This is the first time we've ever made the video of the song much bigger that the pair of us. I'm not sure I'll do this very often as it seems like it could be a recipe to get your video blocked. Our blocked list now total 6 videos.

That old black and white film footage of those girls looking through all the records in the store, I love it, I remember we used to do the same in Woolies in the 80s on our lunch break from school, flipping through all the record covers, those were the days guys 😊

Wow Diana Ross has a fantastic voice, one of the best voices in the music Industry, that motown beat is brilliant with the orchestra as well. First Supremes song I ever heard was In and Out of Love in the 80s on a compilation cassette tape and I loved it. I like every Diana Ross song I've heard, there's not one I don't like. Great reaction Steve and Lilly and more Diana Ross would be awesome 🎵🎵🎸🎸🎹🎹🎵🎵

@@Lilly8Listens Awww you are welcome Steve 😊👍 I remember your first reaction was to Abba Dont Shut Me Down, when Abba were making their comeback with the new album. I remember watching loads of reaction videos to the new Abba songs and that's how I found your channel. I love your channel, it's more unique compared to the other reaction channels who normally just react to random big mega hits, whereas you are letting Lilly hear all the music that you like and I love that. You have great taste in music. I was watching your reaction video to Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd with my son the other day and we both really enjoyed your reaction to that. The first time I heard that song years ago I wasn't too keen on it but then when I watched your video I found it really relaxing to listen to and I really love the guitars in it and it certainly has grown on me 👍

Also I am so glad that you played this song as its a rarity in UK, I found out just now! Did not even chart, so sad! However, it did hit top 5 in US and Canada so that's awsome! Also, I kind of wish that the Supremes had more than one number one hit record in UK (they just had "Baby love")! Over here in North America, for the US folks the Supremes dominated the charts and placed 12 number one hit records there only beaten by the Beatles!
@Lilly8Listens Жыл бұрын
The Supremes did very well over here too William, but remember, we had The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones dominating our charts before America had even heard of them. So my point is, the opposition might have been tough. Now I know you know your old music, but let me tell you something. My favourite song by Diana Ross is I'm Still Waiting, it reached number one here in the UK in 1971 and stayed there for 4 weeks. This was after legendary British DJ Tony Blackburn, kept playing it on his breakfast radio show, he also persuaded EMI to release it as a single and the rest is history. I think it made number 63 in the US charts, so that's a fantastic song the Americans seem to have missed out on. Am I going to show it to Lilly? you can bet your life on it.😀😀

@@Lilly8Listens Of course do it! I know that song! I follow her solo single so when I saw Number one in UK I listened to it! First listen was back in 2021 in high school! I use to be obsessed with the Supremes and Diana Ross and would pick up any top 40 singles which included the UK. That is basically how I gotten obsessed with the 60s as I would then pick up other Motown hits by other artists and eventually learning almost every top ten hit in America and Canada (Cliff Richard and other UK artist came a few months later when my grandparents recommended me these artist as they were from British Hong Kong)!
@williamfunggoldenoldiesfan6758 Жыл бұрын
Also one more thing! When I was around grade 9, I use to be obsessed with late 70s artist in particular the Bee Gees! My grandparents loved them and enjoyed me singing all of the hit song back in the late 70s! Also I use to think the mid to late 70s was a better time period for music than the 60s! Then I expanded to the early 70s and mid 70s as well! At that time, the number of songs I know from the 60s was about 220 (now its about 1000) but the 70s I know over 500 songs! My grandparents were the ones that introduced me to the Supremes to try to prove a point that the 60s was a "slight touch" better compared to the 70s! They told me the 70s is one of the best decades of music of all time but only the 60s beats this decade by a slight margin! The difference is so subtle and my grandparents told me that the only thing that caused a slight problem is the speed of songs in general in the 70s (Some of the disco and some of the other pop songs)! When the speed is too fast, the sounds and effectiveness of the instrumentation begin to decrease and they felt that the speed was a slight touch fast! They told me that imagine if a group of people sang "Happy Birthday to you" with the piano and they sang the song a little bit on the fast side. They told me that the accompaniment of the piano is a little less effective as you don't really hear each note that clearly! Which is thus why the 60s beat the 70s! Therefore I followed the advise of my grandparents and they were indeed correct!

Also there is a fabulous song by the Monkees called Pleasant Valley Sunday! This is I think worth the reaction! Also the person who wrote this song is none other than the songwriting genius Carole King! So both artist who sings the song and the person who wrote the song are both famous!

I just watched an interview of the guess who and I found out that American Woman was written by accident! They said that one of the band members string broke so they tune it with the piano. That member started strumming the opening rift by accident to American Women to try to tune the string correctly to the piano! Once he is done, he started showcasing the rift to the other band members and they got themselves a hit just like that! The lyrics were literally sung also by “random” which in other words meant that whatever words or lyrics came to the lead singers head, he sings out loud! Which was American woman get away from me… Also this was done LIVE to a small audience! What’s ridiculous was that the motif of the song was forgotten when they came into the studio! However a small boy was the savior as he literally recorded the entire song that they accidentally composed onto a primitive cassette tape! He then delivered it to the recording studio and then the rest was history!

That instrument that Lily was hearing in the background isn't a flute, nor is it a trumpet. Rather, it's a saxophone, played by Mike Terry. The other two members of The Supremes at the time were Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson, both of whom are deceased.
