The second Holy Form for sure. That's when he actually became entertaining and interesting. Stoic badass Lille, I couldn't get behind, but absolutely bonkers Tautological Templar Lille? I honestly love it, probably because watching zealots break down and go all ham is darkly entertaining. Continuing on that, I find his final form entertaining for much the same reason. He's a broken record who views all affronts against him as sin, and it's honestly satisfying to watch as he gets beat again and again.

Lille is definitely the most underrated among the Royal Guard. He has such a cool design and ability going for him, as well as what he represents thematically as blind devotion. He was probably the most loyal to Yhwach, perhaps even more than Haschwalth (who technically saved the Shinigami by helping Uryu). Absolutely looking forward his fight in the anime!

@@KingRoot-ie9qh Well, I meant in the sense that by transferring Uryu's wounds he inadvertently saved the Shinigami. If he was more loyal, he would have let Uryu die with his injuries, it it meant that Uryu would never reach Yhwach. Lille was more loyal in that way, since his every waking moment was a show of power and dedication to his king. It was also revealed in CFYOW that Jugram knew what would happen to both Yhwach and himself, and actively made the decision to die to the Auswahlen if he ever failed his role as the 'Balancer' (essentially, maintaining a sense of control and being rational). He also calls Uryu a test for himself by Yhwach. In addition, when he realized what would happen, he had his assistant rescue all the other remaining Quincy, including saving the lives of Giselle and Liltotto. His actions contradict his words a great deal, so we don't know if he intended to trick Yhwach or warn him with the dream- hopefully the anime will clarify.

It's not surprising that he looks so much different from his original form. He is the most powerful Quincy/ closet to god, it only makes sense that he would lose his original design. The same is true for AIZEN then he took on his final form, nothing like his original design but people overlook that.

To be perfectly frank, Lille was done perfectly. More than even Askin, who just does not die, Lille is the perfect representation of the quincies’ tenacity. More so than that, his various transformation continuing and continuing is honestly perfect. His sheer absurdity is precisely what kept everything interesting, and more than that, those pelican-owl creatures he turned into? I still liked that Kubo added that. It provides the reader with the fact that even if the Soldat are gone, the quincies’ attack is not over. With the weaker yet more numerous Lille, he becomes a threat to the Seireitei even more. Izuru’s revival, and perhaps the arrival of others into combat, can be the greatest example of the soul reapers continuing to defend the soul society, even while those in charge are gone. From Angel to fallen Angel, it would be an extremely epic fight to see animated, and even more than that, imagine how someone like this would be were he to manifest in hell. If Äs is the type to go mad, Lille would be the type to damn everyone around him while attempting to return to the side of the holy one he serves

I love how he and Gerard kind of are a perfect pair. They are total opposites of each other and yet both are Yhwachs personal guards. Gerard is loud, boisterous, impulsive. Lille is patient, stoic, observant, analytical. Gerard Gerard powers up by getting hit. Lille is able to become intangible. Gerard is unbelievably strong physically. Lille is a master sniper. Gerard is basically a God in human form. Lille is a human with the powers of a God.

16:38- I notice that unlike Tosen, who in spite of turning into a grotesque mammalian insect monster- he retains his human mouth and ultimately dies a Soul Reaper- with a pitiable sendoff that acknowledges the humanity of the character. With his mask attempting to hide that humanity for the sake of his perceived justice, especially the original eyes. To hide the conflict of fighting his former allies. In companion, Lille has his mouth immediately covered leaving his human Quincy origins behind. With his first transformation head feeling like a lazy attempt at a mask to appear human with the avian form being his true metaphorical self unleashed. And he gets stopped being treated as a character and more of a monster that is a bastardized version of an angel. And devolves into being an annoyance at the end. While Tosen hid behind the guise of monsters to cover his conflicted feelings, Lille has the pretenses of being human of stoic nature, but is exposed as the true, pretentious bird monster he is deep down.

He is essentially a modern soldier who will fit in perfectly in the mold of human armies, especially in terms of his cold practical sniper methodology that sharply contradicts the Shinigami's 'honorable' approach. Pick off target, move to the next. Give no chance.

The X-Axis is instant, and pierces through everything, so Infinity is useless against it. We even know the X-Axis can pierce spatial defenses because Lille's power was reflected back onto him and it ripped him apart.

