Yes because that dudes family and the system’s inability to take his downward spiral seriously affected the safety of her kids. As moms we absolutely need to feel our kids are safe. Actually, if all the things we can’t control, the one thing a parent normally feels like we can do is keep our kids safe from harm. This man robbed her of that ability. But she also knows he can’t even help it. Which makes it MORE terrifying. Tormenting. Bc no one else will do anything for her that gets him to stop. The guy is schizophrenic. He can’t control his delusions and she knows this from her interactions with him. He is certain of his delusions. With a non-delusional stalker; you could have the possibility they would “get it” with logic and reasoning and stop their actions. Delusional stalkers can’t do that on their own. They need medication and therapy. She knows this and empathizes because of that. The entire thing is just sad and also endlessly terrifying for the target. She is speaking my life and does it better than I could ever articulate anything. ❤️

Its quite ironic isnt it? Although she was unfairly and horrifically plagued by a mentally ill strangers problems, they were both failed by institutions we are taught to turn to in desperate times. When you are having bad thoughts, or can't cope with yourself, or your life is too overwhelming and you want to hurt yourself and others, you're taught from childhood to talk to a professional or someone you trust who can get you professional help. On the other side of this, we are taught from day 1 (in American schools anyways) to turn to the police in any moment of danger or in most moments when youre in need of certain type's of assistance. Fuck, prior to all the police shootings our parents were taught to call the police so they can SAFELY transport a mentally ill person whos having a fit to a "safe" mental institution!! Instead, here they show up and shoot some poor families schizo-affective child in front of them. Almost as if punishment for their poor mother calling in a desperate attempt to get her baby some help, for making them look at such an "atrocity". Makes me sick for the poor mem/women like Lily who have to endure the secondary negative affects of failed mental health systems. If all people plagued by mental illness didn't get help, the world would be an even scarier place than it already is.

Yeah it's weird think really think about it, "I wrote the fear" meaning like he's the reason for her feeling this internalised fear for this threat of him, and he's the creator of this "fear". Also " where's my money" meaning he wants the recognition and compensation for his work and that he was angry about it, foreshadowing his aggressive tendencies. Creepy.

It is disgusting how much she had to practically harass the police just for them to do their damn job! It's like they didn't care AT ALL if something happened to her or the children living in her house with her! He literally broke into her room and told police he was going to stab her to death, but STILL they didn't put him on trial right there?! How in the fuck does this shit happen? I'm disgusted. Absolutely disgusted. You are a strong, brave woman Lily for hanging in there through all that hell.

Not to mention theres a whole anti-police and anti-punishment mentality in society these days, The cops are reluctant to charge people who are obviously mentally ill. The charges are not likely to succeed in court and the mentally ill person will usually be let off anyway.

I feel like the police is failing women. Stalking cases fail, rape cases fail, cases of violence against women fail. These people DID NOT BELIEVE her that she did not know her stalker, they probably thought she didn't want to tell her partner about this weird guy she once dated. Aka just a crazy woman.
@brandyb2931
@brandyb2931 6 жыл бұрын
Trix Women are not the only people who are affected by stalkers. This chick broke into Brad Pitts home once and actually put his clothes on and climbed into his bed waiting for him. Another guy was sentenced to prison for stalking and trying to stab Ryan Seacrest. Unfortunatly as a person who is in the spotlight lots of crazies come out and people become obsessed. The thing with people like her is they have security to protect them and unfortunately there are millions of men and women who are not famous and do not have security that are stalked and they have nobody to protect them because as you can see in her case, the police are useless until they actually do something.

Yt2doubleo7 She earned her fame and has shown no signs of entitlement. Everyone goes through things in life, but not many of us can say someone with a mental illness wanted to murder us around our children. Your comment reflects only yourself and your own mind, not the state of Lily Allen's. In fact your comment comes across as nothing but a childish response to someone with more money and notoriety than you, an act of jealousy. Being famous isn't such a paradise that you have no right to feel or go through tragedy. In reality a lot of famous people kill themselves, whether intentionally or through drug abuse and alcoholism...or fall victim to depression. It doesn't necessarily give you a happier life than a poor man. Even if it did, who are you to say another human being should keep quiet about their stalker and accept the end of their own life...just because they spent some time in the public eye? What a terrible take on the world to have.

Its not that hard to believe he clearly wasnt that threatening at the time and if he sounded intelligent in his rant to her her friend could think it was legit. I would think that people as famous as her have a double life anyway. Like Bill Cosby or Kevin Spacey and who knows how many more. Her male friend was probably her lover? which is why the police could think the stalker was some guy she knew and she was trying to hide from the media and her husband/family? There isnt enough information.

