes better than they actually did. I believe he should have done even more than he had, AND more than he did for Topanga and Feeny, because yes, what he did to Angela was significantly worse than talking back and just the act of getting drunk in the first place. It may have been more than we saw on screen (with the calls), but it wasn't enough. You're right that even drunk, its not likely he would have shoved Topanga or anything after being in shock about shoving Angela. I just hate that she brushed passed him with ALL of that room because it was so blatantly obvious that she could have moved over, but just wanted to get at him. Rightfully so, but it's hilarious that nothing like this has ever happened to or with Topanga (any act of violence against her whatsoever), and I have a strong feeling that if it had, EVERYONE would have immediately jumped to her defense (physical protection for her and against Shawn) despite being shocked.

But I have to say that the realisation spreading all over his face after having shoved Angela against the door and realising that it was indeed getting out of control was intense as hell as much as because of him than because of her. The fact he got into sense because of her is also quite relevant of how important she really became in his life in so little time, if that basically made him sober up. Their reconcilation melted me inside, they didn't have to talk with words to get each other on this one, their eyes talked to each other. I think he's conscious it will not gonna be have second time acceptable for her and he sure is gonna make everything to never let that happen again. For sure, he's not gonna forgive himself during a looooong time for having touching her even if it was only pushing her away with clearly none attempt to hurt her in a first place but still, he did it and that's gonna haunting him for a very long time which is sad. Also, his unbearable need to apologize over and over again to everybody who got affected on this was incredibly touching. Know, I wonder if Angela didn't have some issues related to that in her past, her reactions make me wonder. Compared to Topanga, there wasn't any anger on her attitude but mostly almost some desperation to sort things out the most peacefully possible and her reaction when he shoved her plus her answer of it "I don't like when you drink" knowing that's her first time sawing him in that state but still it was like she was reliving a similar scene and got triggered about it. I would like to know more about her background starting by her parents.

“I did. You weren’t.” has always irritated me. It’s just more Topanga who has to be better than Cory in their breakup. Sure, the message here is drinking is bad. But in the party scene, he WAS adorable. At least, everyone loved him! Topanga was the one who came up to Cory at the party expecting him to be messed up that she was there. Saying “I won’t stay very long” and him being cool and saying “stay as long as you like.” She got upset and left. I hope the show doesn’t consider it canon that he wasn’t adorable, because everyone loved him but Topanga, who didn’t like seeing him so happy.
