Spirit Tracks is my underrated gem of the franchise. While it's hard to recommend the game for its gameplay, as the stylus controls aren't for everyone and I can recognize they're kinda janky, the story and characters of Spirit Tracks are amazing. Specifically Zelda, who in my opinion, is the best written version of Zelda we've ever had. Having her as your companion throughout the entire game and getting to spend time with her and learn her strengths, weaknesses, and fears, adds so much to the finale of the game when you finally confront Malladus. Also Zelda being able to possess suits of phantom armor is such a fun mechanic that really adds to her character and the gameplay. The relationship between Link and Zelda feels very real and very earned by the end of the game, and that's the best part of it for me. Overall I'd put the game in B, but Zelda's writing and the story are definitely A+.

I feel the need to clarify, for those that haven't played it, that the Master Sword doesn't break in BoTW, it just turns off for some time which is still weird but not as bad as if it actually broke. Just imagine how bad that would be :/

Loved how passionate you got in this video lol. As for the damsel in distress trope, personally I've never had any issues with it (I'm of the mind most tropes aren't inherently good or bad, they're bad when overused ofc). I think it's kinda rare to even see it these days. Most female characters are usually in the thick of things instead of needing to be constantly saved, so the occasional story with said trope should be fine. So long as, you know, the character is well-written. Oh, and about BOTW: good game, but I missed the dungeons, the music, and I hate the item durability lol. I didn't escape the weapon durability in Bethesda games just to have it in my zelda games

About weapon durability in Bethesda games. Morrowind and Daggerfall they were fine. Durability tied to the quality of the weapon (like daedric artifacts having large health pools so u don’t have to worry about them breaking as often) make those higher tier weapons feel even more rewarding. In addition to their killing potential. And they also added some additional story elements (like in Daggerfall if your ebony sword breaks and you’re forced to use the enemy’s iron sword in a pinch). All that said in BOTW and Oblivion the durability was done poorly since it seemed like if u used the weapon for longer then a couple minutes then it was ready to break. At that point it was less of a roleplaying/progression element and was just flat out annoying.

Vaati best villain though :( I actually had no issue trying to actually navigate the world at all. The map was pretty straight forward and some puzzles were actually massive brain teasers. I actually LOVED it and minish woods is my all time favorite from this game. So somber :) Edit: Also BOTW for me is an S. Nintendo took a massive risk, and it was worth it! At least in my opinion! TP: Zant is creepy is heck. He starts out cold and menacing then shows his true colors as insane and childish, traits which manifest in his boss battle. Sure made for interesting villain. Ganon is iconic but he never struck me as crazy so much as just plain evil. Zant is unique in that regard. Also, that scene where he gets really close to Midna and says, "I need you." Yep, creepy. Great villain. I also liked the whole thing with the Green Goblin and the cool battles you have with him, as well as the epic victory pose Link does after the first one. Also, did you not see Midna's true form? I'm surprised Joe wasn't simping over that. 11:14 - FBI, open up! PH: Admittedly, I do not particularly like the idea of the Temple of the Ocean King. But those games have their fans, to be sure. Legend of Groose: So you said earlier you like _all_ the 3D Zeldas. I'm sure that statement aged well, lol. Personally, I like most of the game except the Imprisoned battle repeating itself three times, the controls, and the b****y water dragon that doubts you for no reason.

Concerning Zelda being a "damsel in distress," she is actually only like that for the first quarter of the game, until she remembers who she really is. After that, she is no longer saved or needing to be saved. Skyward Sword is actually set before all other Zelda games in the franchise, and is set before the kingdom of Hyrule was established. It is also established that the first king and queen of Hyrule were Link and Zelda. Fi singing was just ridiculous and shows how limited Nintendo was at the time. The remaster, though the same game, is much better, and the tanky, often unresponsive motion controls have been replaced with a wireless controller. Without motion controls, the game is responsive and way more fun. SS is also the only Zelda game with a Multiversal Link.

When Skyward Sword released I couldn't even play it with how awful the motion controls were, thus I hated it for the longest time. But when it re-released on Switch with way better controls, I played it and it shot up in my opinion from garbage to B tier. Though repetitive and relatively small in scale, the story and music were really good. Groose's character development and Fi's farewell being my favorite parts.

