With the currently depressed prices for all evtol companies, I'm jumping in with Lilium. At around 3 bucks a share, now's the time. Cathie Wood's buying all the brands, but I'm going with the technological leader and hoping they can partner with a company that can aggressively promote the brand and book orders.

Lilium differs from the rest in almost every way. Its the only Vtol aircraft of its type. The only one that doesnt see the use of exposed rotors. Ironically with 36 ducted fans its the aircraft with the most engines , which vastly increases its redundacy. but in terms of flight controls the lilium jet is the simplest , with the the least moving parts for navigational control. As its very propulsion also serve as control surfaces as well as additional lift. with only one vector of motion for its 4 moving parts. Far less complicated than its competition, some of which require many separate moving parts for each form of motion.

Lilium has a slight advantage over the other two. 1) Hardware wise, Lilium has a much simpler design, the other two is just a giant drone with a similar design 2) Software wise, Lilium is data driven and supported by Palantir software. The end result? The Palantir software will create a digital twin of Lilium, runs thousands and thousands of simulation, and over time, this will improve Lilium dramatically before the other competitors realise.

I invested in all but EHang over a year ago. I ranked Joby as #1 overall with Lilium as #2. However because Lilium was considerably cheaper, I have over 3 times as many shares of Lilium than Joby. Today, I was considering buying more Lilium and after seeing this video, I intend to buy some more. I look at investing like going to the casino and playing Blackjack. The more you know the better the chances of winning but that does not mean you will win. I don't need the money from my investments so gambling is fun at the Wall Street Casino especially since I am using the "House's Money"(dividends) with which to continue to gamble(buy more stock). I have won big with start-ups such as GEELY, and I hope to do so with EVTOLs. PS, I gave you a "thumbs Up".... I will be watching your other videos.

i would say joby will get the heads up, but eventually lilium jet will win, since they are going to roll out 7 seater and even 16 seater in the future, which will make the fare per person go down (cheaper fare) but we have to look at tesla.... if if tesla decided to join in the fray, (they are planning a 50 seater version) then it would further complicate the competition. lilium's biggest advantage so far is the layout, by altering the layout you can turn it into any configuration, the space is much better and bigger than its propeller driven counterpart. archer..... well might as well you focus on the private sport airplane business, 2 seater ain't gonna be useful or profitable. the real game changer is when you can have a plane that can seat 7 people but can land ANYWHERE and not being confined to designated airport.

it looks like this video is a promotional for lilium. first lilium is noisier than joby because it uses smaller ducted fan so it sounds like multiple vacuum cleaner. while joby uses 6 propelller with 5 blade each so it rotates much slower and has more pleasant sound and its more efficient compared to smaller multiple fan.

Change the main wing to Triangle wing could significantly reduce wing span to half, and duplicate the front wing to be the third one on the top rear end at higher place maybe a bit look rear stabilizer of some commercial aircraft. Until they won't put significant weight in this things, lift off and fly 200km I don't believe in any of these. I think they are completely depending on battery development with significant better energy density than what we have now. Of 100 companies 90 will co bankrupt and how big the market really will be at the end no one can tell. So it's a big gamble, but still interesting.

Healthy scepticism is important. You raise very good points. I do agree there will be consolidation in this space and many startups will go under. The industry is still in early stages if development. It would take a number of years until this technology becomes operational and many more years until it becomes profitable. Battery density is a major hurdle.

The truth of the matter is that whats being created today was always possible from the standpoint of an idea in the past,, BUT!! not likely in the past due to expense and the need for technology to vastly improve. The past saw extreme expense to even develop a prototype. What differs today aside from general layout concepts is the materials used. Carbon fiber has been around for some time but it was extremely expensive. seeing use in the aviation industry and in big money sports like Formula one. As you know a few super high cost sports cars as well. but it was not something you average joe found himself using as a development material. at time even the use of Aluminum was crazy expensive. as such the prototype vtol aircraft made at the time were big bulky and very very heavy. And least we forget, none of them were electric. so weight even without occupants were extreme. the next issue was avionics. know of any lightweight computers in the 80's and 90's? Exactly!! none!. not for another 3 decades. So.. The concepts and ideas were their but the technologies were either not up to snuff to properly pull it off and or the expense was way too high. Same thing goes for many things that we see today going into mass production but had its roots as far back as the 1960's such as VR. The technology and costs must come down to consumer level and lower. some of the biggest innovations that has seen to what we have today are things like LCD tv. LCD's were once very very expensive. their largest application being the tiny displays in video cameras. but as the price came down and the manufacturing process easier so did it sales as televisions increase, prices came down quality went up to eventually we started finding DIY'er sticking monitors in automobiles. And eventually the game changer was the iphone. which led to even higher quality displays and display technologies. AMOLED. And when its price came down enough, your garage DIY'ers could afford to tear them apart and make cheap inexpensive home brew VR displays that otherwise wouldve cost'd thousands upon thousands of dollars. So the cost and technologies must catch up to the point it becomes a practical application. Do you realize the explosion of products that has come from lithium batteries. And what will come from Tesla next generation batteries? heres one... electric Vtol aircraft. All the things ive mentioned are now an evolution to which what was not practical in the past has now become practical to make it very easy to produce unlike decades past. Thats the difference, that what the delay was all about. waiting for the tech to catch up and the cost to come down. Look what we have today.. super cheap carbon fiber, super cheap lightweight super computers that are several major components all in one tablet size touch display. lightweight high capacity batteries. advanced lightweight avionics. and cad development and design to put it all together.