I loved his designs and his battles against Nanao and Kyōraku, specifically during my first read. In my opinion, it's the best fight of the whole series, it's length, scope and climactic end, with me loving that it was Nanao through the support of Kyōraku, that ultimately brought down the greatest and most powerful of the Sternritter. My only gripe is that I wish it was the true end of Lille Barro and not Kira that finally killed him. PS it was also ironically one of the first fight that I've read in the manga, because I was skipping through the arc to found put what happened after the Fullbringers arc and it was this fight that stuck with me even though it been nearly been half a decade since I read it.😂

In my opinion, I find his falling from grace was perfect. Design wise its weird, but I find it poetic. As he unlocked more and more power, he seemed to get more prideful and consider himself above everyone. Once he has fallen and split in the flamingos he even claims "it is almost as if I have become a sinner myself" and "I don't need god's power to trample it into the ground". He is aware he has fallen and rather than reflect further he reaffirms his belief in himself and continues down his own path to destruction. Basically prideful archangel grows high and mighty, eventually considers himself "above" needing god's power and it leads to his own fall and destruction to those he once declared as sinners. I honestly think this was the intended outcome even if it feels like a waste for such a great character design. I feel some of the impact would have been taken away if he was simply absorbed by Yhwach. The fact that he was defeated by "sinners" after he fell was the better way to go.

6:06 my belief is that Ywhach gave Lille a schrift before Haschwalth wasn’t the gift Lille believed it to be, it was pragmatism, Ywhach didn’t know if a normal Quincy could survive the inscription, so he gave the first schrift to Lille to see if it could work, because unlike Haschwalth, Lille was replaceable.

It is NOT important and really doesn't need to be brought up yet despite that, I really *LOVE* how Tite Kubo designs and write the plethora of Black and the other diverse characters in Bleach. I'm not one who is shallow and screeches about how *everyone & everything* needs to look/sound/cater to me but it's just something I love in this series and is how I'd do it. With Bleach's characters, none of such surface-level BS is ham-fisted or even brought up. Awesome designs, cool powers, unique personalities, etc. Amazing how foreigners for the most part can do such a thing so much better than most western media nowadays.

Honestly Kubo is great with creating diverse casts without making them fall into classic stereotypes like some other series. I’ve seen some criticism that people have saying they don’t like how Tosen and Lille became these eldritch monsters at the end, but genuinely their transformations are both super thematic and have some of the wildest designs, so I think it’s worth some praise.

I think his final form looks kind of cool in some panels, when he's not warping his face around like a goofy cartoon character. As for the x-axis, the one thing that kind of irritates me about it is the "near death" gimmick. I think it's really weird that he can only use his intangibility when he's in a crisis situation. The idea is that it's a limitation to make it fair, but the way I see it, he's just being given a get out of jail free card everything he messes up in a fight. At the end of the day, he is rewarded with his transformation only after using plot armor 3 times.

hard to scale who would be the strongest of the elite sternritter as they were no joke and nearly impossible to kill. Gerard kept regenerating to no end and got stronger in the process that kenpachi with his new bankai couldn't finish the fight for his own reasons. Pernida was an opponent that required mayuri for prep. Askin had so many tricky abilities that a duo of Kisuke with his restructuring bankai to fit the battle to his advantage and grimmjow being a hollow took out his heart to catch him off guard. Lillie was on that same league that a literal plot sword is needed to reflect his attacks

Though I'd say that Naruto Shipp's kamui ability or MHA's permeation by Mirio are the best examples of how difficult this can be to deal with. I actually love his final form and think it did a lot to make Lille memorable and fun in my eyes. I just love how completely divorced from reality he is and how far he fell from grace. Lille's original design and personality never actually landed for me, especially since he appeared out of nowhere and because I find guys like that boring. However, as the transformations brought out the full extent of his zealotry, I really grew to like him, and at the end, he was chewing the scenery like mad, and I loved it. Dignity is meaningless, and a dignified end was s boring one. Maybe I like it so much because I love Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and specifically how off-the-rocker the Begnion Senate gets as the walls start closing in.

If you have to hazard a guess the reason why his power is different ,why it is sealed, and why he was the first are all one in the same. Yhwach probably invested too much power into him when he engraved his letter because the procedure was experimental. Considering the mutations chances are, it would have consumed him entirely if it wasn’t sealed.

I hope the anime discard the Shinken Hakkyoken and bestow that hereditary "god-killing-sword" status to Ukitake's Sōgyo no Kotowari. Ukitake can tell nano to take the sword to kyoraku in his dying breath, and maybe give the sword some back story related to soul king, the ise family and ukitakes family. Ukitake looks kind of priestly anyway and his sword can certainly fulfill the role of reflection.

