I have taught high school science for 40 years and retired this past May. The last 10 minutes of my last day my anatomy class (14 students) and I were going to put this video up on the big screen in my room and rock out. Well, ended up with about 100+ high school students in my room all jammin’ it!! What a rush and what an awesome way to cap off 40 years with students!! We don't give a shit if tattoos are in or out. 😉 We're rockers, we're metalheads and we do what WE want. When Floor joined Nightwish 10 years ago, she didn't have tattoos. They have come with the years. As far as I know, they all have meaning. They're not there because it was or is fashionable. Floor, for example, has one behind each ear. A wolf and a dog. The dog stands for the home and the wolf for the stage. The tattoos remind her to keep balance between both worlds.

As someone who grew up in the 80's and 90's I stopped actively listening to popular music. Nightwish brought back the joy and great experience of awesome music. Love them so much 😊 I would love to go to their concert just to meet the fans because they are a happy folk 😊

I'm a 70 year old recent recruit to the Nightwish Army, it's such a pleasure to hear music that's so life-affirming - and this one just makes me well up with tears of joy. If you want to hear some other bands that also give you a lift and re-affirm that good music is alive and kicking - check out The Warning - their song Evolve, the performance at the VMA,s - three unbelievably talented young women from Mexico who prove that Rock and Roll will indeed never die, but can grow and change and stay modern. And listen to Lovebites - a female metal band from Japan, who are just so good that words fail me, listen to any track at all, but Holy War is a good starter . . . Keep on finding the music that makes you smile!

Hi Lilly Jane, so nice to see you back with Nightwish....When my wife and I went to the Nightwish concert in New York we were both 78, my wife was not a fan of Metal, but during and after she said this is the best concert I've ever been to, she also said Floor's voice was the best she has ever heard, and it is very hard to take your eyes off Floor while she is performing....Great reaction as always, Bob from New Jersey....

Hello again Lilly Jane. You are not loosing your noodle. Check out Marko at the 4:01 mark in your video when they are singing "Wake up Dead Boy" Marko points directly back at Tuomas. Question answered. As for Floor's tatoos, she did not have any at the Wacken Open Air 2013 festival. But when she became engaged and then married to Hannes Van Dahl (Sabaton drummer), she began getting the tattoos. Of course, Hannes is heavily tattooed. Yes, the Nightwish Army is one of the most welcoming and friendly you will ever encounter. Carol, my wife of 42 years, and I had the great pleasure of traveling from Phoenix to San Francisco to see them perform live at the historic Warfield Theatre on May 18, 2022. Even standing in the long line outside the theatre as we were waiting to be admitted, everyone was having such a great time. What an incredible experience and a wonderful show. Hmmm. The one Nightwish song that gets me so pumped up I could take on anything. I can't boil it down to one. So many of their songs and performances get my adrenaline flowing like crazy. This is certainly one of them as are, Dark Chest of Wonders, Bless the Child, Storytime, Endless Forms Most Beautiful, Yours is an Empty Hope, Amaranth... and on and on and on.

whenever you hear "dead boy" or "ocean soul" in a lyric Tuomas is talking about himself.... notice here that when he said dead boy in this song Marco even pointed to Tuomas. Also, Floor had no tattoos in 2013 at the Wacken concert we all know so well.... then she met Hannes... the Owl on her shoulder is one of the best tatts I have ever seen.

You're right about the fans being a happy bunch. Everyone I met at the Minneapolis concert were super friendly. Also, I noticed when you stopped the video to comment about how the fans seem to be having so much fun, Tuomas and Floor were sharing a smile between them right at that moment, There were several instances in this video where band members were smiling and pointing out into the audience - and this is the last (or one of the last) song of the concert. What energy!! You can't fake that kind of happiness just for the show. They are genuinely enjoying themselves. Great review, as always!

You totally got the meaning of this song. Tuomas uses the metaphor Dead Boy in quite a few songs. it can refer to someone who has lost their innocence or zest for life. Emotionless, joyless, and stunted by the reality of life in all of its negativity and cruelty. This is one of my favorites LJ! It is very difficult to choose one song. Hope you are dong great!

Nightwish in my opinion is by far the best band both in studio and live ever! they are number 1 on mu bucket list for bands I need to see! One can never go wrong reacting to NIghtwish, they never disappoint. Might I also add there is no one like Floor in any genre on this planet! This song has one of my favourite lines of all time: “it’s hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead”. My mantra for life. If life throws you shit you can sit there and grumble about it or you can try to find a solution/make the best of it. About Floor's tattoos, well, She had tattoos before Nightwish (Ω symbol as an emblem for her second band Revamp, she has the symbol tattooed on her wrist)!!!! The owl and flower sleeve came after joining Nightwish. Plus, the Human :II: Nature tattoo on her leg. SO, my go too Nightwish song is usually Nightwish 😉. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

One interesting fact about the album this song was on, called"Imaginaerum" is that it's a concept album, that is a companion piece to a movie that was written byTuomas, and the members of Nightwish all had cameos in it. Worth checking out! This was before Floor was in the band. She joined halfway into the tour that was supporting the album. also tattoos rule. Especially on women. Don't let the haters hate.