I only just commented on SS but I gotta say something about BotW too. The lack of music compared to the rest of the games was a creative choice to emphasize the loneliness of Hyrule 100 years after its been destroyed. With that choice, the legendary Koji Kondo didnt return for the game which is a real shame. Almost everything else said I agree with (weapon durability could've been better but I think it was a good idea to add, cause not every weapon can be indestructable like in the other Zelda games' kind of adds a bit of realism)

I don't think there's a single Zelda game I dislike. I haven't played all of them, but the ones I have I all like. I guess that's just how my brain works. Once I like something like a franchise, I cannot dislike it at all. I can be less enthused for some games but I like literally all of them. Like when I played Skyward Sword on the Switch, I genuinely had no idea why everyone hated it. Breath of the Wild was great. Yeah it's WAY different from every other Zelda but the plot was really good. Plus all the tragic shit really can tug at the heart. Like how Mipha was in love with Link, made him the Zora armor, but was killed by Ganon before she could give it to him. Then her spirit vowing to always watch over him and her powers allow Link to heal, showing she's still caring for him. That was fucking incredible and actually made me sad.

Honestly a link between worlds was the only 2d zelda game that kept my interest the entire time i played it (and its one of the few zeldas that i beat because every other zelda ive tried to play except for skyward sword and the links awakening remake i just did not have any fun with), and i just loved every part of it, the dungeons were so well designed and fun and i loved every single one. My only real negative with it is that the ending was kinda meh, but i still had fun with it, so i totally get why they put it in S tier.

Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game, however, I did not like Zant. For the first 2/3 of the game, He was fantastic and held a commanding presence whenever he was on screen. It made me love him and I was wanting a good original Boss Fight with him like what we got with Ghirahim in Skyward Sword. But when we met up with Zant in the Twilight realm right before his boss fight, the build up to him was like letting a balloon full of air go and to see all the potential just flop onto the ground when he started throwing a tantrum and just to have his boss fight be boiled down to a run of the mill boss rush of previous bosses. Man Zant, you were done dirty and could have been more.

Listen, listen... listen... If I have to sit here and listen to Twilight Princess fans gush about that game, I'm not gonna turn around and listen to anyone trash Skyward Sword, my favorite Zelda game before BotW/ TotK. Yes, it has a LOT of problems. But it's also got a ton of charm in all the right place, and some of my favorite characters, items, and bosses. The motion controls weren't that bad, just overused. If they had restricted the motion controls to purely swordplay, it would've been a lot better. And, even then, you get used to them after awhile. The linear story doesn't bother me, Skyward Sword was intending to tell a more focused story in the first place. Fi is also my favorite companion to this day. Her character arc is subtle, and not really at the forefront of any of the plot, but it's there. It's one of her gaining humanity. I cried during Fi's goodbye. Also, she technically has a cameo in BotW and TotK, though not in her personified form. Demise also gets kinda referenced in TotK through Ganondorfs wardrobe change. It's seen in the trailer too, so this ain't a spoiler. Also also, the art style was my favorite in the series too. All the soft colors and pastels. Such a grand and intoxicating innocence. The point is, I love origin stories, and Skyward Sword is no exception. Then again, my opinion on the Zelda series has always conflicted with the "norm". I hate Majora's Mask. It's hyper-tedious. Ocarina was only alright, though not even close to my favorite.Twilight Princess was good, but I didn't like the vibe. I enjoyed Spirit Tracks, though I broke my DS, so I never finished it (Don't even know if it's possible to E-word it, given its reliance on the mic). Still haven't played Wind Waker. And BotW's Divine Beast really aren't as bad as people make them out to be... just Waterblight Ganon.

They're not really like Mario and Peach. The characters are reincarnated from game to game so not technically the same characters, though they fill the same role. Link is typically a young swordsman who lives a normal life in a peaceful village, until things happen that require him to go on an adventure. The Triforce is split into 3 parts, Power, Wisdom, and Courage. Antagonist has power, Zelda will have Wisdom, and Link has Courage. Usually Link and Zelda work together to suppress the one who wields the Triforce of power. In some games Link and Zelda can range from total strangers, to fairly close, to pretty much romantic in some games.

That really depends on which game you play. The very basic lore of the Zelda franchise is that in Skyward Sword an evil being called Demise curses Link and Zelda and himself to forever reincarnate and fight. Then there’s complicated timeline branches and what not, but every iteration of Link and Zelda will be different depending on the game.

Twilight Princess? Idk never interested me. Maybe its the art style? But I found it uninteresting by look and even after playing the beginning. The only reason it sold so well was because people wanted a "realistic" looking Zelda game. My favourite Zelda game is Majora's Mask, Second is Wind Waker and for the rest... idk I'd have to think more on that. But Imma just say what I think of Twilight Princess. Twilight Princess is trying to be as dark as Majora's Mask but ends up just being edgy compared to it. Just never found twilight princess appealing.

Twilight princess is the most mid definition of a Zelda game, the setting was great and I liked the more adult nature and style, but that’s where it ends.