I think the dispersing of his powers into smaller shard that can be defeated was an OK choice. What I would add, is seeing only the first few "feathers" spawning into the "flamingo's". Then have captains/vice captains order every shinigame still alive to target the falling feathers. A show a quick show off of creative abilities, with a giant explosion at the end to defeat him for good. Showing that no matter how mighty one might get, in the face of many, you can still be powerless.

If Shunsui's bankai successfully killed Lillie he would have died too. The only reason he lived was because it ultimately wasnt fatal. I assume this is the reason why it didnt finish him off as kubo wasnt prepared to kill off Shunsui like we saw with byakuya earlier in the arc

Its not rlly hard to understand. Lille was simply not showing his entire hand throughout the 0 division fight. He shot reishi bullets to test out how strong the his enemies and cage was. When he saw it wasn't gonna cut it, he started to use the X-Axis. When Oetsu nearly kills him for the 2nd time, he opens his eye. The question remains why he dint open his eye the 1st time he was sliced. Simple, he underestimated how BS Oetsu sword was. This is even stated in the anime where he goes like: "Theres seriously no way you pulled off one shotting Gerald, there has to be some trick to this". And then he gets instantly clapped, because he just dont know what was coming, which honestly make sense if you think about it. In order to use any defensive tactic you may have, you need to know what the hell your defending against in the 1st place.

Unless it's his standard form is used in the battle that hasn't been animated, perhaps his reishi bullets are part of his wings/halo, and he doesn't activate that in the original encounter,if it only takes a moment to activate, it's still 'always been his power' You would think he'd use it in any battle at this level, but people can be cocky

I always thought Gin would have been the perfect match up for Lille (good twist that he's alive). Lille is a sniper. Gins bankai is so fast it's like being shot. Lille is a God that can't be killed, Gins bankai is literally God Killing Spear. It's significantly better thematically than the ass pull paddle Shunsui had

I liked the idea of Lilles first transformation. He didnt necessarily need arms or legs to eliminate his target with beams of light and his newly acquired angel wings served to augment this. However he then gets hit by Shunsuis next acts which share wounds and give incurable disease. It is from this point onwards that his "box" like body as you call it started looking like a coffin. So when he lashed out it seemed like his next transformation was out of desperation and not a genuine need. If he was already a divine being, wasnt he essentially perfect? So to me it seems like his next transformations fell apart and was just Kubos shot at making some sort of biblical/eldritch monstrosity.

It makes sense for his reiatsu to be green AND his later forms be white/yellow. It clues further of his transformation and could be an explanation as to why his personality changes

Honestly, I think Lille being killed by Kira was the best way for him to to die. Imagine a fallen angel being made to bow to a new god. Probably the worst thing in Lille's eyes.

I think he has the drawback of only opening his eye in a crisis to balance out the extreme power of his ability. That gives an opponent an actual chance when facing him.

😅small tidbit. Kubo loves his gun characters. So much that bleach almost everyone's weapons were almost some type of firearm. That would have been quite nice seeing how lille and starkk made guns look badass in bleach.

Lille's initial transformations remind me of Penance from FFX, and Arceus from Pokemon. Both are fitting, considering what they're meant to represent relative to those games (and religion/mythology) as a whole.

Honestly i feel like Lille dying to the auchwalhen makes more sense than Gérard dying to it. If Lille died to the auchwalhen then it would kinda be like coming full circle, the quincy that was closest to yhwach and praised him the most was ultimately killed by him in the end.

I actually like all the elite guards battles. However it always felt that some minor adjustments could be made to improve them even more. What I find interesting about Lille is that he's not a hollow nor a piece of the soul king, so why does he become a chicken? How is that his true form? Even Aizen lost his transformation after taking mugetsu, and appeared as Aizen in the end. Lille is the only one who retains his new form after losing. There must be some reason for that. It's not clear to me if he had ever used that form to battle or if it was, I assume, his first time. So maybe he reached some point of no return in regard to his soul. I'm so curious how this souls transformation works. Also, what happens to Quincies when they die? Do they become soul particles and are absorbed or are they high concentrated reish so cannot be absorbed and must go to hell? Which got me thinking, what happened to Masaki's soul after all?? Is she in hell? Is she mixed with some hollow who absorbed her?

For me Lille barro is definetly stronger than yamamoto . Fire isn't a problem with blut vene 2 form of Lille make him intangible and has x-axis who can pass flame armor of yamamoto. My favourite design is the first without any transformation

Lille's first form reminds me of the angel Zeruel from Evangelion. Same shape and silhouette, and shoots powerful laserbeams.

The final ark is like a stew with incredible ingredients, but unfortunately it was too undercooked and leaves a bad taste in your mouth, Kobo was just too rushed.
