As someone from the same branch that "welders" are in, I can say you made the right choice. Plus, being a welder is only part of the job. The trade is Mat Tech. You also have to learn to sew, theres machining and body work. A general day will usually be filled by either making new picture frames for the chain of command, or performing general duties like "move that shelf again," or "clean up and organise that corner again." With the addition of all the identity politics, the powers that be, have seen fit to strip us of any "soldiering" identities because its toxic and replace it with blue haired, bilingual, career students that don't know how to dress themselves. Its not a good place to be right now.

At around that same time frame, I was jumping through all kinds of hoops to get in the CF, including getting a degree because they told me to. Then they just treated me like garbage in the recruitment office, basically threw my university transcripts in the garbage right in front of me while demanding highschool transcripts, then a female captain spent an hour screaming at me like a lunatic during the "job interview", claiming that there was no place for me. I just walked out after suffering through her insufferable tantrum. They were so desperate to fill the role that I kept applying for that they were even begging for applicants on Craigslist, no word of a lie. But I knew they were following some kind of agenda, people called me crazy at the time, and it turned out exactly as I described it.

The military was predicated on discipline, structure, uniformity and the government has chosen to placate people with woke ideology. And what do you mean about having ones feelings validated? Receiving respect and fair treatment is one thing but catering to everyones feelings and sensitivities...please. Why do we allow Trudeau to continue to make fools of us?
@richardshort39148 ай бұрын
I have pondered this from the beginning and am of the opinion that: 1. The traditional rivals of the Liberals (the Conservatives) ran very weak (I am being polite here) candidates. During the elections Conservative polices became indistinguishable from those of Mr Trudeau, This did not provide a clear alternative, resulting in a "better the devil you know" ballot decision. 2. As a Prime Minister, the Liberal Party itself could replace him without triggering an election. (For example, since Boris Johnson was elected Prime Minister in 2019, the UK has had both Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak assume the role without resort to the polls.) Therefore, I feel the reason Mr Trudeau has not been replaced by his own party is a general lack of courage and integrity of Liberal MPs and an overwhelming desire to retain personal power, regardless the harm he does to the nation. So: 1. Lack of a competent, distinct alternative on the part of the Conservatives (who, incidentally, thwarted their best challenger, Maxime Bernier's bid for leadership by underhanded means); and 2. A Liberal Party overwhelmingly comprised of spineless, self-serving sycophants. Ultimately, though, we have allowed this to happen and have no one to blame but ourselves.

So in other words, the fighting capacity of the Canadian Armed Forces has been reduced? Made weaker, in the name of "social justice". Are countries like China, Iran, North Korea and Russia following this same path? I am going to guess that they are not.

As a man i prefer pads over tampons. Pads make good field dressing and you can put them in your armpits to prevent sweat stains. Not sure what i do with a tampon, nose bleeds maybe.

The Armed Forces are there to protect Canadians and our interests from those in the world who would do us harm. Members need to be physically capable to defend themselves and others as well as be able to maintain themselves and survive austere environments and the violence of combat. In short worrying about patriarchy and social justice will not prepare them for what they may be called upon to do for us so we don’t have to.

I served proudly with a variety of other volunteers, we all sweated, sometimes bleed and sucked up the pain in a variety of training exercises and courses, we all had each others backs as we walked through hostile landscapes together, we all laughed and shared a cold one when we could, and shared a tear and head hung moment when thinking of brothers and sisters gone before us; It was my honour and privilege to serve with them regardless of age, colour, religion, background; it just didn't matter, and we stood together for our country and freedom; I cannot see that reflected in todays army...Pro Patria! Airborne!

ok fair point, guess you are? or have served? My point was more that we were all treated equally, race was never 'interrogated', nor was gender, if you could do the job good, if not, find another job, pretty simple; and examine family support under an umbrella of patriarchy is insulting to all family and friends who support or supported serving members, no?@@petercullen1624

When I was a kid I wanted to join the Air Force. I was a proud patriotic young Canadian. I decided not to, after I found out how little flying I would do and how much desk time I would have. Not to mention the Sea Kings were falling out of the sky, our demonstration team had been grounded because we are still using clapped out jets from the. 60 's and there was no support. So, I became a pilot in the public sector. I live with some regret. But, it's also due in part to our govt. There just isn't a career there for a young person who wants to fly.

I am a Canadian female. I was "labeled female over 60 years ago based on my anatomy. I am still a Canadian female all these years later. Not once were there ever government issue tampons supplied in any public washrooms I ever used. I recall a few public restooms having a vending machine type thing that might dispense a tampon for a dime or quarter or two. How absolutely foolish is it that I as a senior should have to contribute tax dollars to supply tax funds for tampons on a mens bathroom? Healthcare is in a pathetic state in Canada, housing, millions are overdosing and litterally dying due to pharmacuetical medications..... not a wonder some folks are so confused they can not decide which gender requires use of a "free" tampon! If a gender confused individual discovers a need for a tampon let him purchase and supply his own! Just like us all us girls have done for hundreds of years.