Lilium's design with dozens of tiny ducted fans seems a poor choice for use in populated areas to be honest, smaller propellers are less efficient than larger ones, they also need to rev higher to produce comparable thrust, which means noise level will be higher frequency, and thus percieved as more unpleasant to human beings. Fans this many and this small will sound like a swarm of screaming banshees, particularly on landing and takeoff, and especially with a fully loaded aircraft - which is incidentally also when the fans are turned towards the ground, meaning sound from the those howling tiny props will wash directly over people below the plane. Not cool if the aircraft lands and takes off from within a city itself! So I would be cautious about that "5x lower" sound level claim - high frequency noise may attenuate faster than lower frequencies (which is likely how they creatively ended up with that "5x lower" estimation), but it will be far more unpleasant to listen to than the sound from large, slow-spinning props. Compare the nest-of-angry-hornets buzzing sound of a typical remote-controlled drone to the hum of a standard table fan, if you like. ;) So I would not want a bunch of Liliums flying around above my city, not the seven-seater and certainly not any future sixteen seater version either - and not just because of the occasional aircraft falling out of the sky and flattening whatever ends up below it, kids for example - but primarily for the noise. Other VTOL makers with their much larger props may be noisier in absolute terms, maybe (like I said, beware manufacturer's own numbers), but the sound profile is liable to be much less intrusive. By the way - ducted fans are indeed the prevalent form of propulsion these days, but not because they're inherently better - ducted fans are heavier and less efficient than free-spinning props. The ducts are necessary in case the engine throws part of or a whole fanblade, to contain any shrapnel so it does not shred the aircraft fuselage, damage sensitive systems, and potentially injure or kill any human beings within its path. That Lilium's fans are ducted suggests their RPM is extremely high (to the point where an uncontained fan failure might be dangerous), and noise - at least locally - will be quite unpleasant. Overall I have a hard time seeing these craft as anything but yet another unnecessary rich man's toy, the resources of their design and construction better spent on say, more public transport for the average person instead.

You may be right. This video shows the sound profile of Lilium jet upon landing kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZO3iZSpg5qCr7s. It sounds like a bunch of vacuum cleaners running. Not the most pleasant sound. I find Joby jet's sound profile to be more pleasant. Lilium stated that they will add acoustic liners to further improve the sound levels for the serial aircraft. Not sure if these would be enough to dampen the sound.

Nice simile, but also ridiculous hyperbole. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bneuaGyEaLmKe7M Sounds to me more like a strong wind in a forest, or the sound of a distant highway. I live under a flight path and I'd sooner hear the Lilium than the damn 747s going over. This was not a well done analysis. Virtually the whole video was about Lilium, with only a few references to the Joby and Archer. How do you make a fair comparison without doing that? Also, Lilium will only have 50% more seating- so how does that justify 100% more revenue? That does not make sense, especially because you state how unreliable those figures are... then use them to show how much better Lilium's financials are? And only 50% more revenue will be hard to make up that 100% more cost in the aircraft. For Intercity transportation, which I don't think these are for, the extra two seats would make that 50% more revenue possible. But for a taxi service in and around a single city, I doubt they are going to fill all 6 passenger seats very often, if they stick to their Air Taxi On Demand type of model. For an On Demand Taxi Service, you might only see 2 to 3 passengers on average for all three companies. There may be other models to pursue, to change this dynamic- but you don't bring up any of them! sigh! I have spent more time on this video than it deserves already. Good luck on your next one, however.

I think you misunderstood me. I never claimed that Lilium is any better than either Joby or Archer. In most my videos I say the following: 1) it is way too early to pick winners among eVTOL startups 2) financial projections are not reliable - there will be schedule delays and cost overruns 3) it is way too early to invest in eVTOLs 4) I am very bullish on eVTOLs in general, but not on any particular startup. I agree this video is not a very good eVTOL comparison. It is more of a review of Lilium. For better eVTOL comparison I suggest watching the following videos: Part 1 kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5OsimScZZqCqLs Part 2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3fYhniqaquNidk

I really like that Archer cut their enterprise value. That was strategically smart thing to do in this market. Thanks for watching!

Nice comparison. I predict all these companies will fail. Their product is too expensive and does not add enough value.

That is certainly a possibility. One that I disagree with. Thanks for watching Marc!

Lilium is nonsense, maybe a nice remote controlled drone without passengers or cargo.....5min flight time and 5 miles range at the max! No flights happening and no details available , as EDF not suitable for anything. Highest energy consumption with 350 kw necessary for lift off and landing and in flight the low lift will make safe landing impossible when the propulsion messes up. With the battery installed for 15 min flight there is no possibility to lift or fly passengers or cargo- what a nightmare!

I like Lilium but they have no cash they can’t even cover the liabilities for the year the funding is a concern Joby has 1.3 billion in cash they can use plus they have bigger investors closer to faa certification and the most experience