Its sad and scary that at this time, with all the knowledge that we have and the situations we 've been confronted with in this world, the police or the system still does not feel the need to take every case as serious as the other, because obviously, as we saw in this case, there's always more to it, than what meets the eye. I hope Lily is well now and that she can feel save again, not just for her sake, but for the sake of her children. Lily, what an amazing person you are. I'm in tears. Shame on the UK health system, shame on how the police and CPS handled this (I can only imagine how sick you must have felt on receiving the letter "showing concern" after your interview with The Observer). Thank God you and your family came out of this unharmed... I hope you are ok now, and that things have been made easier as a result for people who are being stalked. Sadly, I fear the help isn't there for those who really need psychiatric help thanks to even more financial blows to an NHS already on its knees.
@mynamestumbleine
@mynamestumbleine 5 жыл бұрын
More money for NHS ? If you want to know what psychiatry is like you should watch again "One Flew over a cuckoo's Nest". I'm not even joking. They killed my girlfriend with so-called "new generation" anti-psychotics. In plain English these drugs are just numbing the person, turning them into vegetables. Girlfriend killed herself after psychiatric "care" in hospital in France. Psychotics can be very scary sometimes but we should NOT trust science to heal them. I also worked with disturbed children and as lame as it sounds, they need love, not drugs. It's very hard though to know what to do as a society, more and more individualistic.

@@mynamestumbleine I don't think the commenter was advocating simply "more drugs"or containment without care or therapy and proper support.I think what they were sayong is that proper psychiatric support that actually helps people and deals with the issues are rarely available . Yes I agree that One flew over the Cuckoos nest is a closer to accurate representation of what the mental health system is like and I also agree that community and wrap around holistic services are what people often need and yes sometimes containment via meds and being in a contained space if a ongping risk or danger. There is not enough money out into mental health care but also a lack of adequate care that doesn't involved just drugs.

Lily obviously has a very compassionate nature as evidenced by her involvement in highlighting the problems for immigrants in Calais - but then she gets lambasted by the British Press for having an opinion, for having money - usual stuff, put it away, champagne socialist, keep doing the songs, who does she think she is, ad infinitum. Sometimes you have to peel away the layers of disinformation and see someone for the heart they have.

She's right though, he can't help it - schizophrenia is a terrible thing to leave untreated. I'm glad she came forward with this as it highlights a lot of issues in our society with regards to not taking stalking seriously but also a severe lack of support for the mentally ill; a lot of whom end up in prison as criminals and their conditions just get worse. Those people end up released back into society worse off than when they went in - it's a vicious cycle and solves nothing.

Stalking is a notoriously hard thing to convict someone for. They're also severely lacking information about what the hell to do. Saying that this was hugely bungled. Also you must tell others about stalking and any possible dangers.Its the reason women disappear into thin air abducted by men they don't know about. Thankyou for shining a light where it needs to be. Thankyou for looking into this legally and this will actually encourage women to come forward, I agree with the statement the email is victim shaming. When you look at the science of stalking the little we know. You will find it's extremely dangerous. Confusing for the victim, a actual horror story plot in real life and to be taken extremely seriously. Also everything needs to be documented to the max. Both you and the police should have copies of documents until the matter is completely resolved. And it will never be resolved with just restraining orders.

I'm really impressed with how Lily has handled this and the grace she has about the person who stalked her. I hope she recovers her wellbeing and freedom. This poor woman has symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder from her ordeal. Anything about the lack of response from the police could likely be a trigger for her (as evidenced in her crying at the particular time she broke down in the interview). The PTSD is caused by her life being threatened & the helplessness she was left with because she ultimately didn't feel she could trust the very people who should keep her safe to do the right thing. Sadly this trauma could remain with her for life. Had the police done more to make her feel safe this may not have happened to her.

She showed a lot of emotional strength + intelligence during this interview. I feel her intense empathy towards the perpetrator. People who have struggled with mental health and have lost control of their lives know how terrifying it is. The perpetrator was failed for decades. This is the result of multiple systemic failures. Lily is a victim. But the perpetrator is a victim of something else. Schizophrenia ruins lives. And the sufferer has zero guilt in what happens. They cannot control their actions. This video is deep.. I have done my fair share of stalking women for being an incompetent suitor. Stalking harms your mind and leads to all kinds of illness and troubles with you. Listening to this woman's story I really feel ashamed of myself for making other women feel uncomfortable and unsafe but I never went far as to plotting on women. My story was about myself not accepting rejection from the friendships with these women I stalked and bothered. I havent got therapy for this but I have been keeping my mind busy and focusing on my own image and my own personality. To all the women I have stalked about only 3 in my life, I hope you would forgive me for my heinous acts and for my insecurities for not accepting "no" for an answer. The current situation with a woman named Monica, I am sorry for slandering your name at our job. I don't deserve forgiveness from Monica. She was a sweetheart and very kind. She blocked me and I couldn't help control my anger and resentment towards her for doing that to me. I'm a laughing stock of my job, and I'm just gonna have to say it is what it is and work harder on myself and let go of Monica. I hope anyone whose a stalker right now and doing harm to anyone, take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror. What would happen if your family or friends got stalked. Please get all the help professionally for yourself and workout, be stronger, enjoy the things in life, don't let your emotions and fantasies take over your life. I learned the hard way after Monica told the manager on me at my job. I'm gonna focus on myself and better myself for my life and my family, I hope you as a stalker would do that for me. Thank you for reading!

She's a very courgeous and strong person, even through her fear, and the fact she has sympathy for her stalker is admirable. And it makes me unhappy that there was so little done to help her, until it became far too obvious that he was dangerous. We still have a long way to go when addressing this kind of thing.
