Sadly they liked to dress her up in these gowns, something she hated to do. She would rather be on her drum set, which she also ranked highly at along with her amazing voice.

Best oldies artist of all time? Ohh, my dear, that is a task even Hercules would fail at attempting. An impossible errand. The 70's were FULL of the Best.

Poor Karen, she left this world in such a terrible way, she suffered mentally and you could feel it in her songs - on an upside, she was a terrific drummer.

I love to watch people's faces the first time they hear Karen Carpenter. But as you've noticed, a big part of it is Richard Carpenter's arrangements and the multitracking of the vocal parts. He's a brilliant arranger.

Ohhhhhh, that voice. So sweet and smooth. I grew up listening to the Carpenters. And she was a criminally underrated drummer. For a slightly different vibe, check out Attention Occupants of Interplanetary Craft.

Fun fact: Karen Carpenter was not real! Nobody could possibly be that talented, sweet and beautiful! I believe that she was a magical being divinely sent to us mere mortals to soothe our tortured souls. This was her gift! RIP Drummergirl

You have given us an impossible task my dear friend. I cant even pick my favorite song in any given year, let alone my favorite of all-time. For me, my favorite is so related to my given mood. I am a Beatles kid 100%, so there's that library. Most of my teen years were in the 70s so i have an incredible library from that decade. I mean, look at my screen name...lol. I like southern rock, blues, jazz, older country (pre 90s), rock, hard rock, soft rock, alternative, some metal if its older. Ill just say that in my opinion the best music was made from early 60s to late 70s, without adding in a lot of the disco stuff. But there is music from the 40s that i really like (ex. Andrews Sisters), the 50s sock hop music, the 80s (ex. U2/Bryan Adams/Journey), the 90s even has some good stuff. Anything post 2000 and it starts getting kind of bad to me. I like singer songwriters and true musicians, i dont like sampled and contrived stuff with fake vocals and AI produced "music". Im old, i get that, but like Bob Seger loves to say.... " todays music aint got the same soul". Love your reaction here and i highly recommend you dive deeper into the Carpenters, and what most would say is the greatest female voice ever. My favorite bands though: Beatles, Pink Floyd, Boston, Journey, U2, the Eagles, Led Zepplin, Dr Hook, and The Allman Bros Band etc etc etc.....

One of the best female singers is Eva Cassidy from the early 90's, a local artist in DC, that recently passed away. It was not until after her death that her talent became known worldwide and received amazing acclaim. You must listen to her live rendition of Over the Rainbow from Wizard of Oz. It is just stunning! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKPHaYmhqblrrrs&pp=ygUcZXZhIGNhc3NpZHkgb3ZlciB0aGUgcmFpbmJvdw%3D%3D

@kevinmcconnell364123 минут бұрын
Thank you for the IMO;) Being the contrarian I am I just can’t let a GOAT claim go by without comment, kinda sorta mostly. The KSM being Jimi Hendrix! I don’t call him the goat for what he accomplished in his three albums and 27 years on this planet, but instead because of all the music Jimi didn’t have the opportunity to bless us with. How great would he have been, and the size of his catalog;(

I don't think an "all-time" favorite song exists because as you have learned during your reviews that each artist is "greatest of all time". The individual talent and uniqueness of everyone you have reviewed has impacted you uniquely in each of their songs. Karen was just a gift, just like the others. You are a gift by being vulnerable and revealing just how skillful these people were and sharing that vulnerability with others. Your reviews and reactions give hope to other generations that the artists talents will live on. I think angels are all around us doing amazing things to remind us of how great our God is. No harm to enjoy the music of today, but never forget yesterday.