One way to look at it is that the songs reference each other. "Wake up Dead Boy" --> Dead Boy's Poem which in itself references to "the garden" which is a reference to The Garden of Gethsemane Also in the same sentence "adventure land" --> Storytime When your trying to push those singles out, it for sure is smart to make them reference each other. Kind of an add in your song to promote the other song ;-) Another way of looking at is is to say that these are themes and that interest Tuomas and he developed his own "Tuomas-slang" when talking about those themes. Well known Tuomas-slang words are: The Child --> the band The Poet --> Tuomas (as a songwriter) Ocean Soul --> Tuomas Lonely Soul / Nemo --> Tuomas before he met his wife Dead Boy --> Tuomas as a(n innocent) child Siren --> irresistible draw to create music Death --> profound moment in time after which you will never be the same person as you were before. (the old Tuomas is no longer there, therefor he is dead) Now that you know this...read the lyrics of Ghost Love Score again and keep in your mind that it is on the first album Tuomas wrote after Tarja announced she would (eventually) leave the band. It gives a whole new meaning to the song.

I don't think there's a thing like "tattoos are not cool anymore", and they don't define a metalhead for example, Tuomas is very much a metalhead and he has none. When it comes with tattoos, is just a personal decision, some people like them, some don't, there's not such a thing as a tattoo "hype", as far as I know. Which NW song keeps me going? All of them, none in particular. Everything Tuomas writes melts my heart, warms my soul, and gives me the strength to continue going forward.

I am a lot older than most on here (58), and I can remember a time during the 90's in the UK, when as an employer, the staff handbook to which I had to refer to, actively dissuaded all Managers from offering employmen to anyone who had a tattoo on display. I am talking about men in this instance, and tattoo's that were on the face or neck was an instant "NO". Ink on the arms was a diferent matter however, and as long as a cuff would cover the tattoo, we did have discretion. Times have changed of course, but it has informed my own opinion about tattoo's. Personally, on a woman I like a tattoo to be discrete, and only visible in a social setting. For me, as a rule of thumb, I prefer a tattoo that is only visible when a piece of clothing is removed. It is difficult to maintain this view when pop stars and sportsmen wear them so openly. I do think that it all depends on your career choice, but there is no right or wrong answer, merely individual opinion. Take care Lilly.

"Dead Boy" is Tuomas' recurring theme in many Nightwish songs. It refers to the "End of innocence" (there was also a Nightwish documentary with this name) - that sincere and positive perception of the world around us in our childhood, which we gradually lose as adults and which is so important to try not to lose completely in ourselves. Tuomas sometimes refers in his songs to lines from the previous ones. For example, in the song "How's the Heart?" from their latest album there are lines: "We met where the cliff greets the sea Shared a story, took the leap Rose up rooted, hid a note You know where You've been there" which refer to the words from the song "Élan" from the penultimate album: "Come, surf the clouds Race the dark It feeds from the runs undone Meet me where the cliff greets the sea"

I will be looking at the rest of your videos as soon as possible. May I suggest another band for you to try, “The Warning” formed in 2013 by the Villarreal Vélez sisters. They are a great live band that has opened for Muse, Halestorm, Guns and Roses, and The Foo Fighters. Metallica invited them to cover Enter Sandman for their Blacklist album and made it the #1 song on the album. Any song from the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 08/29/2022 concert would be a great start, I love Animosity and for an acoustic try Revenant. Thank you.

Such a debate these days about Tattoos. They can be addictive, some have a few, some meaningful, some just for fun, some are downright stupid or horrible or random?. Some people cover there whole body, some traditional or ceramonial, some part of their belief. I spent 20 years martial arts training plus had a passion for fantasy and Dragons so i got two on my chest each dragon represents an element one water one fire both facing in battle their flames forming the Yin and Yang shrouded in smoke. Dragons also represent wisdom because of there age and power because of there strength. That's my story on why i have Tatoos but everyone is different and yeah there probably to many people with Tatts perhaps it is a time for change i just imagine at a retirement home how many old people with saggy wrinkly ink hanging looking warped or deformed?. But it's about what you enjoy now and not everyone will live to that age anyway.

I dont have any tatoos, I dont have anything against them, my GF have 4 of them. But for me, they should mean something, and I havent figured out what what I should get, so instead of just getting a random tatoo I have chosen not to get one. I dont know if I get some later on, but not for now. As for others I couldn't care less, just as I couldn't care less about how your hairstyre is, or if you have a beard or not, some Tattoos looks better than others IMO, but they are not on my so why would I care. Also I've been listening to Metal since the early 90's so I've been around people who have Tatoos for a very long time.

Abt them tats.. Pre-Hannes Floor was untatted, liked her better that way. Trying to be cool or fashionable is about as banal as most of the stories you get treated to when tatted-ups explain the "symbolism" behind theirs. All personal pref oc and obviously tattoos are not my cup of 🍵 That said, and more importantly, there's also a lingering health issue associated w/ the inks used and their possible carcinogenicity. There's info citing a "small risk", and then there's recent studies that sound a bit more alarming, e.g. "New study finds that almost half of tattoo inks contain chemicals that can cause cancer". Too many ifs & buts, but to each their own oc. Enjoy the rest of your NW ride. My suggestion would be to check out "7 Days.." live at Wembley. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

Yeah about tattoos, they used to be a bit special but seems like majority of the youth have them so not really so special anymore :) Never had a thought of having one and never will I guess... waste of money. Not sure if I get any kicks looking at them in the mirror and I don't care what other people think about how I look or what I wear etc. so that bonus doesn't matter for me.

I'm not against tatoos, but I feel everyone and their dog has them now. When things become normal its less interesting. And having no tatoos is now the 'different thing' Do what you want, I am not for it nor against it, but I do feel people get tatoos because its trendy to have them.

Don't know what gen Z and A think about tattoos. As a millenial i'm firm in the opinion that they can be cool, depends what they are. And for anyone with a "normal job" they should be kept to arms and legs easily covered up when dressed for a business meeting.
