Tbh I'm surprised with situation with Tree Spirit at the end - these enemies aren't something great, but their grab always felt easy to dodge for me and I never had problems like that.

It is, I think that arena fucked with him somehow, those were definitely well timed dodges that should have worked

I think the issue was for the first few times he was too far away, so dodging in got hit caught in the hit box. This is why I basically started hugging these a-holes when I fight them, because most of their attacks will just whiff, and if not they are very easy dodges.

yeah every time i've dodged their grab i always manage to roll super far to the right so i don't even touch their model, idk what exactly i do differently but i've never had a situation where i get scooped like that lol

Smarag didn't have any "bugged" animation. IDK if Aggy just doesn't know that the dragons have TWO tail attacks even if he is a profesional (which is weird AF), or if he was so focused in the game and he was in such a bad place that he couldn't just see the animation. But no, it wasn't bugged, that animation is 100% normal

I'm no a professional, but I also have never seen that second tail animation. Sometimes you can legitimately never see a certain attack because of random chance + your typical positioning. E.g. I fought Margit hundreds of times and there's this one attack that he only used in like 2 of the fights. No clue why, and it shocked me when I saw it, but sometimes you just don't see some attacks.
