I think the best thing about Marcello is this quite confidence. He goes for it, and not to just get her as a trophy, but because she is truly what he wanted. Able to commit, emotionally available. Me too! Let's just keep aside the fact that he is plain boring. From season one Gabriel was always been passive in the relationship. Emily kissed him first, and he was like... Alrighty! Then she opened up about her feelings and he was like, I do too! Then she asked for exclusivity, and he was alright then. And then finally they slept together and again, it's she who went to him. The only time he did something when he was single and she was with Mathew. Still so passive. Then she went to him and he got back with Camille. Then it took Camille to have the back bone to them to be an official couple. And even then he was passive. I never met such a boring male lead in any tv shows. Mr. Big was toxic but that man knew what he was doing. This guy has 'whatever' plastered on his face. But I'm sure they are going to do some narcissistic bullshit on Marcello in the coming seasons and make people to root for Gabriel again🙄

I love Emily & Gabriel together, so I cannot wait for a Season 5! I personally found Alfie and Emily cringey together, so I am glad it ended! But I also didn't expect to love Marcello so much, and his name is so cute!?! Unlike most comments, I hope Gabriel is end-game despite everything. But I want him to go through a character arc or shift, and start fighting for Emily more. It would be nice if he went through a deep realisation about all the things Emily has done for him, not just the Michelin star she fought so hard for him to get, but just being there for him emotionally. I believe they have a true love connection, and have been through so much together that it would be a shame to waste it. But introducing Marcello was a genius move because it seems like it'll make him realise that he hasn't been in the relationship 100%. It seem as though he didn't realise how much he wants her until he realised that another man could just sweep her off her feet to Rome. He was so focussed on the baby, and wanting to do the 'right thing by being there for the baby', being 'the man', that he sort of- forgot Emily's feelings. However, Marcello is a breath of fresh air to the audience because Gabriel came with so much drama, but Marcello is effortless, drama-free, and caring of nature right from the beginning. He helps her when she's stuck up on the mountain, and is very supportive, and treating her with respect a lot quicker than Gabriel. I think it'll be beautiful if there is another season, as Lily Collins said it will be a more relaxed Emily, and experiencing a new world again. I also find it interesting in the class difference e.g., Gabriel seems from more of a poorer background, whilst Marcello is rich, and bedazzles her with presents like that fancy sparkly dress! Whatever the end game- whether it's Gabriel or Marcello, think I'll fangirl over both for a while, hope that it's Gabriel, but again, would not be disappointed if it was Marcello! 😂

I’m over Gabriel, he’s moody and drama. Notice how he’s so passive about Emily until she’s with someone else? The nephew of the designer (can’t remember his name), but that’s when Gabriel and Emily first slept together. Then when she was with Alfie, Gabriel decided he wanted her. Now she’s found Marcello and Gabriel decides he’s going to pursue Emily. He left her on a mountain to ski it alone knowing she didn’t ski that well. His excuse was that Camille had taken off and he had to watch over her since she was pregnant. She’s probably been skiing since she was a cold, pregnant woman ski all the time and she was early in her pregnancy. So his excuse is BS. Hope season 5 ditches Gabriel- he’s boring and not worthy.

I LOVE Marcello and Emily together so much. He's my favorite love interest for her so far, just in front of Alfie who I adored. Gabriel does not need to leave Paris. If Emily has to go back to Paris for things they can talk there. Don't have that man show up to Rome tainting this new beautiful experience. I wasn't anti Gabriel but I never felt like they should be together. Emily has had so many dating options throughout the show. Gabriel is the only one that it's always an obstacle. I just can't anymore. Especially after he left her on the mountain after he talked her into going skiing. She was right to be furious, right to leave, and right to say forget this. I also feel like Gabriel is an archetype of a man that needs a woman's money/help/support to be successful. Like Antoine, Laurent G, and the Champere. All these men needed their wives money/resources/connections to have/grow their career. Cami and her family were trying to invest in him so he could get a restaurant. Emily did so much to get him exposure, get him connected, help him get a Michelin star. Even his partnership with Antoine is kind of related to Emily. I don't think it's accidental that Gabriel, Laurent G and Antoine are all blonde and all have that sexy French man vibe. The writers and producers are hitting us with commentary while we get this great story.
